Cremation and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Escalante was born June 4, 1925, in Dilley to Emilio and Tomasa Escalante. He had worked as a field worker in the oil fields. Survivors include his wife, Carmen; three daughters, Mary Ann Ramon and Frances Elisondo, both of Earth, and Carmelita Escalante of Amarillo; a son, Thomas Escalante of Earth; a sister, Trinidad Salinas of Earth; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 301 N. Van Buren St. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robin Spurlin Robin Spurlin, 46, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 7, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Gene Goodwin of First Baptist Church of Valle De Oro officiating. Mr. Spurlin was born July 25, 1958, in Oakland, Calif. Robin served in the Army. He married Sherri Irish in Tracy, Calif., on Feb. 16, 1985. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather who will be deeply missed. Robin was employed by Amarillo Gear. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Spurlin. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kristina Martinez and husband, Travis, of Amarillo; a son, Robin Spurlin Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Canyon; two sisters, Alene Cunningham of Plano and Donna Montono of Pleasanton, Calif.; three brothers, Ron Spurlin of Minot, N.D., Allen Spurlin of Damascus, Md., and Randy Spurlin of Plano; his mother, Janice Armas and husband, Frank, of Sacramento, Calif.; his grandfather, M. Joseph "Jo" Spurlin of Hemet, Calif.; and a grandchild, Kaelyn Martinez. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frances Pauline Vaught Frances Pauline Vaught, 89, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 8, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Hal Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega. Mrs. Vaught was born to Elijah Allen Kyle and Lela Mae Kyle on Dec. 22, 1915, in Moscow, Ky. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Dodson and a great-granddaughter, Deidra Smith. Survivors include a son, Ben Dodson and wife, Linda, of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Walker of Amarillo and Norma Morrison of Midland; seven grandchildren, Gwen Smith of Lubbock, Kyle Dodson, Zachary Dodson and Chancie San Maguel, all of Amarillo, Randy Dodson of Dallas, Vickey Swaan of Louisville, Ky., and Mary Jesco of Flower Mound; and seven great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Thomas J. Floyd Jr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Thomas J. Floyd Jr., 71, died Thursday, June 9, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Kingswood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Red Mountain Cemetery in Johnson Mesa. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Floyd was born May 26, 1934, to Thomas J. and Josephine Stewart Floyd in Del Rio, Texas. He married Nancy Woodhouse, on May 29, 1955. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Denise Morris of Clovis; two sons, Dwayne Floyd and Darrin Floyd, both of Clovis; his father, Thomas J. Floyd of Pecos; a sister, Barbara "Jody" Miller of Pecos; a brother, Wayne Floyd of Springer; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Florence Marie Humphries ODESSA - Florence Marie Humphries, 73, died Thursday, June 9, 2005. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Eastview Memorial Gardens in Vernon. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mrs. Humphries was born in Electra to Joe and Zellie Clarkson. She married Thomas Humphries in Vernon. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tommy Humphries of Odessa; two daughters, Cheryl Rasco of Andrews and Jo Nette Severse of Odessa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Mildred Geraldine Harris QUANAH - Mildred Geraldine Harris, 86, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Dea, minister of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene. Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Hunter, the daughter of Frank and Mildred Kuntze Wiegreffe. She married Homer Harris. Survivors include four nephews, James Wiegreffe of Katy, Roger Wiegreffe of Livingston, Frank Wiegreffe of Bridge City and Charles Wiegreffe of Gatesville. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- LaTrice S. Nelson CHILDRESS - LaTrice S. Nelson, 84, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Denton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Nelson was born June 17, 1920, in Newlin. She married E.A. Nelson on Dec. 31, 1942, in Newlin. Survivors include a son, Guy Nelson and two grandsons. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helen George BRISCOE - Helen George, 69, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Wheeler. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church in Wheeler with Gene Gee, Church of Christ minister of Lefors, and Dr. Shawn Johnson, pastor of Wheeler Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery in Briscoe by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. George was born Jan. 30, 1936, to Lee and Ida Bell Halpain in Perryton. She married Eddie George on June 17, 1956, at Perryton. Mr. and Mrs. George moved to Briscoe in 1956. She was a devoted wife, partner and friend to her husband for what would have been 49 years on June 17. She was a loving mother and grandmother. If fact, if you got within five feet of her, you knew all about her kids and grandkids. She suffered a massive stroke in May 1990. The stroke broke her body, but not her spirit; it robbed her of her beautiful smile, but not her sense of humor. She moved to the Wheeler Care Center in January 2004. Mrs. George worked for First National and First State banks in Canadian for a total of 12 years. She was preceded in death by her mother; her father; and her beloved grandson, Michael. Survivors include her husband; a son, Lee George and wife, Tammy, of Pampa; two daughters, Amy McPherson and husband, Dennis, of Sunray and Holly Williams of Austin; and two grandchildren, Hilary McPherson of Amarillo and Matthew McPherson of Sunray.
