Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Meadors was born June 30, 1938, in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He also attended North Texas University, where he went to school on a voice scholarship. Mr. Meadors married Celia Anderson on Sept. 26, 1964, in Wellington. He worked in the automobile industry for several years. He was co-owner of Celia Meadors Design and a member of Celebration Singers at St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Mr. Meadors was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and past president of Wesley Workers Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Bennet Meadors Sr. and mother, Nellie Gill Meadors. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, RayAnn Meadors of Amarillo; two sons, Andrew Bennett Meadors of Austin and John Kevin Meadors of New York City; a sister, Gina Witten of Arroyo City; a brother, John Charles Meadors of Fredericksburg; two cousins, Dr. Dan Meadors and Helen Smith, both of Amarillo; and an aunt, Martha Meadors of Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Gruver United Methodist Church in Gruver with the Rev. George Price officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon, Okla. Mrs. Etter was a homemaker and a member of Gruver United Methodist Church. She had been a resident of Gruver since 1956, moving to Amarillo in October 2003. Survivors include her husband, Ray; a son, Allen Etter of Pilot Point; a daughter, Connie Wilson of Iraan; seven grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Shields of Guymon; and two sisters, Dorothy Fleming and Jean Frittz, both of Guymon. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- E.W. "Wes" Hunter E.W. "Wes" Hunter, 62, of Amarillo died Monday, June 6, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Hunter volunteered for 3,004 hours at the V.A. Hospital. He retired after 31 years from Western Electric and Lucent Technologies as an installer. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1961 and served in the Navy for six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Juanita Hunter; and a son, Brian Chamberlin. Survivors include his wife, Eunice; three sons, Milo Chamberlin, Gregory Chamberlin and wife, Eleanor, and Donnie Hunter and wife, Natalie; three daughters, Virginia Schuber and husband, Kenneth, Patricia Beaner and Denice Hamilton and husband, Scott; a brother, Jimmie Hunter and wife, Rose; a sister, Edith Ferrell and husband, Ed; 11 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the V.A. Hospital of Amarillo or Harrington Cancer Center. Wilson, 84, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 2, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Dan Shaeffer officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Wilson was born June 20, 1920, in Cameron to Toliver Keat Wilson and Mary Francis Cargill Wilson. He was a veteran of World War II, having taken part in the Normandy Invasion. He received the Bronze Star as well as the Purple Heart. He was a retired accountant for Pantex. He was also a lifelong resident of West Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a stepson, Charles E. Byers of Redwood City, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Francis K. Phares of Dallas; a sister, Gloria Jean Ready of Waco; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ja'Nysti Jazzmeia Young Ja'Nysti Jazzmeia Young, infant daughter of Dora Adams and Terance Young of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 5, 2005. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Ja'Nysti was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Willie James Adams, Naomi and Willis Burks and Lee Adams. Survivors include her parents; her grandparents, Gerald and Katrina Adams and Homer and Brenda Young, all of Amarillo; her great-grandparents, Doug and Shirley Murkeldove and Doris Adams, all of Amarillo, and J.B. and Dora Benard of Tulia; an uncle, Dwayne Adams of Amarillo; two aunts, Destiny Debose and Todje Gonzales of Amarillo; and many loving relatives and friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Lorean Cobb Hood CLAUDE - Lorean Cobb Hood, 91, died Sunday, June 5, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Claude Church of Christ with Kent Watson officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hood was born in Claude to George and Norma Rose Cobb and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Claude High School. She married Joe Hood in Claude on Feb. 24, 1935. In addition to being an excellent homemaker, both she and her husband were rural mail carriers. Mrs. Hood also was the librarian at Claude Public Library. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; and a son, Don Hood in 1938. Survivors include two daughters, Jorean Smith and husband, J.B., of Claude and Janie Marlan and husband, Mike, of Windsor, Colo.; a son, John N. Hood and wife, Marlinda, of Abilene; a sister, Oleta Williams of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. West was born May 29, 1959. She was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. Shanks MULESHOE - J.C. Shanks, 88, died Sunday, June 5, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Stacy Conner of the church officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Shanks was a member of First Baptist Church in Muleshoe. He worked for the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation for more than 21 years. Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Marella Cemetery in the Griggs community with the Rev. Charles Mendenhall, pastor of Victory Center, officiating. Arrangements were by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Burrow was a homemaker and a member of Guymon Foursquare Gospel Church. She was an ordained Evangelistic minister. Survivors include two sons, Elwin Burrow of Texhoma and Norman Burrow of Liberal, Kan.; a daughter, LaVonna Carnes of Perryton, Texas; two granddaughters; and a brother, Jimmy L. Gilmore of Missouri. She married Newman Rollo "Ish" Ishmael on March 7, 1942, in Buffalo. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Louise Wood of Weatherford; five brothers, Donald Morris of Enumclaw, Wash., Jerald Morris of Hobart, Bob Morris of Woodward, Wes Morris of Clyde, Texas, and Ray Morris of Hooks, Texas; two sisters, Wanda Davis of Hooker and Martha Dunsworth of Perryton, Texas; and a grandson. Baker CAMDENTON, MO. - Thomas J. Baker, 79, died Monday, May 30, 2005. Private graveside services will be today in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon, Texas. Mr. Baker was born May 6, 1926, in Marquad, Mo., to Tony and Gladys Masters Baker. He was a transportation driver for the motion picture industry. Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Saylor and Karen Anderson; a son, Steve Van Sant; and a brother, Cleo Baker. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Selman Carlisle Cooke HOBBS, N.M. - Selman Carlisle Cooke, 81, died Friday, June 3, 2005, in Big Spring, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Gaines County Cemetery in Seminole, Texas, with the Rev. Marvin Gregory of First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. Mr. Cooke was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Howard County, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II with the 44th Recon. group and was awarded the Bronze Star and Silver Star.
