Committal services will be 10 a.m. Friday in White Deer Cemetery. Memorial services to be at 1 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo with Dr. Jim Bankhead, senior pastor, and Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Frederiksen was born in Amarillo on Aug. 5, 1946. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1965 and moved to Dayton, Ohio, where he went to work for Monsanto Research Corporation, the government contractor at Mound Laboratory in Miamisburg. In 1983, he and his family moved back to Amarillo where he accepted a position with Sandia National Laboratories as a team member at the Pantex Plant. In 1998, Ted became the manager of the Weapons Evaluation Test Lab at Pantex. His chief responsibility was the testing, safety and performance assurance of our nation's nuclear arsenal. He supervised the testing of more than 360 nuclear weapons in almost 4,000 laboratory tests. During his time of service he received numerous awards from both Sandia and our nation for his dedication and commitment to his work and his country. Ted retired in October 2004 after 39 years of service to our nation's security. Ted was a private pilot and was instrumental in the founding of the English Field Air and Space Museum while president of the Texas Aviation Historical Society. He was also an avid builder of show cars. He entered his 1923 Ford T- Bucket Pickup in the Make-a-Wish Foundation's car show every year to help support their work. He was a member at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. He was an usher at the 8:30 a.m. worship service for many years and also served on the board of deacons. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Jean Frederiksen of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Frederiksen and wife, Nancy, of Amarillo; two daughters, Julie Tooms and husband, Dennis, of Amarillo and Krista Detten and husband, Doug, of Hereford; and five grandchildren, Wes, Harrison, Jill, Holly and Chloe. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Mark Zimmerman of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Simpson was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Lockney. He came to Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He married Dolores Daniel in 1950 in Clovis, N.M. She preceded him in death in 1976. In 1988, Wayne married Carol McCartney. Wayne attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Mr. Simpson retired from El Paso Natural Gas and, after retirement, worked at Ardens. He was preceded in death by his first wife; a brother, Eugene "Bud" Simpson of Sterling, Colo.; and a sister, Joni Daniel of Pampa. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randall Simpson of San Antonio, Rex Hodges of Oklahoma City and Pat Hodges of Amarillo; a daughter, Vickie Hodges Moore of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Church of God in Christ with Elisha L. Demerson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Tyler was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Oscella. She was reared in Wellington, where she graduated from high school. She married James P. Tyler in 1961, and he preceded her in death after 33 years of marriage. She had been a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ since 1961, where she served on the mothers board and taught the adult Sunday school class. For many years, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Merrill Winsett and Dr. and Mrs. Oles as a domestic worker. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Arvella Rowe and husband, James, of Amarillo; two stepsons, Carroll R. Davis of Amarillo and Loyce Davis and wife, Mary K., of Blue Springs, Mo.; a brother, John Joseph Shannon of Kansas City, Mo.; three nieces; two nephews; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. "Matt" Vaughn, 40, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Panhandle with the Rev. Bill Fuller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mr. Vaughn was born Nov. 6, 1964, in Amarillo. Anyone who knew Matt knows how he was able to make you laugh. He suddenly was the focus of the party with his unusual wit and humor. His friends enjoyed many a trip to Lubbock with him to watch Tech football games, and he especially enjoyed Lady Raider basketball games with good friends, Kim and Tammie. He was a member of the Red Raider Club, having graduated from Texas Tech University in 1988 with a degree in business. After a short stint in the business world at Ford Motor Credit, he quickly realized five-day work weeks were not his style. Back to school he went, graduating from West Texas A&M with a master's degree in nursing, hoping for a three-day work week with his good friend, Melissa Fanelli. Most recently, Matt was a surgical nurse at Surgical Center on Soncy. Matt was loved by his friends and family and will never know how many lives he has touched. Survivors include his parents, Glenn and Karon Vaughn of Panhandle; three sisters, Cynthia Curtis, Sondie Yarger and Rhonda Gregory, all of Panhandle; his uncle, David Pickett; five nephews, James Marlin and Cody King, both of Amarillo, and Leevon Gregory, Colt Gregory and Rhett Gregory, all of Panhandle; a niece, Amber King of Panhandle; and his best friend, Jim Hale of Amarillo. Burial will be in Gageby Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Helton was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Hemphill County to Joseph Polk and Fannie Caroline King. She married Thomas R. Helton on Dec. 17, 1931, in Cheyenne, Okla. They were married 73 years. She and her husband lived on the farm at Gageby from 1943 to 1985. They then moved to Wheeler to live until August 2001, when they moved to the Craig Methodist Retirement Community in Amarillo. Mrs. Helton was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wheeler and Home Demonstration Club in Briscoe. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; a brother; a grandson; and a great-grandson. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Joyce Smith and husband, Joe Paul, of Sayre, Okla.; four sons, Thomas R. Helton Jr. and wife, Martha, and Jack Helton and wife, Sharon, all of Wheeler, Bob Helton and wife, Lavada, of Marble Falls and Bill Helton and wife, Phyllis, of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Sable was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Foyil, Okla. He had been a Phillips and Borger resident since 1941. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1951 and was a member of the Church of Christ at Borger. He married JoAnn Moore on July 17, 1953, in Abernathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Billie (Hallford) Sable; and a brother, W.D. "Pat" Sable. Jim Witcher, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Sanders was born July 12, 1930, in Abilene, Texas. He had been a longtime Tucumcari resident. He was active in the community, moving here in 1945 and graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1948. He retired from State Farm Insurance Co., serving 29 years as a State Farm agent in Tucumcari. He served on the city commission. He was an active member of BPO Elks Lodge 1172 of Tucumcari and served as exhalted ruler. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Ronny Sanders of Tucumcari; a daughter, Pam Reeves of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; a brother, James Sanders of Albuquerque; a sister, Patricia Nabave of Albuquerque; and his mother, Mertis Sanders of Albuquerque. Mr. Mills was born Feb. 2, 1935. Aubrey was a hardworking, loving provider for a large family that will sorely miss him. The memory of Aubrey Martin Mills will live on for generations in the hearts of this widespread web we call family that was begun many years ago. We love you Pee-paw. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Mills; his father, James Thomas Mills; and seven siblings.
