Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Tascosa Road Fellowship Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hutson was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Amarillo, the daughter of Bill and Jerene McGill. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1965. On Nov. 13, 1965, she married Alan Bartlett. Of this union, two children were born, Kristy and Keith. Bettie lived many years in Colorado before returning to Amarillo six years ago. Because HE lives, we can face tomorrow. So many lives were touched by this wonderful lady. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She was so sweet and so gentle. She loved every creature on this earth. On Oct. 16, 2004, Bettie married Wayne Hutson. In their short time together, they were the two happiest people anyone could know. Most people do not know or will ever understand the love Bettie had for everyone. She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her husband; her father, of Amarillo; a daughter, Kristy Lammes and husband, Alan, of Amarillo; a son, Keith Bartlett and wife, Amber, of Brighton Colo.; a sister, Jerene Maxwell and husband, Sonny, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Shantel, Seth, Jadon and Mason; and many nieces and nephews. Smith, 84, of Amarillo died Friday, March 4, 2005. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Bridgeport. He had lived in Amarillo since 1939. Mr. Smith worked as a pipeline superintendent for Diamond Shamrock. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service. He served with the Navy on the U.S. LST 17 in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Smith, in September 1997. Ms. Wheeler was born in Odessa and moved to Amarillo with her family in 1978. She was a 1988 graduate of Amarillo High School. After graduation, she moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where she lived and worked as a collections agent until the time of her death. Lana loved her children more than anything else in the world and will be dearly missed by her family. Mrs. O'Reilly was born and raised in Canadian. She attended Canadian High School. She married Thomas O'Reilly. Mrs. O'Reilly worked for Bell Telephone as a supervisor in Pampa and worked for McDonnell Douglas as a switchboard operator. They moved to California in 1958, where she worked for the Los Angeles Police Department as a dispatcher. They moved back to Amarillo in 1985. She was active in St. Ritas Altar Society and volunteered at the Amarillo Agency for Women. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; two sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include two sisters, Juanita Macias of Stratford and Ramona Parra of Amarillo; four brothers, Salvador Parra of Lubbock and John Parra, Joseph Parra and Bernardo Parra, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews. She worked for the city of Amarillo in the engineering department until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Blackwell, in 2001 and seven sisters and brothers. He passed away on Dec. 27, 1991. She loved baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. She was of the Methodist faith. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mr. Sawyer was born July 21, 1932, in Clarendon and was a lifetime resident of Clarendon, except for 1976 to 1981, when he lived in Van Horn. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He attended Sul Ross University and graduated from Texas Tech University. He was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700. He had served on the board of directors of the Clarendon Outdoor Entertainment Association and was a member of the Texas Cattle Raisers Association and First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn McQueen. Mr. Barker was born April 23, 1922, in Goodnight in Armstrong County and was a resident of Clarendon for several years before moving to Groom in 1960. He married Yvonne Howerton on Oct. 17, 1942, at Clarendon. He had been a farmer and was employed at the Groom Grain Elevator prior to his retirement. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Groom. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Elliott was born July 19, 1934, in Cleveland, Ark., and moved to East Texas at the age of 11. He began his career in the Air Force in 1952. He served in Vietnam, Thailand, Spain, Australia, Okinawa and Guam. He was awarded numerous military honors. He retired after 20 years of service as a master sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force, he became a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in January 1997. He married Naomi "Dutch" Scribner on April 30, 1956. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1972. He was active as a volunteer and groundskeeper for the Old Mobeetie Jail Association. He was also emcee and a major fund-raiser for the Mobeetie Music Festival. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and two brothers. He received his bachelor's degree in film from the College of Santa Fe. He worked with John Schlesinger, a film director, in London from 1996 to 1998. He worked at Estyle in Los Angeles from 1996 to the time of his death as manager of corporate development. From 1995 to 1996, he was assistant to actress Marsha Mason, worked with Shirley MacLaine and assisted Paul McCartney on a music video. He worked on several productions for ABC and CBS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Bustamante on Feb. 9, 2004, and a brother, Brady Miller in 1990. Peet, 84, died Friday, March 4, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Breeden officiating. Burial will be Friday in Maryland Veterans Cemetery Garrison Forest. Mr. Peet was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Guy, N.M., to Frank and Hazel Peet. He was the husband of Margaret A. Peet for 52 years. McCleskey MIDLAND - John E. McCleskey, 81, formerly of Seminole, died Thursday, March 3, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Seminole with the Rev. Garcia, 94, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Truth or Consequences. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery with Lynn Clay and Chester Kimber officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Garcia was born in the Garcia Community, south of Pasamonte, on Oct. 24, 1910, to Fructuoso Garcia and Modesta Duran Garcia. He graduated from Grenville High School and was a member of the Baptist church. Vidal married Fannie Kate Ogle Garcia on May 18, 1936, in Raton, and she preceded him in death on March 25, 1947. A lifetime resident of Union County, Vidal worked on the Hutcherson Ranch at Hayden from 1946 until he retired in 1990. He continued to live on the Hutcherson Ranch in a house known as "the Jacob's Place" until 1998 when he left the community to spend some time with his children. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and three brothers, Frank Garcia and his wife, Tina, and Emilio Garcia and Fructuoso Garcia. Survivors include three daughters, DeLena Crisman and husband, Robert, of Truth or Consequences, Vidala Blalock and husband, Albert, of Amarillo, Texas, and Peggy Crawford of Nome, Alaska; a son, Larry Garcia and wife, Gloria, of Alamogordo; three sisters, Josephine Garcia of Clayton, Cleo Barbara and husband, John, of Albuquerque and Rafelita Tixier and husband, Cye, of Tucumcari; two brothers, Louis Garcia and wife, Ramona, and Salome Garcia and wife, Theresa, all of Albuquerque; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Garcia and Kathryn Garcia, both of Clayton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 6, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jean Yvonne Juett Belt FARMINGTON, N.M. - Jean Yvonne Juett Belt, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. No memorial services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Cope Memorial Chapel. Our beautiful little wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma has ridden her last horse; she has fished her last high mountain stream; hunted her last deer; danced her last dance to the music at the Elk's Club; and made her last trip to Mesquite and Las Vegas. My mom was born in Amarillo, Texas, to Garrett and Rachel Juett, who were farmers and ranchers in and around the Amarillo area. She grew up on a working farm and loved the outdoors. She could fish better than any man and always caught more fish than my dad. My mother met my dad, Melvin Belt, when she was 10 years old and he was nine. They began going steady when they were 15 and 16 years old. They married on March 9, 1946, when dad returned home from serving as a Marine in the Pacific in World War II. My parents have three children. Mom and dad moved from Amarillo to Shiprock in February 1962. My mother went to work for Consolidated School District 22 as an elementary school secretary. She worked for the school district for the next 35 years, retiring at the age of 75. She truly loved her job and all of the people she worked with. She continued to miss them all the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents of Amarillo; her younger bother, Bill Juett of Amarillo; and a grandson, Quintin Juett Belt of Farmington. Survivors include three children, Michael Melvin Belt of La Plata, Nancy Newland-McBride of Durango, Colo., and Rachel Jeanine Lackey of Paris, Texas; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
