Brunton James L. Brunton, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Richardson of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Brunton was born in Texhoma, Okla., and graduated from Texhoma High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. He patented a hydraulic shoring device, better known as "The Speed Shore," that was instrumental in saving many lives. Mr. Brunton married Virginia Bryant in 1945. She passed away in 1984. He then married Barbara "Bobbie" Little in December 1984. She preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Brunton was currently developing a specialized supplement for the cattle feeding industry. He ran a bus ministry through Temple Baptist Church years ago. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Kingsman Sunday School class. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Bryant Schmidt of Naples, Fla.; two sons, Jim Brunton and wife, Karen, of Olympia, Wash., and Steve Brunton and wife, Carole, of Euless; two sisters, Doris Myer of Oklahoma City and Louise Berggren of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Clara Wilson of Amarillo; a brother, Buddy Brunton of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Jason, Forrest, Jennifer, Colin and Steven. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Katy Mitchell Katy Mitchell, 1, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Harold Waldow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Katy was born April 17, 2004, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Scott Mitchell. Survivors include her parents, Scott and Amy Mitchell of Amarillo; two brothers, Jacob Mitchell and Beau Mitchell, both of Amarillo; and her grandparents, Edwin and Elizabeth Mitchell of Bellaire and Milton and Barbara Brown of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alana A. Smart Alana A. Smart, 52, of Amarillo died Monday, May 16, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Medi-Park. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Smart was a longtime resident of Amarillo and had worked at Wal-Mart for the past seven and a half years. Survivors include a son, Ben Craft of Amarillo; a sister, Anita Hoggard of LaFayette, Ind.; and two grandchildren. No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Cleland was a member of United Methodist Church of Claude and Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Alan Cleland; two daughters, Karen Moller and Sandra Woodman; a brother, Maynard Cleland; and a sister, Olive Brem. The family suggests memorials be to the United Methodist Church in Claude. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rev. Daniel Hernandez DUMAS - The Rev. Daniel Hernandez, 90, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Iglesia Bautista Hispana with the Rev. Ernesto Rodriguez, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. The Rev. Hernandez was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Alpine. He was pastor of Iglesia Bautista Hispana from 1956 until his retirement in 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Delia Hernandez of San Antonio and Amelia Nunez of Dale City, Va.; four sons, Daniel Hernandez Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., Prajedez Hernandez of Lubbock, Charles Hernandez of Dumas and Armando Hernandez of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Joyita H. Sosa of Lubbock; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Julia "Judy" Belle Peabody BORGER - Julia "Judy" Belle Peabody, 76, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Rawlinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Peabody, a resident of Borger for 76 years, was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Borger. She married David McCann Peabody on April 18, 1947. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Ann Browning of Borger and Kay LaVonne Dobbs of Gladstone, Mo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will be at 105 Ozmer St. in Borger. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leonard Schwind BORGER - Leonard Schwind, 70, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Prayer vigil will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John's Catholic Church with Monsignor Norbert Kuehler officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mr. Schwind was born May 21, 1934, in Breckenridge. He was a retired project manager in the engineering department for J.M. Huber Corp. Survivors include a son, Robert Schwind of Sanger; three daughters, Mary Pearl of Waynesboro, Pa., Rebecca Parker of Wichita Falls and Cecilia Schwind of Panhandle; four sisters, Julie Vecera of Crowley, Catherine Meyer of Fort Worth, Patricia Rose of Austin and Marian Stillman of Atlanta; three brothers, Joseph Schwind of Amarillo, Edward Schwind of Burleson and Francis Schwind of Fort Worth; and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Santa Maria Convent, P.O. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church in San Marcos with Lin Penland officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt.
