"Bob" Elmore Frank R. "Bob" Elmore, 84, of Amarillo died Friday, April 22, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Dan Bouchelle, minister, and John Wagoner, chaplain at Craig Methodist Retirement Center, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Elmore was born in Butte, Mont., on Dec. 29, 1920. He was a retired professor from Amarillo College, where he taught biology and microbiology for 20 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Elmore married Evelyn Perryman on June 24, 1944, in Santa Anna, Calif. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bob Elmore of Austin, Neal Elmore of Conroe and Mark Elmore of Amarillo; two sisters, Maxine Williams of Albuquerque, N.M., and Pat Dunlap of Greenville, Mo.; a brother, Charles Elmore of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren, Chris Elmore, Casey Schuhmacher, John Elmore, Melanie Parker, Jennifer Dowdy, Wesley Elmore, Aubrey Elmore, Isaac Elmore and Lian Elmore; and six great grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Ron Witt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Glidewell was born May 17, 1924, in Granite, Okla., to Benjamin and Anna Glidewell. He served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. He married May Clark on Aug. 2, 1947, in Wheeler. He was a master plumber and was employed by Pantex as a pipefitter for more than 44 years. He was a member of the VFW and a charter member of Coulter Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by both parents; a son, Gary Lynn Glidewell on April 11, 2005; a brother, Leonard Williams; and a brother-in-law, R.F. Dearing. Georgia St. Austin was born in Amarillo on Oct. 13, 1987. He attended Windsor Elementary, Arden Road Elementary, Westover Intermediate and Randall High School, where he was No. 32 on the varsity football team. He was player No. 8 on the Randall High School soccer team and lettered in 2005. He was also the recipient of the Fighting Heart Award in 2005. Austin was a Who's Who Scholar, a member of FCA and student council and was part of the People to People Student Ambassador Program. He shared his life daily with his many friends, all of whom he wanted to be his brothers and sisters in Christ. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his father, Bruce Carter and wife, Jodie, of Amarillo; his mother, Molly McMinn of Amarillo; a brother, Landon Lane Carter of Amarillo; his grandparents, Bill and Boyce Carter and Dwayne and Kay McMinn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Tom Stribling officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Taylor was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Hemphill County to Ross Gill and Melva "Nancy" Hanks Gill. She married Billy J. "Jerry" Taylor on Dec. 23, 1953. She retired from the Country Barn Steak House in 1988. She was the owner of LAT Farms. She was baptized in Bolton Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Ross Gill, and a grandson, Steven Lance Taylor. Interstate 40, with Sherman Eastland, chaplain, and Gary Burd, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Trogden graduated from earthly life on April 21. He was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Whiting, Ind., and moved to Amarillo as a child. He married the love of his life, Betty Louise Nemoede, on March 5, 1963. She preceded him in death. Ray worked as a cook at Northwest Texas Hospital and retired from there in 2001. To know Ray was to love him. He accepted everybody as a friend or family. Survivors include three sons, Ricky Dale Trogden of Levelland, Sammy Ray Trogden of Austin and Kelly Joe Trogden of Amarillo; two sisters, Pat Trogden and Phyllis Maxwell, both of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. She worked as an executive secretary for Diamond Shamrock and Maxus and retired from B & P. She was a member and past officer of Desk and Derrick and Business and Professional Women and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was active with the United Methodist Women. She served as a loaned executive for the United Way and volunteered at the Canyons Assisted Living Center Country Store. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Coffman of Waco; her mother, Marie I. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Jerry Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Sledge served in the CCC's and later enlisted in the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. After the war, he worked for Douglas Oil Co. until he retired. He then returned to the Texas Panhandle. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Sledge and Marshall Sledge. Survivors include three nephews, Jack Sledge of Anchorage, Alaska, Bill Sledge of Big Lake, Alaska, and Joe Sledge of Houston, and two nieces, Vera Plunk of Pampa and Jane Zollars of Stinnett. Mrs. Moore was selected by the Kansas City Southern Railroad to be Miss Southern Belle and had a movie contract with RKO Pictures in Hollywood, Calif. In light of her many accomplishments, she always considered her four children her greatest achievement. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 28, 1999; a daughter, Linda Kaye Hilt; a grandson; a sister, Mozelle Bowen; and her parents. Mrs. Ryan was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Ryan, Okla., the daughter of George and Etta Huskey. She married Preston "Ted" Ryan on Feb. 27, 1939, in Waurika, Okla. He preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Ryan worked in many restaurants as a cashier for several years and sold Avon products. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include a son, Barney Ryan and wife, Jacquelyn, of Friona; a daughter, Alice Harris and husband, Skeeter, of McLean; two sisters, Mary Nichels of Bethany, Okla., and Barbara Jo Stonebreaker of Waurika; 13 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 18 years and worked for Santa Fe Railway, Plains Division, for six years in varied operations and clerical positions. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rob Harrison, pastor of Wichita Falls, and Dr. Vernon Henderson of Abilene officiating. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Monday in Estelline Cemetery in Estelline. Mrs. Wood went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, April 21. She passed away peacefully in the Wesley Court Sears Methodist Nursing Center. Born Jan. 13, 1920, she was 85 years old. DeAlyss was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church and was a career schoolteacher, serving many years in the Estelline, Lakeview, Canyon and Abilene school systems. She married R.V. Martin "Pete" Wood on Dec. 7, 1941, in Estelline. She was preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt and Alice Eddins; her husband; and two sisters, Eloise Simpson and Mary Sue Holland. Survivors include four children, Sandra Mosley and husband, George, DeWitt Wood and wife, Hallie, Bob Wood and wife, Melanie, and Mike Wood and wife, Cindi; two sisters, Ann Bright and Betty Vogler; 10 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and "not of the blood" in-laws.
