Fajardo Agnes P. Fajardo, 83, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 12, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today with a wake to follow at the old town church in Luck. Rosary will be said at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Fajardo was born May 31, 1921, in Puerto de Luna, N.M. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by her family. Mrs. Fajardo had been a resident of Amarillo for more than half a century until she joined her family in Austin earlier this year. Agnes, a flare of love in eternal light, has gone beyond the sky leaving behind the memories of her sparkling eyes, her warm smile and motherly love. Known by many, loved by all, Agnes decided to join her true love, Felipe M. Fajardo, husband of 56 years, while her humorous quirks, smirks and joyful laughter echo in eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Larry; 10 brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include four children; eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Fajardo and their children, Camille and Nathan, Mr. Willie Marsh and Nita Fajardo-Marsh and their children, Mr. Derek Hatley and Cayce Marsh, and Christina Fajardo and her children, Adriane and Christian Ethridge, all of Austin, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fajardo and their children, Ruby and Amber of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of Austin or Travis County Democratic Party. Amarillo Globe-News, April 15, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Virginia Wilson Virginia Wilson, 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 13, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bob Miller of South Georgia Baptist Church, Cory Sams of Cliffside Baptist Church and George Haddox of Hollywood Road Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson was born Jan. 4, 1920. She married Marion Wilson on Aug. 22, 1938. She retired from Bushland School in 1994 after 37 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International and was also a founding member of Cliffside Baptist Church in 1954, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Florence Henard; and two sisters, Martha Boshears and Edna Henard. Survivors include her husband; a son, Larry Wilson and wife, Sue, of Denton; a daughter, Sandra Allm and husband, Harold, of Amarillo; four sisters, Lida Mae Beason of Amarillo, and Lillian Ashcroft, Gladys Smith and Ada Blevins, all of Malvern, Ark.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Arden Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Bigham, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Schmechel was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. Her family moved to Algona, Iowa, in 1958. She graduated from Algona High School in 1974. Sue moved to Texas in 1979. While raising two children, she attended nursing school at Texas Tech University for three years. She then began working in the eyewear industry. She worked in corporate management positions until her retirement in 2002. On Feb. 14, 2002, Sue married Doug Schmechel at Glenwood Springs, Colo. They moved from Berthoud, Colo., to Amarillo in July 2002. She participated as a partner in their residential construction business. She loved spending time with her grandkids, participating in local Bible studies and volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House. She attended Arden Road Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jessica Mayfield and husband, Charles, of Lubbock; a son, Ben Heller and wife, Julie, of Amarillo; her parents, Paul and Arline Owens of Bella Vista, Ark.; two brothers, Dan Owens and wife, Sandy, of McKinney and Kevin Owens of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Jean Klein and husband, Norman, of Lincoln, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Aaron Mayfield, Mason Mayfield, Cooper Heller and Calee Heller. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Peters was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Biloxi, Miss., to Mr. and Mrs. Tilly and Kaye (Norris) Peters. He served his country in the Navy. Survivors are unknown at this time. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jones moved to Amarillo in 1950. He was a graduate of Palo Duro High School in 1961. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 20 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Jones on April 13, 2004. Survivors include a son, Troy Allen St. Tours of Austin; a daughter, Natalie Suzanne St. Tours of Port Orchard, Wash.; his father, Orris E. Jones of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Mr. Cassetty had been a member of Chalcedony Masonic Lodge in Holbrook, Ariz., since 1979, and a member of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Las Vegas since 2001. Survivors include his wife, Kay of Las Vegas; his parents, Walter L. Cassetty Sr. and Mildred B. (Rowan) Cassetty of Princeton; two daughters, Tina K. Chapman and husband, Darren, and Catherine M. Miguel was born July 23, 1995, in Fort Worth. He was a student at Crockett Elementary School. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Conway Wood, elder of Albuquerque, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Higgins was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Reed, Okla., to Andrew Hardy and Angie Pearl Fickling Higgins. He was a Primitive Baptist. He married Edith May VanHorn on Feb. 10, 1940. He was a self-employed hog farmer until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife in August 2003; his parents; three sisters; and six brothers. Survivors include four daughters, Lilly Bolinger of Silom Springs, Ark., Wilma Sharp of Tomball, and Wanda Coody and Loretta Stovall, both of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Hill, 78, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clayton, N.M., and the Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Hill was born to Albert and Irene Hill on Oct. 13, 1926, in Guymon, Okla. He lived in the Stratford area for 48 years. He graduated from Felt School in 1944. In 1945, he was drafted into the military and served for a year. On Aug. 28, 1948, he married Mary Taylor in Clayton. In 1949, he graduated from Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Okla., where he taught agriculture classes for a short time. After moving to Texhoma he taught veterans classes. In 1957, he and his family moved to Stratford, where he farmed, sold real estate, irrigation equipment and insurance. He was a loyal member of the Methodist Church in Stratford, taught Sunday school classes and served on many boards and committees. He belonged to Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Sherman County Older Texans. He served on the Stratford City Council, Area Foundation board, Stratford ISD board and museum board. A favorite activity was helping and giving to blood drives, where he received a "3 gallon" pin. He was preceded in death by a son, Kirby Hill; and a brother, Chester Hill. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kevin Hill and wife, Vicki, of Austin and Keith Hill of Stratford; two sisters, Georgia Rammage and husband, Joe, and Billie Ruth French and son, Steve, all of Dalhart; a grandson, Daniel Hill; a granddaughter, Ashley Hill; a niece, Meredith Hill; and a nephew, J.R. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Catholic Church with the Rev. Carl Janocha officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Orth was born July 23, 1929, in St. Joe, Kan. He married Betty M. Crumley in 1949 at Kingman. Survivors include three sons, R.L. Orth of Midland, Texas, Donald R. Orth of Elk City and Chris Orth of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and four sisters from the Kansas area. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Channing. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery by Memorial Funeral Chapel. Mrs. McCoy was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Duke, Okla., to Jack and Oma Mullinix. Mrs. McCoy was a bookkeeper for Dalhart Co-Operative until moving to South Dakota where she was secretary to superintendent of schools. Upon returning to Texas, she and her husband, Walter Cecil McCoy, resided in Channing where they built and operated a restaurant. Her husband was mayor of Channing. Upon sale of the restaurant, she and her husband moved to Bryan. Ruby and her husband served as distributors for a food supplement company. She was a former member of Alexander United Methodist Church in Bryan and a member of First United Methodist Church in Channing. She was active in both churches. She was preceded in death by her husband; two children, Eralou and Kimball McCoy; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Annabelle Copeland and Della Stevens. Survivors include two daughters, Mickey Presnal and husband, Bill, of Bryan and Wanda Mitchell of Pampa; a son, Roy McCoy of Amarillo; two brothers, Delbert Mullinix and wife, Wanda, of Oklahoma City and Coleman Mullinix and wife, Millie, of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Regina Coley and husband, Bud, of Beeville and Maudene Polson of Milton Tree Creek, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
