Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Garrett officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Horrell was one of nine children born to Roy and Edna Horrell in Vega. He graduated from Vega High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic during World War II, before attending West Texas State University, where he earned a degree in accounting in 1951. He also attended one year of graduate school. Gherald married Minnie Jackson on July 3, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Memphis. Gherald began a 43-year career with Crowe-Gulde in June 1952 as an accountant. He was later moved to purchasing agent and safety advisor with Southwest Prestressed. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo for 53 years, where he served in many capacities. He was a deacon, Sunday school director and teacher, secretary for the international youth for 15 years, an active member of The Heritage Club and Heritage Singers and Senior Exercise Class. His men's group helped build several churches in Minnesota, Montana, and Brazil in South America. An important part of his life was his support and active involvement in mission activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Edna; three brothers, Clyde, Larry and Cecil; and a sister, Berniece. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve and wife, Tonja, of Hereford, and Tim and wife, Sharon, and Kent, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Vickie Saunders and husband, Tom, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Wilbur of Midland, Oscar of North Carolina and Roy Jr. of Arlington; a sister, Joyce Thurston of Vega; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home in Hereford. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. David Contreras of the church officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Hereford by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Garcia was active in Kids Incorporated, where he was a baseball and soccer coach. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, brother-in-law, son-in- law, uncle, friend and neighbor. He was an outstanding mentor with any and everyone he came across. He also loved being around children of all ages especially his family. Survivors include his wife, Emma; a son, Domingo Arturo Garcia of Amarillo; a daughter, Alexis Adrianna Garcia of Amarillo; his parents, Nicolas and Elisa Garcia of Hereford; three sisters, Maria Guadalupe Sarabia and Sabina Camarillo, both of Hereford, and Maria Reveles of Friona; four brothers, Moises Garcia of Dallas, Juan Garcia, Carlos Salud Garcia and David Garcia of Hereford; and his grandfather, Eutimio Ochoa of Mexico. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Doyle Smith Timothy Doyle Smith, 44, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 29, 2005. Services are pending in Yuma, Ariz. Local arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Smith had recently moved to Amarillo from Yuma and was employed with Backyard Adventures. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Yuma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ginny. Survivors include a daughter, Shaelyn Smith of Yuma; a son, Justin Smith of Yuma; and three brothers, Ronald Smith and Donald Smith, both of Las Lunas, N.M., and Tom Smith of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eileen B. Couture Eileen B. Couture, 81, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 28, 2005. Graveside services were at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Arrangements were by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Couture was born May 26, 1924, in Los Angeles. She worked as a regional credit manager. Survivors include her friends, John and Gail Harshberger of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to the Humane Society. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Charles Walker SHAMROCK - Charles Walker, 76, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Wheeler. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Christian Fellowship with Joe G. Jernigan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Walker was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Shamrock to John and Enna Wattenbarger Walker. Charles attended Shamrock High School and West Texas State College, where he graduated with a teaching degree. He taught English, history and math in Crosbyton. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Air Force for four years. He was a member of American Legion Post 68, having served three years as commander. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Hilda Bursey on Nov. 29, 1954, in Newfoundland, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harvey. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carl Walker and wife, Debbie, and John Walker and wife, Kelli, all of Shamrock; a daughter, Linda Bourland of Shamrock; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Osborn Campbell, 78, died Sunday, May 29, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Travis Baptist Church in Memphis with the Rev. Johnnie Snider officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mrs. Campbell was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Brice, to the late Duke Osborn and Nell Hagin Osborn. She grew up in Quail and graduated from Quail High School in 1944. She married Perry Clark Campbell on Dec. 23, 1949. Mrs. Campbell lived in Lakeview for more than 45 years, moving there from Brice in the 1950s. She worked for Lakeview Post Office for 34 years as a mail carrier and later as the postmistress. She was the secretary for Lakeview Cemetery Association and was a member of Lakeview City Council. Mrs. Campbell was a member of First Baptist Church in Lakeview. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 11, 2001; a stepson, Monte "Max" Campbell on May 19, 2005; a grandson, Clint Campbell in January 2005; and three brothers. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ed Wilson Jr. HEREFORD - Ed Wilson Jr., 88, died Monday, May 30, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Altus City Cemetery in Altus, Okla., with the Rev. Leah Eastham officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was born April 28, 1917, in Hollis, Okla., the son of Ed Sr. and Elma Wilson. He married Evelyn Barr on Jan. 22, 1939, in Elmer, Okla. Mr. Wilson was a veteran, having served in the Navy during World War II. He attended Oklahoma A&M and was marketing director for the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture before moving to Hereford. There he was associated with Jack Renfro, his former high school coach in Elmer, Okla., in the production and marketing of produce grown in the Hereford area. In 1965, Ed and his cousin, Jack Colville, formed Colville-Wilson Inc. a produce company that Mr. Wilson managed until he retired. Ed was a member of the Lions and Golden K Kiwanis clubs, served on the Hereford Hospital Board and was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Hereford. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Cone of Hereford; and two grandchildren, Kendra and Steven Cone of Oklahoma City. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope Angel Zubia CACTUS - Hope Angel Zubia, infant daughter of Sarah and Victor Zubia, died Sunday, May 29, 2005. Mrs. Rock was born May 10, 1922, in Alfalfa County. She married Logan Dean Rock on April 27, 1941, in Beaver. Mrs. Arterburn was born June 21, 1916, in Memphis, Texas, the daughter of John Burl and Ada Vestine McClanahan Evans. She was a nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, and Hall County Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was married to the late Morris Arterburn. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Cowan of Front Royal; two sisters, Lucille Bloxom of Amarillo and Mae Maddox of Memphis; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great- grandchildren. Sooter Folley, 98, died Monday, May 30, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Jim Brown, Bob Miller and Dr. Lonny Poe officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton by White Funeral Home. Mrs. Folley was born Nov. 25, 1906, in Lindale. Although currently living in Amarillo, she was a longtime resident of Lubbock since 1924. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Eunice was a dear friend to many and a cherished member of the Mary-Martha Sunday school class at Monterey Baptist Church. Her devoted faith and gentle, loving spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was an accomplished seamstress who found great joy in sewing for those around her up until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; five sisters; two husbands, Claude Sooter and Jon Folley; a grandson, Monty Sooter; and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Sooter.
