Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Bill Gehm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hudspeth was born March 12, 1967, in Canyon to his parents, John and Donna. After a hard-fought and valiant battle with cancer, Matt went home to be with his Father on Wednesday. Matt spent most of his life in Amarillo, graduating from Tascosa High School in 1985. His strong work ethic and profound sense of responsibility earned him a bachelor's degree in airway science from the University of Central Texas in 1994, and later he achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a professional pilot. Matt loved flying airplanes and met many special people along the way. He loved his job and everyone he flew the skies with. Perhaps his greatest dream was fulfilled when he married his lovely wife of 10 years, Jamie, and had the wonderful opportunity to discover the joys of marriage and fatherhood. Matt was selfless in his devotion to his family. This is evidenced by all those who will forever see his light shine in the lives of his children and his wife. Matt was a Godly man who had a close, personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Matt was loved by many people. He touched the lives of all of those who knew him and his gracious and kind spirit was an inspiration to all. He was a cherished husband and loving father. We will miss Matt greatly. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kelsey M. Hudspeth; a son, Matthew Cole Hudspeth; his father, John Hudspeth and wife, Marita, of Amarillo; his mother, Donna Davis and husband, Shane, of Austin; his best friend and brother, Tom Hudspeth and wife, Becky, of Allen; a sister, Amy Pitman and husband, Jeff, of Amarillo; his grandmothers, Bee Hudspeth of Denver and Ethelda McMillan of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 4, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vesta Mae Ladd Vesta Mae Ladd, 86, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Ladd was born May 24, 1918, in Deport. She married her childhood sweetheart O. Frank Ladd on March 15, 1943, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They were married for 56 years, with him preceding her in death in 1999. Mrs. Ladd worked as a sales clerk retiring from Hub Clothiers in 1979. She was a loving Christian woman who loved the Lord, and was admired for her dedication to her family and spreading joy and generosity to all. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Watts and husband, Ron, of Amarillo; a brother, Cleo Sides and wife, Jane, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Julie Brown and husband, Jeff, of Amarillo; a grandson, Jeff Watts and wife, Kera, of Fort Worth; and two great grandchildren, Emory Watts and Davis Watts. Ms. Wolf was owner of Bubbles Aquariums from 1989 to 1993, and was known for her love of pets, especially Yorkshire Terriers. She was a member of the Billy Joe Shaver Fan Club as "Panhandle Pearl" and a member of Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Horace Wolf and Eloise; her brother, Horace L. "Buddy" Wolf; a son, Joseph Jerald Perry IV; and a niece, Ashley Wolf. Survivors include a son, John Perry and wife, Lisa, of Rocky Gap, Va.; two brothers, Robert Wolf and Paul Wolf, both of Amarillo; her aunt, Sara Holroyd of Lexington, Ky.; and her nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Woody was born in Santa Anna to Robert E. and Effie Mae McDonald. She attended Ranchville School in Clovis, N.M. She married Byron W. Woody on Dec. 20, 1934, in Deaf Smith County. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, and was looking forward to the birth of four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Woody was a member of Anna Street Church of Christ and the Republican Party. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1996; two sisters, Ruth Hooper and Jewell Milne; and six brothers, Arthur, Carl, Hubert, Bill, Ollie and A.D. McDonald. Survivors include two daughters, Carole Mullins of Amarillo and LaVonne Farr of Littlefield; three sons, Arlen Woody of LaMarque, Lyndal Woody of Amarillo and Anthony Woody of Houston; three sisters, Imogene Mangus of Los Banos, Calif., Johnnie Brown of Clovis and Pauline Owen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lewis was born Sept. 19, 1924, in Roswell, N.M., the son of Walter and Lora Lewis. He married Mary Milner on Sept. 4, 1947, in New Mexico and moved to Hereford in 1967. He was a veteran, having served as a paratrooper in the Army during World War II. Earl was a lifelong cattleman and was actively involved in the cattle feeding industry. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Lewis and a sister, Mollie Hall. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dan Lewis and wife, Debra, of Hurst and Terry Lewis and wife, Monica, of Bernalillo, N.M; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Daniel Lewis of Hurst. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Perkins was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Lela. He was a Sunray resident since July 1959. He married Sue Gaines on May 18, 1956, in Lela. He was a member of Sunray Baptist Church in Sunray. He retired as an operator from Diamond Shamrock in 1998 after 39 years of employment. He loved to hunt, fish and do carpentry work, and his loved his dogs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tarlton Perkins. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Keith of Breckenridge; a son, Mike Perkins and wife, Sherri, of Sunray; a brother, Dalon Perkins and wife, Sharon, of Amarillo; and four grandchildren, Alysa Perkins and Morgan Keith, both of Amarillo, Krystle Potts and husband, Michael, of Sunray and Dawn Skala of Leadville, Colo. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Union Church with Jed Meisner officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Dry was born to Otis and Clara Dry in Fairland, Okla., on Sept. 23, 1931. They moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1941. He graduated from Spearman High School and went into the trucking business with his dad and brother. He served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. After the service, he was a truck driver and then became a ranch foreman for Rue and R.E. Sanders for many years. Upon semi-retirement he again drove a truck for a few years. Floyd enjoyed helping with youth rodeos, FFA animals, and his grandchildren's sporting events and concerts. His grandchildren could do no wrong in his eyes. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 1581 in Borger. He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Johnny Dry; his father; his stepmother, Mamie Dry; and a sister, Betty. Survivors include a son, Danny Dry of Spearman; two daughters, Pam Barber and Sandy Cummings, both of Spearman; five grandchildren, Shayla Barber and Dusty Barber, both of Lewisville, Steven Cummings and Samantha Cummings, both of Spearman, and Chelsea Dry of Bentonville, Ark.; the mother of his children, Helen Dry Yancy of Spearman; his special friends, Tim and Deana Taylor, Brandy Bogle and Dave and Jeanne Hand of Spearman; his much loved dog, Buster; and several nieces and nephews.
