"Boots" Allen O.D. "Boots" Allen, 83, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 17, 2005. Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Allen was born in Hamilton County. He married Sarah Alvey in 1941 at Plainview. They moved to Amarillo in 1944 from Plainview. The couple owned and operated Allen Welding and Machines until 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; and four brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Coombes of Amarillo; three sons, Michael Dale Allen and Greg Allen, both of Amarillo, and George Allen of Dewey, Okla.; two sisters, Lillian "Cooter" Lee and Blanche Hobson, both of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Isgrigs, 70, of Amarillo died Friday, April 15, 2005, in Phoenix. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by DAV Chapter 26. Mr. Isgrigs was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Granite City, Ill. He lived in Bourbon, Mo., as a child and after high school moved to Royal Oak, Mich. He joined the Air Force in 1954. He was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base, where he met and married the love of his life, Nancy McKechnie, on June 1, 1955. After 8 years in the service he started work for Sears, taking early retirement in 1991. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pam Buffington of Pryor, Okla., and Dr. Cindy Hutson of Phoenix; a son, Michael Isgrigs of Hindsville, Ark.; and six grandchildren. Mr. Alexander was born to Donald J. and Ele Alexander on Sept. 18, 1947, in Amarillo. He attended Dumas schools. He served in the Army and Navy and later became an offshore operator for Oxy International. He was a resident of Dumas for 30 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Andy Alexander. She married Elvin Glenn on July 3, 1940, in Eldorado, Okla. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Don Glenn of Amarillo and Jimmie Glenn of Miami; a brother, Harold Milner of Duke, Okla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 19, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ollie Florence Nichols HAPPY - Ollie Florence Nichols, 99, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, in Haltom. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ with Rick Bloodworth, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Nichols was born Feb. 18, 1906, in Anson. She was the third oldest of 10 children born to Charles and Florence Buske. She married Mark D. Nichols on Sept. 6, 1928, at Lubbock. Ollie worked hard her entire life, starting at an early age helping her parents to operate a boarding house in Abernathy. In Happy, she worked at the food locker and the school cafeteria. As an experienced master gardener, she was admired for her landscaped yard of roses, vegetables and flowers of every description. She found the time to volunteer numerous hours for early childhood Bible classes for Happy Church of Christ and senior citizens. She was always the first to bake cakes and knit pot holders for every charity found in Happy. Late in life, she began oil painting and discovered she had a hidden talent for colorful landscapes. Her specialties were windmills, fences and trees of the high, wind-swept plains. She won numerous awards and high praises from her purchasing clients. Ollie will be most fondly remembered by her family and friends for her devotion to Christian family values. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a daughter, Sharon Roberts. Survivors include two sons, Dean Nichols of Levelland and Lyndahl Nichols of Arlington; two granddaughters, June and Mona; two grandsons, Kirk and Randy; nine great-grandchildren; and her many friends.
