Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Austin was an exceptional father who had a close connection to his children. He married Bernice on Sept. 29, 2000. He was a kind, gentle man who loved people. He retired in 1980 after operating his own business for 14 years. In his retirement, he liked to travel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, and two grandsons. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruth Hayes of McMinnville, Ore., and Evelyn Hunt of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Fred Austin Jr. of Amarillo; three stepchildren, Mike Willington of Oklahoma City, Connie Wise of Anchorage, Alaska, and Linda Crowell of Washington; 12 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She grew up in Nashville, Tenn., and lived in Amarillo from 1958 to 1960 and then from 1991 to 2004. She married Amil D. Mask on June 10, 1958. He preceded her in death. She volunteered throughout her life, but most recently for HOSTS (mentoring in Amarillo public schools). She also volunteered at the Harrington Cancer Center and had served as an officer for the Amarillo Genealogical Society. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Ms. Graham was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Amarillo to Marjorie and John Raef. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and was employed at Pantex for many years before taking medical retirement. Dorothy loved to garden, study scripture, read and play with her dogs. The delights of her life were her grandchildren, Kyler and Krystin, who enjoyed the attention of their loving "MiMi." Dorothy was a devoted mother and sister, a friend to many and generous and giving to all she was around. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Cameron Welch. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sophia Cemetery in Beaver County, Okla., with the Rev. Jack Cornell of Midway Community Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Clarke was the fifth of 10 children born to Alva and Nettie Walters Clarke. He was born March 24, 1910, in a sod house on the Clarke homestead in Beaver County. He graduated from Booker High School in 1929, where he was captain of the first BHS basketball team and was high point man at the 1929 Lipscomb County track meet. He married Olive Bridges of Beaver on Dec. 25, 1930. She preceded him in death after 67 years of marriage. He was employed by Groendyke Transport Co. in 1936. He came to Amarillo in 1944 to establish a Groendyke terminal and remained with Groendyke operations until 1952. He was then employed by Hearne and later by Navajo Freight Lines. He was the chaplain for the local Teamsters Union and retired in 1972. After retirement, he satisfied a 50-year dream by attending Bible College and became an ordained minister in 1982. Survivors include two sons, Marvin G. Clarke and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo and A. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Low, 82, passed from this earth to her Heavenly home on June 1. Dovie Christine Coleman Low was born to Granville Huel and Opal Ezell Coleman on June 23, 1922, in Comanche. She married Aubrey Lee Low on Sept. 22, 1941, in Dallas. They had four children, Granville Lynn Low, Sharon Low Field, Sandra Kay Field and Cynthia Sue Low Serniak. Mrs. Low resided in Amarillo for 25 years before moving to Corpus Christi in 1996, where she was a resident of Trisun Care Center for the past five years. She was known as "Grunny" or "Granny" to seven grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dovie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. All those who knew and loved her will sadly miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 30, 1995, and her youngest daughter, Cynthia Sue Low Serniak on April 22, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Low Field of Corpus Christi and Sandra Kay Field and husband, Larry, of Crosby; a son, Granville Lynn Low and wife, Penny, of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a charter member of Southlawn Baptist Church and taught the Friendship Sunday School class for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. "Red" Mills. Mrs. Stephens was born April 8, 1926, in Durant, Okla., to parents Charles and Alice Daniels. She graduated from Blue High School in Blue, Okla., where she excelled in basketball. She continued to live a full and loving life, raising children and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 1 in Hurst. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Stephens; a sister, Nell Vandervender; two brothers, Ollie and Jimmy Daniels; a granddaughter, Tina Stephens; and two great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Second Baptist Church since Feb. 17, 1974. She worked for Dr. Don Houghton for 18 years and American Optical for 22 years. Grace was also a greeter for Wal-Mart for two years. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Hunnicutt was born May 15, 1919, in Mount Pleasant to Carl and Willie Reid. She married Cecil Hunnicutt on June 5, 1946, in Tucumcari, N.M. He passed away in September 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Paulette Oliver and husband, Don, and Jamie Junod and husband, Andy, of Plainview; three grandchildren, JaTonna Deputy of Amarillo and Alane Junod and Austin Junod, both of Lubbock; and a great- grandson, Andrew Junod. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Jackson was born in Texas County, Mo. She moved to Albuquerque in 2003 after the death of her son, James, to be near her daughter and family after several years in Amarillo. She married Harold Leon Jackson in 1937 in Newkirk, Okla. She and Harold were longtime residents of Phillips and Borger, where she worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 18 years. Harold preceded Ada in death in 1995 while living in Kingsland. Ada enjoyed traveling to Europe and the good ole USA and going on many fishing trips. