Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on Tascosa Road with Brock Lovett, bishop, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Steinman was born Dec. 29, 1986, in Canyon. He grew up in Amarillo and was a senior at Tascosa High School. Along with school, he spent much of his time and energy at work at Amarillo Pool and Spa which was run by Mike Pounds, who proved to be a great role model and friend. Ryan loved spending time with his family and large circle of friends including the "love of his life," Lindsay Weatherly and his best friend and cousin, Matt Steinman. Together, he and Matt made a "dynamic duo" who had a knack for finding crazy situations. Ryan also enjoyed his many truck hauls in the summers with his idol also known as "Pops Man," which is his father, Bryan Steinman. Ryan was a high-spirited young man who lived life to the fullest, one adventure at a time. Hence his motto, "Let's Getter Done." Ryan had a passion for fast cars and high- intensity fun. He was very proud of his new Kawasaki 650 motorcycle. He always had a way to brighten everyone's day. Those who knew him well and those who didn't will sorely miss his good sense of humor and charm. He was preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Bobbie Muelhausen and Bertie Britt; and his aunt, Jolene Steinman. Survivors include his father, Bryan Steinman and wife, Seritha, of Amarillo; his mother, Christy Hanyen and husband, Jacob, of Amarillo; two sisters, Erin Steinman and Ariel Steinman, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Eric Muelhausen and Drustten Hanyen, both of Amarillo; a stepsister, Katie Hamilton of Amarillo; a niece, Kaidence Steinman of Amarillo; his grandparents, Don and Elaine Steinman of Emerson, Neb., and Gary Muelhausen of Amarillo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he adored. "Dot" Fletcher, 77, of Amarillo died Monday, May 16, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Coffman officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Fletcher was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Warren County, Ill., the daughter of Ernest and Gertrude (Johnson) Spence. She attended grade and high school in Illinois. She married Robert "Bob" Fletcher and they spent most of their married life in Amarillo. They were separated after 47 years by his death on Nov. 19, 1997. Dot and Bob shared a passion of collecting and enjoyed working together. She loved people and hopefully touched many lives in many different ways. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Bob Spence; and a sister, Betty Hall. Survivors include two brothers, Chet and Jack Spence, both of Little York, Ill; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended Texas family. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Spurlin was born July 11, 1934, in Clovis to Mary Jane (Thomas) and William Spurlin. He worked as a service manager for Ford Motor Co. for more than 20 years. He was the owner and operator of Audio and Video Repair for many years. He enjoyed working in his yard, traveling and watching Mark Martin race in NASCAR. He married Jackie Davis on July 11, 2002, in McLean. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Ray Spurlin of Amarillo; two daughters, Kathy D. Mrs. Dixon loved and enjoyed her family. Interstate 40, Suite B, Amarillo, TX 79106. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area "Claude" Everette Cartlidge DUMAS - "Claude" Everette Cartlidge, 89, died Monday, May 16, 2005, in Bedford. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Cartlidge was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Start, La., to Claude and Estelle Hardwick Cartlidge. He graduated valedictorian of his class in Start. He attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston briefly, but the great Depression kept him from completing college. He married Bess Nolan on Oct. 18, 1934, and their marriage endured for 68 years until Bess' death on July 19, 2003. He worked for Continental Carbon Co. from 1943 until his retirement in 1976. He was a production foreman for most of this time. He was a Christian man, always active in church. A member of First Baptist Church in Dumas, he sang in the choir and led the singing in his Sunday school department for many years. He was a Dumas resident from 1943 to 1953 and again from the early 1960s until moving to Bedford. He was an avid follower of all Dumas sports, but partial to the Demonette basketball and volleyball teams. One of his proudest moments was his attendance at the 1980 girls state basketball tournament, where the Demonettes brought home the championship trophy. We rejoice that you are in heaven. We will grieve for you in this world, but we'll celebrate with you in the world to come. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna; a nephew, Edward "Bud" Lyons; and a niece, Juanita Holden. Survivors include two sons, Don Cartlidge and wife, Sue, of Keller and Steve Cartlidge and wife, Linda, of Bedford; four grandchildren, Tim, Cherese, Keith and Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. Mr. Cooper was born Feb. 9, 1948, in Tucumcari, N.M., the son of Richard and Wanda Cooper. He married Peggy Owen on Jan. 3, 1976, in Lubbock. He was a veteran, having served in the Army with the Central Strike Command in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Cooper retired with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 28 years of service. He also served as a member of the administrative board of directors of First United Methodist Church as well as a member of Hereford Camp Fire Girls board of directors for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Cooper in 1992; and a brother, David Cooper in 1974. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Hergert was born Earlene Estelle Ballard in Quanah on Feb. 5, 1923. She married Vernon D. "Butch" Hergert in Wichita, Kan., on May 31, 1942. They made their home in Perryton until his death in 1995. She later lived in Orlando, Fla., before moving to Maryland in 2004. Survivors include two sons, Sam M. Hergert of Highland, Md., and Steve D. Hergert of Winter Garden, Fla.; two daughters, Susan L. Weaver of Urbandale, Iowa, and Sally L. Mrs. Knight was born March 21, 1928, the oldest of four children to Emil F and Irena (Kate) Carra, on the family farm near Niotaze, Kan. She was educated in Caney, Kan. Erma married Jacob Charles Knight in Niotaze on Jan. 3, 1947. Jean and Jay were employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in various locations, including Bartlesville, Okla., Oklahoma City, Pampa and Borger, where they lived for the past 44 years. She retired from the Philtex-Ryton facility in 1986. They enjoyed 19 years of retirement by traveling across the United States, Canada and Europe. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997 with a special trip to Australia and New Zealand. They spent many winters in Tucson, Ariz. Jean was an avid reader and gardener and was a fourth generation quilter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years on Feb. 27, 2005; and a grandson, Cody Mihm in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Jana Belew and husband, Mark, of Amarillo and Jeri Mihm and husband, Joe, of Borger; a grandson, Kevin Mihm of Stillwater, Okla.; three brothers, Mike Carra and wife, Ruth, of Fort Worth, Alex Carra and wife, Sherry, of Springfield, Mo., and Fred Carra of Caney; a sister-in- law, Mary D. He married Geraldine Darst on Oct. 2, 1954, in Canyon. He was retired from Swisher County Feedlot and was a longtime aviator. Mr. Hamblen served in the Army in Korea in the 279th Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of First Methodist Church in Happy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Eugene Hamblen.
