Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Eddy Mardis, associate pastor of Cowboy Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Betzen was born Nov. 14, 1971, in Odessa. He was employed by Nationwide Insurance of Amarillo and loved his children. Survivors include his mother, Brianna Jane Meyer and husband, Ross, of Guymon, Okla.; his father, Jim Betzen of Montana; two brothers, Ronnie Evan Betzen and Aaron James Betzen, both of Amarillo; a sister, Amy Marie Yarger of Guymon; a son, Austin Michael Betzen; and a daughter, Keeli Michelle Betzen. Amarillo Globe-News, April 9, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Julia Ruth Lambert Julia Ruth Lambert, 84, of Amarillo died Thursday April 7, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Johnathan Mast officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Lambert was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Washita, Okla. She graduated from Allison High School, playing on two state championship basketball teams in 1938 and 1939 while attending there. She worked for 30 years as a receptionist for Dr. Lonnie Redus and was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Ray; two sons, Roscoe Hooper of Farmington, N.M., and John Lambert of Amarillo; a daughter, Sandra Box of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Gene Richardson of Tulia; eight grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Keith Schoonover, her son, and Mike Smith, minister of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Schoonover was born to John and Hettie Goodwin on April 7, 1918, in Kim, Colo. She lived in Dumas for 53 years and was a homemaker. On Dec. 25, 1937, she married Arvel Schoonover. She was a longtime member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 11, 1994. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Schoonover and wife, Linda, of Bartlesville, Okla., and Keith Schoonover and wife, Jenelle, of Spring; a daughter, Brenda Burnes and husband, Chuck, of Dumas; a brother, Paul Goodwin of North Richland Hills; two sisters, Faye Johnston of Lubbock and Myrtle Winchell of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sweatt was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Quail. She married Tom Sweatt on Jan. 17, 1937, in Wellington. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Ned Sweatt of Arlington, Kenneth Dale Sweatt of Altus, Okla., and Darrel Wayne Sweatt of Memphis; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford with the Rev. Jim Bulin officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Monday in Fairlawn Cemetery in Snyder, Okla., by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Brewer was born July 21, 1961, in Andrews, the son of Monty and Gladys Brewer. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1979. He was a cowboy, a fence builder, loved to rodeo and was a member of Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Monty and Gladys Brewer of Hereford; a son, Justin Brewer of Amarillo; three daughters, Tabitha Brewer of Fort Worth, and Kayla Brewer and Chanel Brewer, both of Slydel; a grandmother, Vanita Brewer of Snyder; a brother, Roy Brewer of Hereford; a sister, Melissa "Missy" Miller of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with Jeff Addison officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Myers-Chancellor Funeral Home. Mr. Rucker was born July 31, 1922, in Denton. He married his wife of 40 years, Patsy Jean Carpenter, in 1965. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II. He retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1987. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kena Jean Andrews; and a son, Jerry Wayne Martin. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Rucker Smith of Amarillo and Donna Jean Rucker of Quitaque; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Quitaque; Resthaven Cemetery or Caprock Library in Quitaque. Mr. Veal was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Levelland, Texas. He was a fun-loving square dancer and he also loved to polka. Survivors include his wife, Carmen; two daughters, Linda McGehee of Winterville, N.C., and Brenda Hobart of Apple Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Dorsey Cadotte and Lova Veal; and two grandchildren.