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Williams of Albuquerque; a sister, Beulah Lindesmith of Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Wayne Maddox, 88, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Miami with the Rev. Lance Wood, pastor, and Dr. Larry Heard, director of missions with the Top O' Texas Baptist Association, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Maddox was born Sept. 30, 1916, to Lawrence Allen Maddox and Hazel King Maddox on a ranch west of Miami. He graduated from Miami High School in 1936 and from Texas A&M University in 1941. Wayne loved and supported A&M the rest of his life, seeing 21 family members attend the school. After graduation from A&M, he became the assistant county agent for Gray County and later the county agriculture agent for Moore County. It was while he was working in Moore County that he met and married Benonia Jeff Oxford on June 8, 1943, in Dumas. They were married for 62 years. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Miami and established a home on a ranch west of town, which later became known as the Maddox Hereford Ranch. Wayne raised and showed registered Hereford cattle throughout the United States. He was president of the Texas Hereford Breeders Association and for many years was active in the cattle division of the Amarillo Tri-State Fair and the Amarillo Livestock Show. Wayne's early religious training began with his parents and brothers in a small country church called Salem. In 1937, he and his family joined First Baptist Church in Miami, where he was active in Sunday school and worship service and where he served as a deacon for many years. Wayne was a godly man and a wonderful husband and father who will be sorely missed. He was actively involved in Texas Baptist Men, leading many lay renewal meetings and serving as a director for many years. He was also active in Gideons International, speaking in many churches and distributing Bibles in schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Wayne was affiliated with the Panhandle-Plains Federal Land Bank for many years, beginning in the mid-1950s. He served as a director of the official board for 30 years. He and Mrs. Maddox moved to Amarillo in 2003 to make their home in The Continental Retirement Center at 1300 S. Jackson St. At this stage in life, he did not expect to make many new friends, but was happy and blessed to gain an entire new family of friends in the residents and staff at the Continental. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bruce, L.A. and Raymond; and a son-in-law, James Quast. Survivors include his wife; a son, Russell Maddox and wife, Dana, of North Richland Hills; three daughters, Kay Quast of Comanche, Cheryl Evans and husband, Steve, of Lakewood, Colo., and Laurel Fort and husband, David, of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, West Africa; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Maddox of Pampa and Deene Maddox of Amarillo; three nieces; and five nephews. She had lived in Amarillo for 25 years and worked at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital for 18 years. She moved to Tulia in 1995 and was a member of Mid-Tule Band. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Joseph Rossi Funeral Home. Mr. Profanchik was born Dec. 31, 1944, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Joseph and Lottie Jean Eason Profanchik. Joseph was employed as a painter at Freuhauf Trucking for 10 years before retiring in 1996. He enjoyed watching television and spending time with his grandchildren. He married Jean McCracken on July 3, 1971. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Profanchik; a daughter, Debra Profanchik; and a brother, William Profanchik. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joseph Profanchik Jr. and wife, Lori, and Joshua Profanchik, all of Niles; three daughters, Jennifer Profanchik of Niles and Donna Jo Upton and husband, Warren, and Rita Johnson, all of Amarillo; a brother, John D. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Valley Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Beck Funeral Home. Mr. Vachon passed away peacefully on June 3, with his wife at his side, after a valiant 10-month battle with colon cancer. Mike now joins his father, Don J. Vachon, and sister, Terri Lynn Vachon, in the arms of the Lord. Mike was born Jan. 17, 1947, in Austin and although he had an opportunity to live in several locations across the U.S. and abroad, spent most of his childhood years in the Texas Panhandle. A multiple sport athlete, Mike spent countless hours on the ball fields or golf course. After graduation from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Mike felt honored to play football for his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. His four field goals kicked against the University of Texas in the 1966 TX-OU Red River Shootout game still stand in the OU record book. Mike's fondest times were spent with family, friends and teammates. Mike's professional career in sales and customer service management spanned the apparel, sporting goods and automotive industries. Over the years, Mike relocated from coast to coast as he advanced within his management roles. He was fortunate to develop lifelong friendships with colleagues and customers alike along the way. He faced his illness with dignity, courage and a remarkable strength of spirit. He will be missed by many. The family sends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Costanzi, Kathy, Mickey and the entire staff at Lone Star Oncology, VistaCare Hospice and the many other professionals who provided compassionate care during Mike's illness.
