Arney Clint L. Arney, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Harold Turner and Mark Rector officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Arney was born March 24, 1924, in Dallas to John Mack Henry and Martha Ann. Mr. Arney married Ruth Daniels on June 17, 1944, in Colbert, Okla. The couple moved to Amarillo in 1948 and had resided here ever since. Mr. Arney retired from the Amarillo Independent School District after 30 years. Mr. Arney was a member of Bible Baptist Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clinton Arney, Dennis Arney and Randy Arney, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Nancy Reichman of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Lubbock. Mr. Guerrero was born April 3, 1940, in Lubbock to Manuel and Teomotia Guerrero. He served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. Upon returning to the states from active service, he worked as an advocate for veterans. Mr. Guerrero worked as the secretary of treasury for the Teamsters' Union until his retirement. He married Maria Quintero in Amarillo in 1990. Mr. Guerrero enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Pan American Golf Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jaime Guerrero and Carlos Guerrero, both of Amarillo, Arthur Guerrero of Georgetown and Leonard Guerrero Jr. of Lafayette, La.; a stepdaughter, Amy Esparza of Dallas; a stepson, Max Esparza of Pueblo West, Colo.; a sister, Beatrice Garibay of Lubbock; two brothers, Armondo Guerrero of Amarillo and Ruben Guerrero of Lubbock; and 10 grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery in Muleshoe with Zane Henderson officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mrs. Henderson had been a resident of Amarillo since 1971, moving from Muleshoe. Survivors include two sons, Zane Henderson of Round Rock and John Henderson of Amarillo; two daughters, Dianne Spark of Wheeler and Darlene Norton of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Ruby Reed of Cameron; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Mires was born Nov. 23, 1925, in O'Donnell, the oldest of seven children of Delbert Wilson Mires and Frankie Syble Mires. He was longtime resident of Amarillo and active in many business and professional organizations here. He graduated from O'Donnell High School in May 1943 and entered the Army on Feb. 26, 1944. His 89th Infantry Division participated in the liberation of Stalag Ohrdruf-Nord concentration camp. Dwaine was awarded the Bronze Star for his efforts in Europe. Dwaine was active on the WTSU Alumni board of directors and Texas Association of Business and was a member of Panhandle Personnel Association, American Society Personnel Administration, the American Society of Safety Engineers and the American Society of Personnel Administrators. He was also an active participant in many civic organizations, such as the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, president of Toastmaster's Club, a member of the United Way citizen's budget committee, board of directors of the YMCA, board of directors of Goodwill Industries, Texas Association of Business and board of directors of the Amarillo Discovery Center. He served as county precinct chairman for four years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Fay Harris. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Price Mires; four brothers, Harold Mires of O'Donnell, Don Mires of Plainview, Ralph Mires of Lamesa and Roy Mires of Keller; a sister, Leta Hatch of Plainview; and 21 loving nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Larry Young officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Mr. Sperry was born in Sunshine, Okla., and was raised in Oklahoma and Flomot. He was a veteran of the Army. He married Shirley Shawhart in 1960 in Memphis. He lived in Memphis for many years before moving to Amarillo in 1991. Mr. Sperry was a longtime employee of Burlington Northern Railroad, where he retired from in 2004. He loved to play golf and watch football and enjoyed his Thursday night poker gang. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Sperry and friend, Melissa Erickson, and her daughter, Hannah Kreie, all of Amarillo; four brothers, Donny Sperry of Mangum, Okla., Tommy Grant Sperry of Dublin, Floyd Sperry of Borger and Charles Sperry of Denton; and three sisters, Vada Collins of Venus, Sonji Miller of Denton and Margaret Eubanks of Kemp. Frank "Snooks" Coleman Jr., 79, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ with Gaylord Cook of Gruver officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Coleman was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Wellington to J. Frank Coleman Sr. and Willie Thomas Coleman. He served in the Navy during World War II on Johnson Island in the Pacific as a coxswain first class. He was a farmer/rancher and a member of Church of Christ. He attended school at Dozier and Marella and graduated from Quail in 1944. He served on the Wellington school board for six years. