Vaughn Robert D. Vaughn, 71, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 6, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. John Bridwell officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Vaughn was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Amarillo, the son of Perry H. and Lois L. Walker Vaughn. He graduated from Amarillo High School and West Texas State University. He served with the Army. Mr. Vaughn taught school at Lee Bivins Elementary School for 31 years, retiring in 1989. He was an active member of the San Jacinto Masonic Lodge No. 1330 A.F.&A.M. and the Khiva Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a sister, Wanda V. Cole and husband, Marion, of Amarillo; and three nephews, Jeff Bomgaars, his wife, Sandi, and children, Jennifer and Brian; James Bomgaars, his wife, Belinda, and daughter, Stephanie; and Jack Bomgaars, his wife, Shannon, and son, Joshua, of Oklahoma City. Coulter St. Mrs. Smith was born in Canadian. She moved to Amarillo in 1974 from Canadian. She and her husband owned and operated the Amarillo KOA campground for several years. She married Marion H. Smith in 1941 at Canadian. They attended Gem City Community Church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Frankie Faye Smith of Fullerton, Calif., and Cathy Conyers and husband, Ed, of Port Orford, Ore.; and two granddaughters, Dawn Guela and Star Conyers, both of Seattle. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Chico was born to Pioquiento and Francis Rodriquez on July 23, 1965, in Plainview. She attended Plainview schools and graduated in the class of 1983. She attended West Texas A&M and worked as a case worker for The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo. She married Jessie Chico on July 4, 1987, in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Yuri Chico of Amarillo; three sisters, Belinda Sanchez and husband, Joe, of Plainview, Hilda Rosales and husband, Martin, of Sherwood, Ark., and Marylou Canales and husband, Joe, of Victoria; and two brothers, Juan Rodriquez of Sherwood, Ark., and Juan Rodriquez of Plainview. She had taught school for civil service and also taught in Amarillo schools. She married George Stepneck on Feb. 21, 1958, in France. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 25, 2001, in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, George Stepneck and wife, LaShawn, of Amarillo; a grandson, Jason Stepneck of Amarillo; and a brother, George Crawford of Palatka, Fla. Cody Shea McDougle, 39, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Greg Greenhouse officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home. Mr. McDougle was born Sept. 2, 1965, in Memphis, to Virginia Hancock-Boyd and J.B. McDougle. He grew up in Borger and graduated from Borger High School in 1983. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1988. During his enlistment, he worked as an air traffic controller and served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He retired from the Air Force in 1992. He lived in Phoenix and moved to Pampa in December 2004. Mr. McDougle was a Baptist. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and Hospice staff of the VA Hospital in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Ruth McDougle. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Hancock-Boyd and husband, Jim, of Pampa; his father, J.B. McDougle and wife, Mary Jane, of Borger; his grandparents, John and Margaret Hancock of Memphis; a sister, Stephanie Spillers and husband, Bob, of Amarillo; a niece; a nephew; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Mrs. Bookout was born April 26, 1928, in Henrietta. She married Noble Kenneth Bookout on Oct. 16, 1948, in Archer City. Mrs. Gaytan was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Zacatecas, Mexico. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Valles was born May 25, 1921, in Matamoris, Mexico. He married Maria Trinidad on Dec. 17, 1945, in Rio Grande. Survivors include three sons, Johnny Joe Valles of Plainview, and Eligio Valles and Hector Valles, both of Austin; two daughters, Carmen Perez of Plainview and Rosa Linda Aguirre of Dodge City, Kan.; a brother, Domingo Valles of Houston; a sister, Lola Urvina of Matamoris; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Mr. McCord was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Sweetwater, Okla. He married Gladys Barton in Earth on June 8, 1938. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Canyon with Douglas Bingham, bishop, officiating. Burial will be in Spanish Fork Cemetery in Spanish Fork, Utah. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 Coulter St. Mr. Cloward was born in Payson, Utah, to Tom and Laura Cloward. He married Ruth Hayes in a civil ceremony in 1934. They were remarried in 1967 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He owned and operated multiple restaurants from 1929 until his retirement in 1974. After that, he worked as a security guard for Owens Corning and Bank of the Southwest. He was called "The Singing Chef" because he loved to sing and had a beautiful voice that everyone enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981; a daughter, Peggy Jones in 1982; four brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo Shelton and husband, Buddy, of Amarillo; a son, Don H. Cloward of Grabill, Ind.; a sister, Rhea McBeth of Payson, Utah; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great- grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 8, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere James Murphy White GRAHAM - James Murphy White, 79, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Dallas. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Jim Hancock, longtime Canyon pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. White died Saturday at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas after complications caused by a heart attack and diabetes. Mr. White was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Plainview to pioneer ranching family, Jim and Vada White. Murphy lived in Canyon most of his adult life. He graduated from WT High and attended West Texas State University. He relocated to Possum Kingdom Lake in 1994. Murphy served in the Air Force as a crew chief on a C-47 while stationed at Biloxi, Miss. After the war, he returned to Canyon where he continued in the family farming and ranching business, director/stockholder in West Texas State Bank, as well as other business ventures. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Byars White, whom he met while attending WT High and WTSU. During his marriage to Shirley they had two children. Survivors include two daughters, Abbey Bates and husband, Bater, of Dallas and Krista Stephenson and husband, Steve, of Tyler; four grandchildren; a brother, Joe Dale White of Amarillo; a close friend and companion, Nadene Lyles of Amarillo and Canyon; and two sisters-in-law, Billie and Harold Erwin and family of Amarillo and Joan Connor and family of Canyon. The family suggests memorials be to Possum Kingdom West Lake Volunteer EMS, HC 74 Box 417, Graham, TX 76450. Visitation will be at the church following the service.
