Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Temple Baptist Church with Wyley Chaney, chaplain of Hollywood Road Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Halford was born Aug. 29, 1948, to L.D. and Wavanee Chaney in Amarillo. She married Larry Halford on June 26, 1982, in Amarillo. She was a loving wife, mother and granny all of her life. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and later joined Hollywood Road Community Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark Halford and wife, Lisa, of Dallas and Norman Halford of Houston; two daughters, Jennifer Hodges of Amarillo and Torri Hodges of Clovis, N.M.; a brother, Wyley Chaney and wife, Peggy, of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Hodges, Parker Cottrell and Ashley Popawell; and a great-granddaughter, Naomi. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 12, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- GERRY "NANNIE" PEARSON SIMON Gerry "Nannie" Pearson Simon, 80, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Glen Walton of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. Simon was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Mangum, Okla., to Herbert H. and Myrtle Ivy Stephen. She graduated from Spearman High School and attended business school in Borger. She married Wally Pearson on Oct. 7, 1944. He preceded her in death in July 1979. In 1965, Mrs. Simon joined the staff of the Amarillo Globe-News, where she worked in the classified advertising department. In 1973, she became the dispatch manager at the Globe-News. She was the first woman to ever hold this position. Her career with the Globe-News continued, and by the time of her retirement in 1991, she held the position classified advertising supervisor. Mrs. Simon married Kenneth Simon in Las Vegas in June 1983. Mr. Simon preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Kendrick of Wichita Falls; a son, Mike Pearson of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Stacey Case and Missy Pearson, both of Amarillo, and Mike Kendrick of Bushland; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Landan and Kallie. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Petersburg to William and Lily Mae Johnson Jr. They moved to Canyon in 1968, and he graduated from Canyon High School in 1971. He attended West Texas State University for a year. He married Lucia P. Johnson in Canyon on Nov. 18, 1977. He moved to Lubbock in 1983, and he was employed by Energas for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1995 and a sister, Robena Davis, in 2004. Survivors include his wife of New Deal; a daughter, Detra Marie Johnson of Lubbock; a son, Dwight Gerald Johnson of Lubbock; his father of Canyon; five brothers, James Ellis Johnson of Dallas, Robert Earl Johnson and wife, DeDe, of Providence, R.I., Johnny Ray Johnson of Amarillo, Randy Wayne Johnson of Dimmitt and Michael Johnson and wife, Karen, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four sisters, Sandra Ann Roston and husband, Willie, and Michelle Johnson and husband, John, all of Cedar Hill, Merry Joy Byers and husband, Louis, of Birmingham, Ala., and Norma Lynn Brunt and husband, Bill, of Houston. Terry Hovey of Mobeetie officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Morse was born April 10, 1916, in Gage, Okla., to Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Stewart. She married Roy A. Morse on Feb. 3, 1936, in Canadian. Mrs. Morse had lived in the Allison Community since 1946. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; three sisters, two brothers; two sons, Allen Dean Morse and David Morse; and two daughters, Caraline Boydston and Wanda Chapman. Survivors include a daughter, Cletus Green and husband, Dick, of Allison; a brother, Joshua Stewart and wife, Phyllis, of Chandler, Ariz.; three sisters, Anna Ruppanner and husband, Ray, of Dalhart, Joy Johnston of Denver and Catherine Claggett and husband, June, of Higbee, Mo.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a longtime friend, Pearl Harrison. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 12, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Bobby Wayne "Bob" Boatman NORMAN, OKLA. - Bobby Wayne "Bob" Boatman, 56, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Little Cemetery in Little. Mr. Boatman was born March 26, 1948, in Anadarko to Velma I. Simons Boatman and Robert H. Roel Boatman Jr. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, and attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. He served as a seabee with the Navy between 1968 and 1972 during the Vietnam conflict. Bob moved to Norman in 1972. In 1981, he started working as a carpenter for the University of Oklahoma and worked there for 23 years. He enjoyed building things, loved to spend time with his family and friends and followed the school activities of his niece and nephew. Bob enjoyed making new friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Robert H. Henry Boatman and Ella Odom Boatman and Walter Arthur Simons and Lena Fay Stine Simons. Survivors include his mother of Norman; a sister, Ella Faye Lewis and husband, Greg, of Burkburnett, Texas; a niece, Sabrina Ann Lewis of Burkburnett; a nephew, Adam Jay Lewis of Burkburnett; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Mr. Taylor grew up in Guymon, graduating with the Guymon High School class of 1989. He had resided in St. Charles for the past two years, working as a computer technician. Mrs. Shaw was born Aug. 22, 1907, in Hedley to John L. Lamberson and Celia Cooper Lamberson. She married Jasper "Jap" Shaw on May 30, 1925, in Clarendon. She was a retired cook in the public school. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and First Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1977.
