Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the family's home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Avila was born Feb. 9, 1983, in Juarez, Mexico, to Ramon Preciado and Maria Del Refujo Avila. He attended school in Los Angeles. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Edgar moved to Amarillo in December 2003. He was employed at Krispy Kreme Donuts. He enjoyed music and loved to play basketball. He was very friendly and generous and was always willing to offer a helping hand. It was Edgar's dream to attend college. Survivors include a special friend, Margarita Marques of Amarillo; a daughter, Priscilla Avila of Los Angeles; his mother of Los Angeles; his father of Mexico; four sisters, Fatima Faride Preciado Valdez, Consuelo Amaranta Preciado Valdez and Viviana Sarahi Preciado Valdez, all of Mexico, and Claudia Avila of Los Angeles; six brothers, Eber Ramon Preciado Valdez and Ricardo Hernandez Avila, both of Mexico, and Christian Roberto Maldonado, Danny Avila and Jesus Antonio Gonzalez, all of Amarillo; and an uncle, Roberto Gonzales of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adele Jackson Moore Adele Jackson Moore, 80, of Amarillo died Friday, May 27, 2005, in Austin. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Leslie Tomlinson, Adele's granddaughter, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Tulia to Richard W. Jackson and Cordelia Clounch Jackson. From 1990 until March 2004, she operated Adele's Miniatures at the South Ross flea market in Amarillo. During World War II, she worked at the Amarillo Air Force Base as an X-ray technician. She operated Dean's Place restaurant on the Stinnett highway in Borger from 1956 to 1960 and was the account manager at Hub Clothiers in Borger for several years in the 1960s. She was also a longtime member of Women of the Moose in Borger and Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her mother; father; sister, Anita Burden; and her husband, Lt. John F. Moore, USAF Ret. Survivors include a daughter, Cordelia "Cordy" Munoz and husband, Johnny, of Arlington; a son, Richard H. Smith and wife, Sherry True Smith, of Austin; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; andeight stepgreat-grandchildren. Harris, 84, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Garrett, minister of senior adults, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Harris was born in Buena Vista, Va., on March 15, 1921. She married Hunter Harris on July 10, 1943, in Lexington, Va. Mrs. Harris had been a resident of Amarillo since 1951, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth Harris and wife, June, of Houston; two grandchildren, Zachary Harris and Elizabeth Harris, both of Houston; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Ryals of Fort Deposit, Ala. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lois Phelps Lois Phelps, 69, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Phelps was born in Danville, Ky., and moved to Amarillo in 1965. She married Frankie Phelps in Amarillo in 1998. She worked in the grocery business for many years. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Joe Garnet of Amarillo, David Garnet of Reno, Nev., and Danny Garnet of San Diego; two daughters, Michelle Hall of Amarillo and Melody Campbell of Riverside, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Glenna Faye Cornett DIMMITT - Glenna Faye Cornett, 63, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Silverton Church of Christ in Silverton with Brett Page officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home. Mrs. Cornett was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Ajo, Ariz. She received her master's degree from West Texas State University in 1980. She taught at Silverton Independent School District and Lubbock Independent School District for many years until her health declined. She was a member of Dimmitt Church of Christ and TSTA. Survivors include two sons, Tad Cornett and Mike Cornett, both of Dimmitt; two daughters, Kim McPherson of Wellington and Shellie Powell of Lubbock; a sister, Helen Strange of Corsicana; and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Riley was born April 9, 1924, in the Kimball Community, Hansford County. She married Skeeze Riley in 1969. She was a homemaker. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Claude Cemetery in Claude with the Rev. Bill Fuller of First Baptist Church of Panhandle officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Walker passed away Tuesday at the hospice unit of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 17, 1925. His parents were Charles and Lyda Hathorn Walker. He was a graduate of Panhandle High School class of 1942. Cal was a member of First Baptist Church in Panhandle, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Carson County Farm Bureau. Cal and his brother, Phil, were active farmers and cattlemen in Carson and Armstrong counties for many years. His paternal grandparents were Carson County pioneers, Milton Green and Melinda Lou (Tishey) Campbell Walker, who homesteaded land in Carson County. His maternal grandparents were Mack and Emma Phillips Hathorn, who were married on the JA Ranch, and who relocated to Claude and built the first home in Claude. The family extends special thanks to cousins, Nita Walker Duncan and Jim and Leta Walker for their thoughtfulness and care giving at this difficult time, to the emergency room doctor and his staff at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital, to the staff at the hospice unit and to the staff at Amarillo Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his older brother, Charles Phillips "Phil" Walker, who died Aug. 21, 2001, of cancer in the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo. Survivors include a sister, Mary Sue Walker Olson of Richland, Wash.; a niece, Janet Olson White of Kennewick, Wash.; a great-niece, Brittany Paetel of Kennewick; and several cousins in the Amarillo and Hereford areas.
