Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Grigsby officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the City of Lubbock Cemetery in Lubbock with the Rev. Bobby McMillan officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Black was born April 28, 1913, in Kaiser, Wis. She lived in nearby Park Falls until she began her nursing career in Chicago. After graduating from nursing school, she did post-graduate work at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She married Dr. Crawford Black in 1936, and they lived in Texas and Illinois over the 35 years of her husband's medical practice. Dr. Black died in 1971. She had been an Amarillo resident since 1960. Mrs. Black was a docent at the Amarillo Art Museum for nearly 35 years. She was also a member of Amarillo Herb Society, Amarillo Democratic Club and a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Sagafi-nejad of Laredo and Susan Savage of Sacramento; and four grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patricia Dell Harris Johnson St. Germain Patricia Dell Harris Johnson St. Germain, 65, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 5, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Lu Laster, pastor, officiating. Mrs. St. Germain was born June 21, 1939, in Poteau, Okla., to Otis and Edith Harris. The family spent the first four years of her life in Oklahoma then moved to Richland, Wash. In 1957, she graduated from Richland High School. She worked for Boeing in Seattle and moved back to Richland, where she worked for several years at Old National Bank. In 1980, she moved to Amarillo where she met Kenneth St. Germain. They were married Sept. 2, 1983. Mrs. St. Germain regularly attended Joy Fellowship Church, where she always found peace. Pat will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Michael Harris; two daughters, Sandy Woollums of Richland and Kendall St. Germain of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, Derek Johnson of Richland and Kenneth St. Germain Jr. and wife, Susie, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Joy Fellowship Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Christopher Branner John Christopher Branner, 91, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 8, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Branner was born in Boise City, Okla., in 1914 to J.C. and Mary Branner. The family moved to Amarillo and he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1932. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific in New Guinea as a Tech Sgt. in the Air Force. Mr. Branner married Callie Allen in 1946 in Clovis, N.M. He worked for International Paper Co. and retired in 1980. He liked all sports and liked horse racing very much. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Madeline Malacara of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Claud E. Gay Claud E. Gay, 71, of Amarillo died Monday, June 6, 2005. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church, Robison Chapel of the Plains, with the Rev. Marvin James and Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Gay grew up in Delta, Colo., and attended college at The Colorado School of Mines. He joined the Air Force and while stationed in Tucson, he met and married Carmelita Crowninshield. They eventually ended up in Amarillo, where he graduated from WTAMU, and worked for the Department of Energy until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed boating, fishing and computing. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Davis and husband, David, of Amarillo; a son, Stephen Gay and wife, Susanne, of Highland Village; three grandchildren, Craig Riley and wife, Kristin, of Austin, and Andrea Davis and Jennifer Davis, both of Amarillo; a brother, Larry Gay of California; and three sisters, Nellie Wolf of Arizona, Linda Fowler of Utah and Janet Hinchman of Colorado. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Curtis Roper, elder of First Seventh-day Adventist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Mrs. French loved to travel. While she was able she was active with her church, the First Seventh-day Adventist of Amarillo. Her great-grandchildren and grandchildren called her "None.'" She loved her family and friends and would do all she could for them. She will always be loved and missed. Survivors include a daughter, Jackqualene Smith of Amarillo; a son, Robert French and wife, Diane, of Odessa; a sister, Evelyn Berry of Roswell, N.M.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Louise Goodman Fletcher PAMPA - Louise Goodman Fletcher, 73, died Monday, June 6, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ with Glen Walton, minister of Bell Avenue Church of Christ of Amarillo, and Rodney Tedford, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fletcher had a 40-year newspaper career, 17 of which were as publisher of the Pampa Daily News. She was the first female publisher of a newspaper in the state of Texas. Survivors include her husband, Ernest; a son, Mark Fletcher of Amarillo; two grandsons; her mother, Viola Louise Goodman of Altus, Okla.; and three brothers, Tommy Goodman of Mangum, Okla., Edwin Goodman of Vernon and Jerry Goodman of Tulsa, Okla. Ward PAMPA - John D. Ward, 83, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Rodney Tedford, minister of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Ward worked for Cities Service and Occidental Oil for 42 years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the South Pacific and Japan. The family suggests memorials be to Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ, 1342 Mary Ellen, Pampa, TX 79065. