Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Marcks was born at Linwood Lawn, a historic pre-civil war plantation near Lexington, Mo., on Dec. 8, 1933. He attended Locust Grove grade school, a one- room country schoolhouse, for seven years. He graduated from Lexington High School and Wentworth Military Academy, and then attended Missouri University. In 1954, he married Jane Anne Bunning at her parent's house in Kansas City, Mo. He went to work at Montgomery Ward Co. and spent the next 29 years in management. He and Jane lived in eight cities, with him working at 11 different Ward's stores. He left the company in 1984 and opened General Rental Center at 34th and Western in 1987. He sold his business in 1999. Then he joined Jane in their art supply business and spent much of the next five years traveling throughout the U.S. and England. He was known as a good, honest, and hardworking Christian man. He was preceded in death by two infant sons; and his parents. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jeff Marcks and wife, Rhonda, of Austin, Phil Marcks and wife, Lori, of Lewisville, Barry Marcks and wife, Rapu, of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Russell and Keith Marcks of Arlington, Aaron and Scott Marcks of Austin, Amanda and Tommy Marcks of Lewisville, David and Alex Marcks of Sacramento; a sister, Mary Alice McFadden and husband, Virgil, of Lexington, Mo.; a brother, Raymond Marcks and wife, Donna, of Perry, Iowa; and two brothers-in-law, John Bunning and wife, Mary, of Denver and David Bunning and wife, Carolyn, of Little Rock, Ark. Amarillo Globe-News, March 4, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sister Fernanda Frischknecht Sister Fernanda Frischknecht, 97, of Amarillo died Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Francis Convent Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Convent Chapel with the Most Rev. John W. Yanta and Bishop Emeritus L.T. Matthiesen officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Sister Fernanda was born in St. Fiden, St. Gallen, Switzerland. She received her initial religious and professional training in Goldach and in Tubach, Switzerland. She traveled to Colombia, South America, in 1932. She was later sent to the Canal Zone and taught in Colon and Balboa, Republic of Panama. In 1950 she came to the United States and did graduate work, receiving a degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She taught in Long Beach and Los Angeles and in a number of schools in Texas. She retired from teaching in 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a brother. Survivors include her Franciscan Sisters of the Province of St. Francis. Amarillo Globe-News, March 4, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Garrido John Garrido, 32, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Plum Creek Fellowship. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Garrido was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and moved to California in 1975. He moved to Amarillo with his family in 1977. He was a 1992 graduate of Caprock High School. He married Melody Rene Gossett on Nov. 12, 1994, in Amarillo. He worked in management for Pizza Hut in Amarillo for more than 12 years. For the past two years he was a stay-at-home dad and husband, taking care of his two sons. John was an avid outdoorsman and a great cook. He loved to hunt, fish, cycle and loved archery. He was a member of Plum Creek Fellowship. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gabriel Michael Garrido and William Matthew Garrido, both of Amarillo; his parents, Ted and Doan Lizama of Amarillo; his mother and father-in-law, G.A. and Sherry Gossett of Amarillo; three brothers, Peter Lizama Garrido and Paul Lizama, both of Amarillo, and Richard Lizama of San Marcos; two nephews, Xavier Ray Garrido and Christian Talley Barnes, both of Amarillo; two nieces, Ashley Jenice Barnes and Jaymarie Lizama, both of Amarillo; and too many other family members to mention. She attended New Life Foursquare Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Alward in 1999 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford with the Rev. Joe Shultz officiating. Masonic Rites will be by Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Cabbiness was born Feb. 3, 1935, in O'Donnell, the son of Bryon G. and Esta Lee Brandon Cabbiness. His family later moved to Brownfield, where he graduated from Brownfield High School in 1953. Charles was a veteran, serving as a corporal in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during 1954. He married Jackie Farquhar on Nov. 28, 1956. Charles and his family moved to Hereford in 1967, where he worked in the insurance business as well as had farming interests. Ever the entrepreneur, Charles started Hereford Carthage Co. and in 1983, purchased BJM Sales and Service. In 1995, he married Kay Green. After retiring from BJM Sales and Service, Charles moved to Lubbock. Charles was a member of Hereford Fellowship of Believers Church and Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849. Charles' passion in life was for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Jobe. Survivors include his wife of Lubbock; five children, Mike Cabbiness and wife, Shala, of Hereford, Chris Cabbiness and wife, Kristi, of Canyon, Dana Ketchersid and husband, Bobby, of Lubbock, Stephenia Blount and husband, Mike, of Plains and Steve Green and wife, Kathy, of Georgetown; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 4, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hazel Darnell MEMPHIS - Hazel Darnell, 85, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Mrs. Darnell was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Gasoline to the late Joseph and Emma Jean (McWhorter) Tollett. She grew up in Hedley. She married Huley E. Darnell on Feb. 20, 1938. Mrs. Darnell returned to Hedley in 1953, and later moved to Memphis, where she resided for the last 20 years. She was a member of Giles Pioneer Quilting Club and First Baptist Church of Hedley. She spent much of her time caring for the elderly. Mrs. Darnell also enjoyed attending services at the Church of Christ in Memphis. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 29, 1998; and an infant daughter, Christine, in 1958. Survivors include four sons, Charlie Darnell and wife, Doralean, of Amarillo, Joe Darnell and wife, Melba, of Mobeetie, Lonnie Darnell and wife, Sharon, of Lubbock and Mike Darnell of Panhandle; six grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; a sister, Mutt Blanks of Memphis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with John Curry officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Hink was born March 4, 1921, in Clarksville, Ark. He was reared in Wheeler County and was a 1940 graduate of Kelton High School. He briefly attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview. He joined the Navy in July 1942. A veteran of World War II, he served as motor machinist mate on the USS LST 374, a transport ship that landed supplies and tanks. From July 1942 until December 1945, he participated in invasions of Sicily, Italy, France, and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He married Betty Jones on Feb. 24, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. He farmed in Wheeler County, and was employed by Cabot Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1979 as a warehouse foreman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, VFW Post No. 1657, U.S. LST Association, and Pampa Senior Citizens Center. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ledbetter and Henrietta Bennett; and two brothers, Irven Hink and Henry Hink Jr. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jere David Hink of Pampa; and a grandson, Aaron Lee Hink of Pampa. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Arlington Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Oil City, Okla., on May 24, 1926, to Joseph and Leona Cargo. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Her source of greatest happiness was the dedication of her life to Almighty God, Jehovah and her baptism in 1954. Being one of his Christian witnesses for more than 50 years and sharing her faith with others meant everything to her. We know that she is safely resting in God's hands until she stands again in the resurrection. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her dear husband of 56 years, Winford Z. Smith. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Kay Stephens and husband, Daniel, of Arlington, Joyce Gail Storie of Bedford and Lisa Smith of Arlington; two grandsons, Daniel Stephens Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Michael Shawn Storie of Bedford; a sister, Vera Jane Smith of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.
