Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Danny Logan, pastor of Bell Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Crandall was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Shamrock to the late Arthur Randall Clay and Della Clay. She was raised in Wheeler and Collingsworth counties, where she attended school at Wheeler, Dozier and Samnorwood. She later attended West Texas State Teacher's College, now known as West Texas A&M University. On March 2, 1960, Mrs. Crandall married Richard C. Crandall of Amarillo. She began writing stories and articles in 1973. She holds diplomas from The Institute of Children's Literature and Writer's Digest School. She has had many articles published in various magazines and has won numerous citations for her writing. Mrs. Crandall was one of the co-founders and was vice president of the Amarillo Chapter of Inspirational Writers Alive!, an organization dedicated to writing inspirational and religious material. She was also a longtime member of Panhandle Professional Writers. She was the author of two books entitled "If Mama Had Been at the Alamo" and "Five to Get Ready." She was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolly Bradstreet, Lottie Mae Clay and Vivian Sikes. Survivors include her husband; a sister, Estelle Surber and husband, Dennis, of Shamrock; two sons, Brian Crandall and wife, Traci, of Houston and Richard "Rick" Crandall of Amarillo; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Monsignor Rex Nicholl, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, officiating. Military rites will be by DAV Chapter 26. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Bargas was born Jan. 1, 1920, in General Sepeda, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Cirilo and Pancila Bargas. He served with the Army during World War II, receiving a purple heart and campaign ribbons from Germany, France and Italy. He retired as a pipe fitter for the Long Beach Naval shipyard. Nick was a Catholic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Bargas in 2004; a son, Nick Bargas Jr. in 1997; and a daughter, SanJuana Rangel in 1996. Survivors include four sons, Sidney Bargas of Los Angeles, Robert Bargas and Carlos Bargas, both of Roswell, and Rudy Bargas of Murrieta, Calif.; a brother, Eugene Vargas of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Monsignor Joseph Tash of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Meridian Cemetery in Meridian. Mr. Hardwick was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Meridian to Ruth and William Asbury Hardwick. He served in the Army and was a decorated veteran of World War II and Korea. He graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in petroleum engineering and from the University of Houston with a degree in electrical engineering. At his retirement he was international vice president of Creole Production Services, serving in the Middle East and London for many years. After retiring from the petroleum industry, he was based in Longview, traveling throughout Texas as an agent for several companies serving mostly senior citizens. Mr. Hardwick married Kay R. Britten on Aug. 31, 2003, and moved to Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Truair and husband, Dean, of Round Rock; a son, C.K. "Buddy" Hardwick Jr. and wife, Karen, of Columbia, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Marsha Morrow Bustos and husband, Tom, of Kingwood; a stepson, Donald Ray Morrow Jr. and wife, Annette, of Rogers, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was born and raised in Amarillo. He lived here most of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of Amarillo High School. He married LaVerne Beck Flanagan on Feb. 17, 1949, in Amarillo. He was a meat cutter since the age of 13 and did that for more than 50 years. He loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Williams attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Edith Williams; two sisters, Betty Willingham and Pauline Clevenger; his son-in-law, Frank Reinhardt; his granddaughter, Kelly Kemper; and his great-granddaughter, Aspen Childers. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Spiker was born in Amarillo to Elmer and Nellie Spiker and lived here all of his life. He married Judy Singleterry on March 14, 1964, in Amarillo. He was a devoted husband of 41 years to the love of his life. He worked for Maywood for 27 years and also worked for Multiple Systems Inc. for 13 years. At the time of his death, he worked for High Plains Millwright out of Plainview. Jim loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and his dog, Adolf. He had a great love for his family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Spiker in 1987. "Al" Davis, 75, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bell Avenue Church of Christ with John McMath and Glen Walton officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Stinnett Cemetery in Stinnett by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Davis was born Nov. 24, 1929, at Whitt. He attended Phillips High School in Borger. He joined the Army and was in the Korean conflict. He married Nelva Sue "Suzy-Q" Lundy on Aug. 6, 1951, at Sneed. Mr. Davis was a maintenance supervisor for a pipeline company and retired in 1985. He moved to Fort Worth, where he worked for the Air Force National Guard in Grand Prairie and also retired from there. He then moved back to Amarillo in 1992. After returning to Amarillo, he worked at BB Lumber Company (Ace) for five years. He was an active member of the Church of Christ all of his life. Mr. Davis loved his bird dogs and competing in field trials. He also loved to fish and go camping. He was a loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debbye Bell White and husband, Robert Dale, of Fort Worth; two brothers, Joe W. Davis and Harold D. Davis, both of Weatherford; two granddaughters, Natalie Sherman and husband, Richard, of Fort Worth and Karen Bell Butler of Plainview; five great-grandchildren. He spent 40 years as the owner-operator of KCTX radio station in Childress. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Morey. He moved to Arizona 34 years ago from Texas. He was a member of The Church at Arrowhead. He was assistant director of Arizona Good Sams and past president of Arizona Drifting Sams.
