Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Gresham was born June 14, 1914, in Bryce. She attended school in Richland, N.M. Velma married J.E. "Dick" Gresham in Portales, N.M., on March 8, 1932. They moved to California in 1939 and then came back to Portales and lived there until moving to Amarillo in 1962. They then moved to Roswell, N.M., upon retirement where Velma continued to live after Dick's death. She moved to Amarillo to be close to her children in 1983. In February 2001, she moved to Portales to live with her daughter, Charlene, and lived there until her death. Velma spent most of her life working at cafes, factories, farming with her husband and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a very special devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband at age 68 in June 1981; and infant son, Clark Eugene Gresham; two sons-in-law, J.C. "Pete" Bouldin and Donald Meredith; a grandson, Scott Gresham; an infant great-granddaughter; three sisters, Lorene Bowers, Gladys Pruett and Geneva Moran; and four brothers, Marvin Page, Uel Page, Floyd Page and James Newland. Survivors include five daughters, Doris McCurdy and husband, Dean, and Janet Carter and husband, Mickey, all of Amarillo, Jean Meredith of Lubbock, Charlene Bouldin of Portales, N.M., and Darlene Liveoak and husband, Kenneth, of Phoenix; two sons, Jim Gresham and wife, Rosemary, of Fritch and Rodney Gresham and wife, Janice, of Jefferson; 20 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Scott of Paris, Texas, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Nipper was born May 29, 1914, in Wellington, to Claude and Beulah Neece. She grew up in the Texas Panhandle. She lived in Hereford, Seagoville, and Sappoose, Ore., before returning to the Panhandle in 2002. She was a member of Warren Baptist Church in Oregon. She was a devoted wife and mother, who was dearly loved by all of her nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Nipper; a daughter, Earlene Duckworth; a brother; and a sister. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 8, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isabelle Catherine Margaret Wilke Isabelle Catherine Margaret Wilke, 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Wilke was born Dec. 1, 1918, to George and Loretta Baker in Red Bud, Ill. Upon George's completion of service to his country in World War I, the young family moved to homestead in Montana. Isabelle attended rural schools and graduated from Poplar High School. She married Clarence Wilke on July 21, 1936, in Poplar. They farmed and ranched for nearly 50 years near Poplar. Isabelle was active in the Altar Society, Wild Rose Home Demostration Club and Senior Citizens. She moved to Amarillo in 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Eileen McNees; and six grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Jim Wilke of Eureka, Mont., John Wilke of Amarillo and George Wilke of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Agnes McKenzie of Converse and Helen Tucker of Amarillo; two brothers, Earl Baker of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Harold Baker of Superior, Mont.; a sister, Eileen Harris of Shenandoah, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. Manuel Rodriguez, visitation minister at First Assembly of God Church in Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley Funeral Home. Mrs. Beasley was born June 12, 1943, in Olton. She married Billy Beasley on Aug. 24, 1963, in Plainview. She was a hairdresser and worked as a secretary for J.Q. Long Roofing Co. for 11 years. She worked for Cable Vision in Lockney for seven years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Lucille Meadows; and two brothers, William and Wayne Meadows. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 8, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul "Mokey" Ivey DIMMITT - Paul "Mokey" Ivey, 62, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Ivey was born April 7, 1942, in Abilene. He moved to Dimmitt in 1950 and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1961. He attended Texas Tech University and West Texas State University. While at West Texas, he was in the ROTC program and was a champion sharp-shooter. He had farmed in the Dimmitt area for more than 30 years. He had his pilot's license and instructor rating. He had extensive training and taught environmental technologies. He loved to hunt and fish and was considered a trophy hunter and master fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd P. Ivey in 1959 and Lillie Wright Ivey in 1986. Survivors include two daughters, Paula Beck of Wakita, Okla., and Karen Ford of Canyon; a son, Jimmy Ivey of Littlefield; six grandchildren; his former wife, Katie Ivey of Dimmitt; his natural mother, Hazel Pruitt of Lamesa; and a sister, Judy of East Texas. "Jack" Jackson VEGA - Otis D. "Jack" Jackson, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. James Peach, pastor of Frio Baptist Church in Hereford, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers in Vega. Mr. Jackson was born Sept. 30, 1922, to Matt and Ollie Walker Jackson in Rosebud. