Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with the Rev. Johnnie Snider of Travis Baptist Church of Memphis officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Stevens was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Dangerfield to Thomas C. Stevens and Emma E. Smoak Stevens. He served in World War II, Korea and volunteered for Vietnam, serving two terms. He retired from the Navy. He had been attached to the Marines as a medic. He loved motorcycles and rode them in every state and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willie Perry Stevens; and an infant brother, Morris Stevens. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Greener and husband, David, and Pamela Faye, both of Fort Worth; a son, Claude Stevens of Colorado; a sister, Mildred Smith of Memphis; two brothers, Roy Don Stevens of Clarendon and Julius Harold Stevens of Tulia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Carpenter was born July 15, 1938, in Long Beach, Calif. She married Robert Carpenter Sr. on Oct. 23, 1970. Sally's death has been an unfortunate one. She was a very kind and loving person. May Sally rest in peace. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debra R. Smith of Elwood, Neb., and Susan M. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a longtime member of Fairlane Church of Christ. He retired from Montgomery Ward. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Chester Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Purcell was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Memphis, Tenn., to Ada and Arthur Purcell. He did land surveying in Dumas for Brown & Root, and surveyed the town known as Etter. He drove trucks most all of his life and was the owner and operator of Purcell Trucking for many years. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Amarillo. He married Mary E. Gilliam-Stults on Aug. 28, 1945, in Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne Purcell of Amarillo; a daughter, Doris E. He was a maintenance man at various local apartment complexes until his retirement in 1992. Mrs. Hill was born and raised in Griggs, Okla. She married R.C. Hill in 1956. They moved to Amarillo in 1963 from Earth. She was a member of Eastern Star, Texhoma, Okla., chapter. Naomi was a loving and caring wife, mother and granny. She will be missed by all who knew her. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose- White Funeral Home. Mrs. Schacht was born Nov. 26, 1911, in Harvey County, Kan., to the late Richard and Lula Grace Morris. She graduated from high school in Plains, Kan., in 1929 as salutatorian. She married Fritz Otto Schacht on Nov. 26, 1929, in Plains and they moved to Lockney. She was a florist, a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years, sang in the choir and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Lockney. She was preceded in death by her husband in November 1975; a son, Morris Don Schacht in 1969; a brother; and five sisters. Survivors include two sons, Clar Schacht and wife, Judy, of Floydada and Otto Schacht and wife, Madonna, of Plainview; two daughters, Margaret Schacht of Lockney and Sarah Cameron and husband, David, of Midland; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She worked as a short order cook. He married Elizabeth Valdez on Aug. 26, 2002, in Dumas. He was a graduate of TCU ranch management. He was a beloved father, son and husband. He was a lifetime Dumas resident. Gresham Spell, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be 2 p.m. today in Northwest Christian Center. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Spell was born May 12, 1912, in Bluegrove, Texas, to Joe and Lula Melton Gresham. Alma was president of the Women's Auxiliary in the Tri-State Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church for eight years. She developed children's ministries and played the piano and organ in the churches where her husband pastored. Earlier in life she traveled in a gospel trio across the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 58 years, Pastor Alfred Spell. Survivors include a son, Dalton Spell and wife, Ginger, of Mena, Ark.; two daughters, Elnita Ridgway and husband, Wendell, of Amarillo and Alfreda Simmons and husband, Dr. Jesse Simmons, of West Columbia, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The body will be available for viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Arrangements are by Clark Funeral Service. Mrs. Chenault was born Feb. 11, 1916, to Ned and Vashti Grimsley in rural Cooke County. She married Merl J. Chenault in 1936, while working as a reporter for Donley County Leader in Clarendon. She was a longtime resident of the Amarillo area, working as a bookkeeper for Singer Sewing Machine Co. After retirement, she remained active in Amarillo Doll Friends Club prior to moving to Houston to be near her son in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, JR; two sisters, Opal and Lavonia; and her husband. Survivors include a son, Lynn Chenault and wife, Cynthia, of Houston; two grandchildren, Charles Chenault of Houston and Cynthia Chenault of Kenya; a brother, Ward of Azusa, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
