Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bernard Cohen, Sue Cohen, Ryan Canode and Deborah Weising officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stern was born May 27, 1928, in Amarillo to Amos "Moose" and Ruth (Standish) Hudson. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School in 1946. She married Robert Nelson Canode in 1948, and he preceded her in death. She later married Tibor Stern on March 27, 1982, in Amarillo. She was an accomplished accordion player. She had her own radio show when she was 10. She entertained at many different functions and conventions. She was in several Amarillo Little Theatre productions and the original cast of the play "TEXAS." She worked for Potter County Tax Office for 10 years. She was a tax deputy for Randall County Tax Office for 22 years, where she retired in 1995. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She lived life to the fullest each and every day. Her spirit touched the hearts of many and will live on in those who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Howard Canode and wife, Ru, of Denver and Nelson Canode and wife, Debbie, of Spring; a daughter, Susan Summer and husband, Paul, of Amarillo; two stepsons, Eddie Stern and wife, Terry, of Edgewater, Md., and Charles Stern and wife, Mary, of Spring; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Mr. Hill was born in Newton, Kan., on Dec. 30, 1932. He was third of five children born to Fred A. and Nellie Hill. Sam grew up in Whitewater, Kan., later moving with his family to Phoenix. He attended Arizona State University prior to joining the Air Force. Following his military service, he farmed and ranched in Texline. Sam married Jean Nix on Nov. 1, 1958, in Clovis, N.M. They raised their family in Amarillo. Sam was a self-employed cattleman. He was in partnership with his father, Fred A. Hill, in the Crosselle Ranch Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and an older sister, Marjorie. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Ellis of Amarillo and Belinda Hill of Rock Island, Ill.; four sons, Fred E. Hill, Winston Hill, Warren Hill and Frank Hill, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Joyce Culver of Oxford, Miss., Sue Gilliland of Fort Scott, Kan., and Nancy Hill of Hereford; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hendren was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Scotland, Ark. She later moved to Texas in 1937, where she met and married Daniel L. Hendren in 1939. She entered into her vocation of nursing at the age of 48, and retired from St. Anthony's Hospital at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by three brothers; and her husband in 1964. Survivors include a sister, Sheba Dewey of Arkansas; a daughter, Peggy LaFavers and husband, Jim, of Amarillo; a son, Dan Hendren and wife, Darlene, of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 1, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Irvin "Red" Bennett William Irvin "Red" Bennett, 97, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bennett was born in Childress County. He moved with his parents to homestead in Wyoming at the age of 7. He returned to Texas in the late 1920s to attend Simmons University in Abilene. Mr. Bennett was very active in sports at the university. This is also where he met his wife, Maurine Coffee. They married in 1943. During the Depression he was a cowboy for several ranches in Texas and Wyoming. In the 1940s, he ran the family cotton farm in Childress County. Mr. Bennett was a brand inspector for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of Western Cowpunchers and 45 Uppers Dance Club. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Mollie Moul and husband, Craig, of Denver. The family suggests memorials be to Western Cowpunchers or 45 Uppers Dance Club. Mrs. Cooper was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Bosque County. She was a Sunray resident since 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church of Sunray. She married Jack Cooper on May 4, 1940, in Dumas. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968. Survivors include a son, Frank Cooper of Sunray; a daughter, Jackie Nelson and husband, Jimmy, of Sunray; two brothers, James Townley and Harold Townley, both of Morgan; and two grandsons, James Nelson and Jacob Nelson. Mrs. Shepherd was born Nov. 5, 1935, on the Mel Davis Ranch in Gray County to James LeRoy and Bernice Lee (Andis) O'Neal. She attended school in Lefors. Later the family moved to Clarendon, where she met and married Richard Clyde Shepherd on Sept. 18, 1954. They moved to Channing for a short while before moving to the McCloy Ranch in the Nara Visa, N.M., area where they lived and worked for more than 34 years. During that time, Priss drove a bus and cooked for the Amistad School. In 1994, they retired and moved back to Channing. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister. Mr. Brundige was born July 16, 1932, in Mangum. He married Audrey Norene Atwood on April 17, 1953, in Russell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lamb was born Sept. 21, 1907, in Chickasha, Oklahoma Territory, to Joseph Polk and Alice Rankin Polk. She was the youngest of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Fred Lamb on Oct. 28, 1925, in Clayton. To this union was born nine children. Mrs. Lamb lived with her family at Centerville until the family moved to Clayton in 1938. She later moved to Felt, Okla., in 1981, then to Guymon, Okla., for several years before finally settling in Farmington in 1999 to be with her daughters. She resided there until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; her husband in 1974; a son, Rudolph in 1943; a grandson, Dr. Randy Cole in 2001; a great-grandson, Tigh Murdock in 1999; and a son-in-law, William "Bill" Murdock in 1984. Survivors include six daughters, Cleo Wood and husband, C.A.
