Prayer services will be at 6:30 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Arnulfo Rodas officiating. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Family Church First Assembly of God with the Rev. Ezekial Contreras officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Alfred Vargas officiating. Mrs. Limas was born July 6, 1933, in Amarillo to Mr. and Mrs. Pedro Arrez. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1952, she attended Bible school in Isleta. She then attended West Texas State University and graduated with a degree in education. Mrs. Limas was a secretary at both Sam Houston and Palo Duro, prior to teaching Spanish at Tascosa High School. She retired from teaching in 1995 after 25 years of service to the students. Mrs. Limas and her parents helped pioneer the First Spanish Assemblies of God in Amarillo. She was actively involved in the church, serving in various ministries including pastor, pianist and Sunday school teacher. Her love of music and serving others led her to start the Music Joy Academy, an after school program for children from Glenwood Elementary. In addition, she loved to visit with and minister to people in their homes. Lucy was a faithful servant of the Lord. Her generous spirit and loving heart brought many to know Him. Survivors include a son, Pedro, and wife, Tanya, and their children, Elijah and Lauren, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Damaris Bautista, and husband, Ruben, and their children, Daniela, Ruben, Gabriela and Briana, all of Amarillo; a sister, Nellie Escalante of Amarillo; and a brother, Frank Ornelas of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lilah Idahlia Kelley Lilah Idahlia Kelley, 97, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Brent Adams of Southwest Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Kelley was born in Kenton, Okla., on Jan. 28, 1908, and was raised nearby on the ranch her father homesteaded in northeastern New Mexico. She was married to Claude Massey from 1927 until his death in 1944. Lilah married Ted T. Kelley in 1946. They lived in Canyon for 22 years, then moved to Denver for 12 years and then moved to Amarillo in 1980, where she lived until her death. Mr. Kelley died in 1984. Lilah worked as an assistant registrar for West Texas A&M University from 1955 to 1968, and in the 1970s and 1980s, she worked in the registrar's office at two universities in Denver. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husbands; and a son, Charles Dwayne Massey. Survivors include a son, E. Lynn Kelley of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Rex Nicholl of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Blatzheim was born July 12, 1937, in Dallas. He graduated from Price College High School and attended West Texas State University, receiving a BBA degree in marketing. He worked in the petroleum and credit industry, and as an insurance adjuster with GAB Robins, retiring in 2002 after 26 years. He loved guns and fast cars. Survivors include a brother, James Blatzheim and wife, Pamela, of Amarillo; a niece, Barbara Woody and husband, Briton, of Nixa, Mo.; and a nephew, Phillip Blatzheim and wife, Alexandra, of Cypress. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerry "Nannie" Pearson Simon Gerry "Nannie" Pearson Simon, 80, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Glen Walton of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. Simon was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Mangum, Okla., to Herbert H. and Myrtle Ivy Stephen. She graduated from Spearman High School and attended business school in Borger. She married Wally Pearson on Oct. 7, 1944. He preceded her in death in July 1979. In 1965, Mrs. Simon joined the staff of the Amarillo Globe-News where she worked in the classified advertising department. In 1973, she became the dispatch manager at the Globe-News. She was the first women to ever hold this position. Her career with the Globe-News continued, and by the time of her retirement in 1991, she held the position of classified advertising supervisor. Mrs. Simon married Kenneth Simon in Las Vegas in June 1983. Mr. Simon preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Kendrick of Wichita Falls; a son, Mike Pearson of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Stacey Case and Missy Pearson, both of Amarillo, and Mike Kendrick of Bushland; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Landan and Kallie. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Lehman was born Jan. 5, 1911, in St. Joseph, Mo., to John and Rosa Lehman. John married Jennie Eike on the Eike family farm near Woodward, Okla., on Sept. 3, 1939. John and Jennie came to Fritch after they were married and have made their home here for the entire 65 years of their lives together. John worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1972. He was instrumental in the planning and building of the Fritch Museum and served on the S.I.S.D. school board for 11 years, nine of which he was president. He was active in the Lions Club and held many offices in that organization, and was also on the city council for many years. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Borger, serving on various committees and church organizations. John's interests were working in his shop, vegetable gardening and walking. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Herman Lehman of Blanchard, Okla., and Melvin Lehman and wife, Paula, of Fritch; two daughters, Anita Brown and husband, Ron, of Blanchard and Sue Ann Broadaway and husband, Barry, of Fritch; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She married Moises Lujan on May 5, 1999, in Hereford. Mrs. Lujan was a homemaker and a member of Iglesia Catolica de San Jose. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pat Andrada; and five brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patsy G. Memorial services will be at a later date in the Church of Christ in Melrose. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Kresge was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He had been a former resident of Melrose for 35 years before he and his wife, LaNelda, moved to Logan 14 years ago. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of Logan Church of Christ. He was a longtime member of American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He farmed and ranched in the Melrose area for 35 years and also worked at Melrose Grain and Elevator for 23 years. He married Pearline Bridges on Jan. 31, 1992, in Farwell, Texas. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Larry Earl McCuiston of Henderson, Ky., Thomas Allan McCuiston and Greg McCuiston, both of Coldwater, Mich., and Gary McCuiston of Westbrook, Mich.; two daughters, Joan Schram of Pinkey, Mich., and Mary Ann Henson of Taylor, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Mary Jane Reeves Mary Jane Reeves, 75, of Canyon died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry L. Meyer and the Rev. David Lowrie officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Reeves was born Aug. 15, 1929, in Denver to Joseph and Mary Jane Guiteras. She grew up in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Santiago, Chile, where she attended The American College. She graduated from Stephen's College and received a master of arts in Spanish from the University of Colorado. For three summers she was in charge of the language school at the University of Colorado and also studied Russian at Middlebury College in Vermont. She spent a year at the University of Innsbruck in Austria as a Fullbright Scholar and attended the universities of Madrid and Santander, Spain. She returned to Denver to teach languages at East High School. It was during this time that she met John Reeves. They were married in August 1959. Mary Jane continued to teach in the Denver Public Schools until 1970, when she, John and their three children moved to Canyon. She taught languages at Canyon High School, and for several summers she and John took groups of students to Europe. Mary Jane taught in the education department of West Texas State University for several years before accepting a position as gifted and talented coordinator at Region 16 Service Center, helping area school districts develop and strengthen their gifted and talented education programs. Among her many awards and distinctions was being named Texas State Educator of the Year. She retired in 1996 to spend more time traveling and to be with her children and grandchildren. She continued to tutor at Lakeview Elementary School, to help with Odyssey of the Mind program and to judge area speech tournaments. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1997 and fought a valiant fight that made her family proud. She shared with her family her lifelong love of traveling, learning, music and languages. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many people who gave their love and support during her last days. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Anne Blasdel of Oklahoma City, Meg Williams of Denver and Jenny Wilson of Dallas; a brother, Joseph Guiteras of Oxnard, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Natalie, Zac, and Nate Blasdel and Noah and Luke Wilson. Mr. Frame was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Denver to Arthur James and Mildred Kelly Frame Sr. He married Pat Montgomery in Las Vegas in 1965. They moved to Canyon in 1973 from Floydada and he was employed by Jack Cooper Trucking in Amarillo for 22 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 577. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darla Bulla and Sheri Ferguson, both of Canyon; two sons, Steve Frame of Canyon and James Thomas Frame of Fort Worth; four sisters, Pat Linscott of Olympia, Wash., Lynn Reneau of Seattle, Dorothy Kusler of Nevada and JoAnn Lee of Palm Desert, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Allen Frame of Arizona and Roland Lee of Nevada; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