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and several cattleman's associations over the years. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Coleman, in 2003. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Tommy Coleman and wife, Karen, of Wellington and Jody Coleman and wife, Christy, of Joshua; two sisters, Dell O'Neil of Lubbock and Mazine Davidson of Crofton, Md.; five grandchildren, Taylor Coleman, Sarah Coleman and Geneva Little, all of Joshua, Jamie Strickland of Amarillo and Rusty Strickland and wife, Alison, of Quail; and a great-grandson, Blake Strickland of Quail. Hensel, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in Pampa. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Hall officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home. Mr. Hensel was born March 28, 1920, in Glassmere, Pa., to the late Mr. Clarence Elmer Hensel and Mrs. Emma Anna Tachenberg Hensel. He was a graduate of Tarentum High School in Tarentum, Pa. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and the Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean conflict, where he was a colonel in the Confederate Air Force. He married Nell Woodard Hensel on Nov. 13, 1945, in Bossier City, La. Mr. Hensel was an instrument technician for Mobile Oil Corporation for 34 years. He moved to Canadian in 1975 from Satanta, Kan. He was a member of the Confederate Air Force and First United Methodist Church. Mr. Hensel was also a longtime board member and volunteer for the River Valley Pioneer Museum. He was named 1996 Man of the Year and was a volunteer for Sharing Is Caring, where he was known as the bicycle man. He was also a volunteer in the local literacy program through Hemphill County Library. Mr. Hensel also helped deliver Meals on Wheels and helped with election efforts, donating his paychecks to favorite charities. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 7, 1987; a twin sister, Clara Hensel; and a brother, Elmer Clarence Hensel. Survivors include a son, Randy Hensel and wife, Janet, of Hampton, Ga.; a daughter, Karen Immell and husband, Bill, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Doris Park of Pennsylvania and Arlene Murry of Zephyr Hill, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Emily Christine Hensel of Atlanta, Kyle Andrew Hensel of Statesboro, Ga., Amy Colleen Immell and Anna Elizabeth Immell, both of Tulsa, and Deborah Suzanne Immell of Stillwater, Okla. Mr. Perez was born June 19, 1949, in Brownsville. He worked as a tax assessor for the city of Lubbock for 15 years before moving back to Dimmitt in 1998. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Foster was born in Stratford on Oct. 29, 1917, to Clyde R. and Agnes Augusta Hendrick Foster. Newton was raised in the Stratford area and graduated from Stratford High School in 1936. He then attended Texas A&M University, before being drafted in 1941. Newton was a glider pilot and flew in many campaigns in the European Theatre. On Nov. 11, 1941, he married Alva Pauline Hambright. After his discharge, they moved to Dalhart, where Newton became a real estate salesman for W.H. Lathem Land Co. until 1960, when he began his own real estate company. Mr. Foster was a member of the Dalhart Board of Realtors, Texas Cattle Feeders Association and was a past XIT rodeo and reunion director. Newton was one of the largest individual cattle feeders in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Howard; a great-grandson, Kirk Armer; and two brothers, John Foster and Sheldon Foster. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terry Heller of Oklahoma; three sons, Mike Foster and Greg Foster, both of Dalhart and Jay Foster of Amarillo; a brother, Art Foster of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Texas, with the Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Arrangements are by Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton. Mr. Windom was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Hansford County, Texas, and graduated from Spearman High School. He worked as a red cap for Phillips Petroleum in Spearman, Texas, and Pampa, Texas, and moved to Albuquerque as a Phillips 66 distributor. Mr. Windom retired at the age of 80 from real estate and investing. He married Jewel in 1994 and moved to Kingsland, Texas, and returned to Truth or Consequences a few years later. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Cloyt "Tip" Windom of Lubbock, Texas; three nieces; and six nephews. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired Church of Christ minister. He was involved with country and gospel music most of his life.
