Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with James Haynes officiating. Mrs. Marier attended meetings at Parkway Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Marier in 1976. Survivors include three daughters, Jodie Hale of Amarillo, Cheryl Arwa and husband, James of Rochester, N.H., and Sandy Boris and husband, Dale, of Troy, Mich.; a brother, Erine Cothren and wife, Enid, of Amarillo; a sister, Lillie Blythe of Pasadena; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Bradley Spears, pastor of Southwest Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Miss Russell was born Sept. 21, 1952, in Amarillo. Sandra cleaned Samborn Baptist Church for 26 years. She will be dearly missed by her great-nieces and nephews. Survivors include two brothers, Charles Russell and wife, Maria, of Lubbock and Jimmy Russell and wife, Robin, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Mary Fowler and husband, Carl, of Amarillo; four nephews, Dewaine Doran and wife, Amanda, Timothy Doran and wife, Deena, and David Doran and wife, Jami, all of Amarillo, and Chris Russell of Albuquerque; a niece, Tiffany Russell of Albuquerque; three great-nephews; and two great-nieces. Amarillo Globe-News, April 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Pauline Evans Hefley WHEELER - Pauline Evans Hefley, 88, died Saturday, April 9, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gageby Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Hefley was born Dec. 29, 1916, to the Rev. O.C. and Earl Jane Evans. She married Clifford Hefley on Dec. 29, 1934. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2000, in Wheeler. Mrs. Hefley lived in the Gageby Community as an adult, moving to Wheeler in 1965. She was very active in the United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Wheeler Library, the Thursday Review Club and the Garden Club. She loved to sew and loved to china paint. Of all her hobbies, she loved her garden the most. Before she became unable to play in her yard, she had such joy nurturing her beautiful flowers with love. She loved people, from the family to all who knew her. She loved her church. She felt so at home sitting in her seat at church. She touched so many lives with her love and caring. Her extended family included many devoted sitters who helped her through her last years. She was frail, but her heart was overflowing. She felt these were her "girls" and loved them all so much. The family wants to thank some very special people: Janice Scales, Pam Hibler, Joyce Carr, Mona Compton, Debra Ford, Dr. Mendiola, Lana Keisha with Odyssey Hospice and the staff at Parkview Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Marra Sue; her parents; a sister, Val Massey; and two brothers, Eldred Evans and Gene Evans. Survivors include two daughters, Thelma Earlene Greene of Riverside, Calif., and Beth Alvey and husband, Jim, of Wheeler; two sons, Joe Hefley and wife, Camilla, of Cooper and David Hefley and wife, Phyllis, of Briscoe; two sisters, Laverna Fillingim and husband, Willis, of Wheeler and Mary Evans VanZandt and husband, J.W., of Hide-A-Way; nine grandchildren, Tony, Theresa, Kerri, Darren and Kristi Hefley and Todd, Tina, Jim Jr. and Mari Alvey; 11 great-grandchildren; and three nieces, Sunny, Carol and Casey. Mrs. Galvan was born Aug. 25, 1948, in Asherton to Jose Tijerina and Teofila Casanova Tijerina. She married Enrique Galvan Jr. on Feb. 4, 1968, in Hereford. Survivors include two sons, Daniel Galvan and Enrique Galvan III, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Elena Villalobos of Dallas; six brothers, Jose Tijerina Jr. of Nyssa, Ore., and Julian Tijerina, Gilbert Tijerina, Fred Tijerina, Jessie Tijerina and Mario Tijerina, all of Hereford; four sisters, Maria Elena Villarreal of Saginaw, Mich., and Rosa Fitchett, Grace Mendiola and Beanida Garza, all of Hereford; and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Lovett was born April 16, 1923, in Shreveport, La. She had been a Stratford resident for 63 years. She married George Thomas Lovett Sr. on Jan. 30, 1942, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in July 2004. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Lovett Jr. of Stratford and Michael Lovett of China; two daughters, Stephanie Folley and MiChelle Lovett, both of Amarillo; a brother, Tommy Walker of Belen, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson was born March 8, 1930, to Thomas and Beulah Gaither Arnold. She married Herbert Wayne Wilson on May 25, 1946, in Pleasanton. Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas Wilson of Abilene; two daughters, Kay Smith of Pleasanton and Teresa Garcia of Alamosa, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 11, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betty Lou Florer-Miller BORGER - Betty Lou Florer-Miller, 81, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors with family friend Bill Medley offering words of comfort to the family. Betty's wishes were to be cremated with her ashes to be spread with her son Toby's. Mrs. Florer-Miller passed away surrounded by her children and sister in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Sapulpa, Okla. She lived in Amarillo the past three years and had previously lived in Borger for 65 years. Betty was a wonderful mother of eight who always put her children's needs before everything else. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the many people who touched our mother's life during her illness: Amarillo High Plains Dialysis Center, Jan Werner Transportation, Amarillo Agency on Aging and BSA Hospice Services. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orey and Faye Gentry; a brother, Eugene; a sister, Nadine Calloway; a son, Toby Florer; and husbands Melvin Florer and Wayne Miller. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Four Square Gospel Church in Perryton with the Rev. Carmen Cano officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Soto was born in Mexico and lived in the Houston area for three years, moving from Mexico. He was a farmer/rancher. Survivors include his wife, Manuela; three daughters, Emma Estrada of Houston, Norma Lopez of Perryton and Arcelia Lopez of Mexico City; two sons, Elizardo Martinez and Carlos Martinez Jr., both of Perryton; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
