Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Rockwell Road Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Richardson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Markel was born in Clinton, Mich. He attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force and as a corporal in the Marine Corps. He worked at Utility Engineering in Amarillo for three years. His greatest joy was being a loving and adoring father to his little "BooBoo," Trever. Survivors include his wife, Gaynette; a son, Trever Markel of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Melissa and Amanda, both of Amarillo; a stepson, Zachary of Amarillo; his mother, Susan Markel of Las Vegas; a sister, Judy Markel of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Gary Markel of Las Vegas and Robert Markel. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Landrum Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Wade died at Craig Methodist Windflower Nursing Unit following a long decline with Alzheimer's. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation for the love, care and patience given to Mary by the staff at Craig. Mary was born Oct. 22, 1917, to Jess and Grace Sutton in Obar, N.M. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Grover Mason in 1973 and Monroe Wade in 1997; two brothers, James and Gene Sutton; and a sister, Delores Jeter. Survivors include a daughter, Raylene Barnes; a stepson, Sam Wade and wife, Carolyn; seven grandchildren, Brenda Allen and husband, Ronnie, Beverly Barnes, Becky Adams and husband, Jeff, Sabre McLean and husband, John, Bambi Barrett and husband, Chris, Brad Wade and wife, Alicia, and David Wade; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Barnes; and a brother-in-law, J.D. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Abeyta was born in Olton and raised in Turkey. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. John's Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Indianapolis. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Pavlovic was born in Banja Luka, Yugoslavia. He married Safeta Gozic in 1971 at Yugoslavia, and moved to Amarillo in 1997 from there. He worked as a welder at Leading Edge for about five years. He was a member of St. John's Greek Orthodox Church. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dario Pavlovic of Amarillo, Benjamin Pavlovic of Littleton, Colo., and Jelenko Pavlovic of Yugoslavia; a sister, Mara Petreshin of Yugoslavia; and three grandchildren. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Smyth was born in Cleburne on Oct. 5, 1907, to Dave and Dora Widener and raised in the Floydada area. She attended school at Lakeview. Gladys married Earl Lee Smyth on Oct. 12, 1927, in Floydada. Gladys and her husband worked together on various ranches in the Texas Panhandle. They retired in 1972 from the Christie-Tipps Ranch in Roberts County. After their retirement they moved to Miami, where she lived until moving to Amarillo in May 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Miami. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; and a son, Cecil Smyth in May 2004. Survivors include four granddaughters, Celia Haskell, Celita Holcomb and Connie Mell, all of Amarillo, and Cheryl Bump of Euless; a grandson, Curtis Smyth of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Jimmie Smyth of Arlington; seven great- grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Simpson was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Lockney. He came to Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He married Dolores Daniel in 1950 in Clovis, N.M. She preceded him in death in 1976. In 1988, Wayne married Carol McCartney. Wayne attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Mr. Simpson retired from El Paso Natural Gas and, after retirement, worked at Ardens. He was preceded in death by his first wife; a brother, Eugene "Bud" Simpson of Sterling, Colo.; and a sister, Joni Daniel of Pampa. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randall Simpson of San Antonio, Rex Hodges of Oklahoma City and Pat Hodges of Amarillo; a daughter, Vickie Hodges Moore of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Arredondo was born April 12, 1977, in Amarillo to Gregory and Helen Arredondo. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1997. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and was loved by everyone. Survivors include his wife, Theresa; three children, Jeramiah McDowell Arredondo, Destiny McDowell and Gregory Arredondo, all of Amarillo; his father, George Arredondo and Bonnie of Vega; his mother, Helen of Amarillo; two brothers, Greg Arredondo and Mark DeLeon, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Georgene Arredondo and Deanne Morris, both of Houston; and his grandmother, Rosa Gonzales of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the United Methodist Church in Booker with the Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery, south of Booker, by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. Mr. Sell was born July 13, 1920, in Booker to Julius and Tena (Spotnik) Sell. Russell was a 1936 graduate of Booker High School. He served in the Army, being stationed in San Antonio and, during the European Theater, Africa and Italy. On Aug. 2, 1941, he married Grace Pierson in San Antonio. Mr. Sell worked as a farmer and rancher and was owner and operator of Sell International. Russell was a charter member of the United Methodist Church in Booker. He was very active in his community, serving on the Booker School Board, the Federal Land Bank board and Booker Equity. Russell enjoyed rodeos and golfing. When he would travel to various places, he especially loved to body surf in a rough ocean. He received the most enjoyment from his grandchildren and teaching his grandsons about farming, ranching and the family business. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a stepdaughter, Patsy; and a great-grandchild, Colby. Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Mounsey of Booker and Judy Hughes and husband, Bill, of Gilbert, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Meller of Perryton; a brother, Raymond and wife, Cleo, of Amarillo; a sister, Francis Riggs of Perryton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren.