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Henry Allen STRATFORD - George Henry Allen, 85, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Stratford Cemetery with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church of Dumas, officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Allen was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Stratford. He was a resident of Dallam and Sherman counties since 1945. He attended schools in Kerrick, Stratford and at Texas Tech University. He was captain of the basketball team his senior year in 1942-43 at Tech as a walk-on player. He was extremely proud to play for Berl Huffman and Polk Robinson as his first captain. His favorite activity was to participate with basketball teams of the three schools he attended. He was chosen all-border conference guard in 1943. Another favorite activity was his pilot training class. He served in the Air Force training program and was detached to train with the British RAF. He was discharged in 1944 due to a spinal disorder. He married Claudine McQueen on Sept. 8, 1945, in Dalhart. They operated Stratford Frozen Foods for 15 years and later engaged in livestock farming in Dallam and Cimarron counties. He served as American Legion Commander in 1946, on the Stratford School Board and on the Farmers Home Administration Loan Board. Survivors include his wife; three sons, George Lynn Allen and wife, Kathy, Jerry Don Allen and Theodore Mark Allen and wife, Sheryl, all of Stratford; a sister, Winnie A. Simons of Boulder, Colo; five grandchildren, Renne, Jami, Kayce, Roy and Wesley; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Stratford EMT Association, P.O. The family will be at 4800 Allen Lane in Stratford. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sanford Glen Ketchum PAMPA - Sanford Glen Ketchum, 72, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Lannie Ketchum, a Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Ketchum was a truck driver and a carpenter. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1163 and VFW Post No. 1651. Survivors include his wife, Julia; three sons, Randy Ketchum of Brookeland, Danny Ketchum of Amarillo and Don Ford of Pampa; four daughters, Mary Lynn MacMasters of Pottsboro, Evelyn Kingston of Sherman, and Julie Lewis and Becky Lentz, both of Pampa; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Ketchum of Equality, Ala. Mr. Harris was born Dec. 30, 1952, in Trenton, Mo. He married LaNeta Byler on April 22, 1984, in Beeville. Survivors include his wife; a son, Lonny J. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe in Clovis. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with the Rev. Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Lopez was born June 26, 1964, in Clovis. He was a lifetime resident of Clovis and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother, Leo Lopez of Clovis; and four sisters, Mia Lopez of Clovis, Donna Lopez of Tucumcari, and Angie Orosco and Kathy Lopez, both of Santa Rosa. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jo Zela Keen-Crawford LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Jo Zela Keen-Crawford, 96, formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, died Monday, June 6, 2005. Graveside services will be at a later date in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. A celebration of her life will be in Ridglea Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth. Local arrangements are by Baca's Funeral Chapels. Mrs. Crawford was born in Grapeland, Texas, on Feb. 3, 1909, to Byron and Almeda Hodges Keen. Jo Zela graduated from Buffalo Gap High School and married Vernon Crawford in 1929. They moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 1943, and lived there for 13 years. They relocated to Fort Worth in 1956, where she lived until moving to Las Cruces to be with her daughter in 2001. Jo became president of every organization she ever joined including Amarillo Girl Scout Council, Eastern Star, Women's Travel Study Club, PTA, and both the Amarillo Country Club Women's Golf Association and Fort Worth Ladies' Golf Association. She was devoted to her Ridglea Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, and was cited for her volunteer efforts at West Aid for the Homeless. She was an avid sports fan, especially pro golf and pro football. Jo was a rabid Democrat. In her words, "My papa always said that when the Republicans are in office, we all starve to death." An amazing and energetic woman, Jo was also a painter and a textile wizard. She taught ceramics at the Lake Worth Senior Center for several years. Her family will miss her terribly. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Abshire; a sister, Zumack Young of Roswell; two grandsons, Gary and Krys Abshire; and numerous nieces and nephews. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
