Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. G.A. Roach, pastor of Community Chapel, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Mendez was born in Weir. He had been a resident of Amarillo for 54 years. He had an auto repair shop on Amarillo Boulevard West for 40 years. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy was his family. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Mendez; his parents; three sisters; and a brother. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Kathie Grant of Amarillo; a son, Larry Don Mendez of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Larry Don Mendez Jr., Tammy Oldham, Anthony Mendez, Jill Frank and Jacki Grant, all of Amarillo; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Mendez, Tanner Oldham, Channing Mendez, Abby Mendez, Brennan Mendez, Jayden Oldham and Julia Frank; a brother, Nar Mendez of Amarillo; and four sisters, Angie Hart, Margaret Longbine and Teresa Mendez, all of Amarillo, and Mary Ann Knause of Wichita Falls. Georgia St. Mrs. Waddill was born in Galveston to Robert Pitt and Marguerite Beman. She graduated from Houston Central High School. After completing high school she went on to earn a degree in French, graduating with Phi Beta Kappa Honors from Rice University. She married Dr. George M. Waddill who practiced pediatrics in Amarillo. They were married for 61 years before he died in November 1998. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit Mexico, Paris, Canada, the Galapagos Islands and much of the United States. Mrs. Waddill was a charter member of the Amarillo Chapter of the Audubon Society and an active member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was also a past president of the Women's Auxillary of the Potter-Randall County Medical Society and docent of Amarillo Art Center. Survivors include a daughter, Molly Hershman and husband, Richard, of Venice, Fla.; a son, Michael Waddill of Hancock, N.H.; five grandchildren, David, Stacey, Douglas, Stephanie and Nathan; and five great-grandchildren. Osborne on Jan. 29, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Both attended Penn State University where they met. Four children blessed this union. She was a homemaker and was involved in the County Extension Club for more than 50 years. She faithfully served her family, her community and her church throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984; her parents, Bill and Elmina Williams Deck; and a daughter, Merrilyn Beck in 1965. After graduating from Pratt High School, she moved to Stratford, where she was a longtime resident. She attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. She married C.C. "Pinkey" Plunk in 1949 in Stratford. She was an RN for several doctors in the Stratford and Sherman County community. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the prayers, visits and tokens of kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a Dumas resident since 1967. He was a Portales, N.M., resident for 11 years and then moved to Spade. Jenkins, 81, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David England, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Jenkins was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Dallas to Gains and Leila Jenkins. He grew up on the family ranch west of Fort Sumner. He graduated in 1940 from Panhandle High School. He joined the Army Air Corps in October 1942. He retired from the Air Force in 1963. He worked heavy construction and was a real estate broker in Alaska until his health forced his retirement from those professions in 1985. He and his wife of almost 62 years, Gloria Cantrell Jenkins, then moved to Tucumcari. While being stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho, he was a Scout master for a number of years for the award-winning Boy Scout Troop 52 and was a member of Eagle Scout Search and Rescue Post 52. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Fay in 1977. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Grap and husband, Rick, of Tucumcari; a son, Jerry Jenkins and wife of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mary Washburn and Gerry and Leila Kyle, all of Fort Sumner; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rape was born Jan. 14, 1915, to Sim and Grace McMinn, a pioneering Hale Center family. She attended Hale Center schools, graduating as valedictorian in 1931. In 1965, while a resident of Borger, she took a degree as a licensed vocational nurse, scoring among the top 10 students on the 1967 licensing exam. At her death, Mrs. Rape was a member of the Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, though her health had forced her to be inactive for several years. Loraine Rape was a delight to all who knew her, with her unequaled sense of humor and kindness of heart. She enjoyed being a homemaker and expressed her creativity and love of knowledge through quilting, needlework, and reading. As the Scottish saying goes: "We are missing you already." She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, to whom she was married for 65 years. Amarillo Globe-News, March 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Herman Luke Brents ODESSA - Herman Luke Brents, 77, died Thursday, March 10, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. E. Barnard officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Brents was born July 23, 1927, to Jeff Otto Brents and Viola Gracie Sweet in Archer City. He was raised in Vega and graduated in 1946. He moved from Amarillo to Odessa in 1965, and then to Amarillo again in the late 1980s. He moved back to Odessa in 1998. He retired several years ago from the wholesale food industry. The family wishes to thank Nurses Unlimited and Home Hospice for their excellent care. There is nothing love cannot face. There is no limit to its hope, its faith and its endurance. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evon Lusk; and four brothers, Leon, Louie, Jeff Odell and Forrest Brents. Survivors include a brother, Tom Brents of Liberty; the mother of our children, Marie Cox of Odessa; four daughters, Sue Hanna and husband, Richard, of Amarillo, Sandy Beasley and husband, Charlie, of Midland, and Brenda Hanks and husband, Tony, and Becca Brents, all of Odessa; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Nurses Unlimites and Home Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, March 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Elmer "Bob" Dwight CANYON LAKE - Robert Elmer "Bob" Dwight, 81, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in San Antonio. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel at Canyon Lake with the Rev. Mal Hierholzer officiating. Mr. Dwight was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Ardmore, Okla., to Clyde O. and Lena Ruth (Gray) Dwight. He grew up in McLean and was an educator at Samnorwood. Mr. Dwight served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Nancy Sue Grimm on June 12, 1946, in Athens, W.Va. He was a career Texas educator and served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader for 40 years, where he received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a lifetime member of National Education Association and Texas Association of School Administrators. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge and a member of Scottish Rite. He was also a member of Lions Club of Texas, American Legion Post 643 of Canyon Lake and Canyon Lake United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; three children, Dorothy Sue Reed and husband, Larry, of San Saba, Ruth Elizabeth Deily and husband, Michael, of Canyon Lake and Robert Dwight and wife, Dayna, of Blessing; 10 grandchildren, Chaney Reed, Elizabeth Adams, Robert Reed, Owen Harvey, Kendra Jimenez, Alex Deily, Sayrah Dwight, Taylor Dwight, Tyler Dwight and Tarah Dwight; two great-grandchildren, Spruce Adams and Alexa Reed; two brothers, Clyde Dwight and wife, Louise, of Coleman and David Dwight and wife, Bobbie, of Leanord; and a large extended family. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in North Amarillo Church of Christ in Amarillo, Texas, with Glen Walton officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel in Amarillo, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Wall was born in Bell County. He served in the Army as a master sergeant and was stationed at New Guinea and Burma with the Merrill's Marauders. He served during the Korean War at Chosin Reservoir. Mr. Wall married Wyona Lee West on Aug. 15, 1944, in Slaton. He retired from Asarco and was a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 8, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Melva Messer of Tulsa, Okla.; four sons, Bernie Wall of Farmers Branch, Texas, Dennis Wall and Casey Wall, both of Amarillo, and Patrick Wall of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a brother, Herman Wall of Winsor, Canada.
