Amarillo Globe-News, March 10, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eula Bailey Williams DALHART - Eula Bailey Williams, 90, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Clifford Dane, minister to senior adults at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams was delivered to Pearl and R.L. "Bob" Bailey on March 11, 1914, in Miles. The family moved to San Angelo where Eula completed public school and secretarial courses. She and Ennis Williams met, courted and were married Oct. 25, 1937. The couple spent their first two years together in Illinois, where Ennis worked in the oil fields. They returned to San Angelo where their daughter Carol was born. In 1946, the family moved to Dalhart. Here they built and operated Dalhart Court. Eula was a very faithful and active member of First Baptist Church. She taught a junior girls Sunday school class and was superintendent of the junior department for many years. Her special ministry was finding clothing, food, shelter and/or money for the needy of the community and for stranded travelers. In 1953, the family acquired a citrus grove and farm in the Rio Grande Valley, near Donna. Seven years later upon the acquisition of Dalhart's John Deere dealership, they returned to resume their life in Dalhart. Eventually they traded the business for a farm, and in 1970, embarked on a business for which Eula and Ennis shared a passion: They opened The Antique Store. They both loved the craftsmanship, quality, and beauty of vintage furniture and objets d'art. Eula continued to operate the business until 1990, at which time her daughter assumed management of the business. Eula, who exhibited an artistic talent, began studying art and painting at age 13. She was a gifted floral arranger and without a model or drawing, could create magic with a pair of scissors and paper or poster board. The term "in-law" did not apply to any of the people that married and loved any of Eula's family. In her heart and mind their love for her loved ones made them family. She knew the meaning of the term but scarcely, if ever, used it. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Wallace Bailey; precious sisters and husbands, Robbie Lee and H. W. Watson, Sallie and Paul Snyder; a sister Clara's husband and son, Frank and James Boyle.