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Pacific as a platoon sergeant in the Army. He received a purple heart when wounded in the Philippines. After the war he married Marie Jones. Jack worked for a pipeline construction company as a mechanic for more than 40 years, traveling all over the U.S. Some of his many jobs included carpentry, heavy equipment operator, and mechanic. He had been a resident of Vega since 1952, where he also farmed. Survivors include a brother, R.V. Jackson of Rosebud; a sister, Ruby of Houston; two sons, Mike and Steve Jackson of Vega; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Williams was born in Amarillo and had been a longtime resident of Stratford. She moved to Dumas 10 years ago. She had been a depot agent for Rock Island Railroad and had been a member of First United Methodist Church of Stratford. She loved the Scot Hall in Stratford. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Foster, in 2004. Survivors include a brother, Randy McAdams of Dumas; and a sister, Alice Gomez of Frederick, Md. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. McMinn was born Feb. 12, 1909, in Morgan Mills. She married Clarence E. McMinn on May 5, 1928, in Crowell. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1936, moving to live with her daughter in Odessa in 2000. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served the Lord in many capacities. She taught Sunday School for many years, as well as serving as president and state officer for WMU. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and they loved her. She spent her last days always reading the Bible. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Berna McMinn May and husband, John Edd, of Odessa; a son, Donald McMinn and wife, Jackie, of Pampa; two granddaughters, Mrs. LaRue Keaton of Arlington and Mrs. Donna Miller of Pampa; a grandson, James McMinn of Pampa; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Payne was born May 8, 1916, in Blaine County. She married E.W. "Doc" Payne on June 18, 1932, in Watonga. Survivors include a son, Charles Payne of Boise City; two daughters, Sandra Lou Hawkins of Boise City and Sharon Ann Rich of Farmington, Mo.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 8, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Damon D. Gregg BROKEN ARROW, OKLA. - Dr. Damon D. Gregg, 74, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in Tulsa. Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spearman, Texas. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Beaver Cemetery in Beaver by Hayhurst Funeral Home. Dr. Gregg was born April 22, 1930, in Beaver to Luke and Pearl Wagner Gregg. Dr. Gregg joined the Navy during the Korean War. While stationed in Pearl Harbor, he married Marie L. Van Keuren on July 26, 1952. After receiving his discharge, he returned to Oklahoma to continue his education. He drove a milk truck at night and attended school during the day at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where he completed his undergraduate studies. He was accepted into medical school at the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated as a medical doctor in 1959. He completed his residency at St. John's Hospital in 1960 and returned to the Texas Panhandle. He set up his general practice in Spearman and practiced there for 13 years. He returned to Tulsa to pursue more education and began to study pathology at St. John's Hospital. In 1976, he began his career in pathology at Midwest City Hospital in Midwest City and retired after 39 years of medicine. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing, good conversation with his friends and interacting with his grandchildren. He received recognition as a physician from the American Medical Association, was a member of Aerospace Medical Association, listed as Who's Who in Texas in 1968 due to his never misdiagnosing a case, and received a life membership from Oklahoma State Medical Association in recognition of distinguished service in the practice of medicine. Many lives crossed Dr. Gregg's. Those who called him doctor are grateful for his care and generosity; those who called him friend loved his wit, humor and stories; and those who called him Daddy will forever hold him dear in our hearts. Rest in peace, Daddy. "Oh me." Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Theda Cox and Greta Lowry; a brother, Irtle Joe Gregg; four daughters, Diane McLain, Debbie Donica, Susie Bachman and Dawne Gregg; a son, Damon Gregg II; 11 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
