We honor and celebrate the life of Elsie Unita Baker Townsend, our much-loved wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Elsie found her final rest while in the presence of her husband of 53 years, Clyde, daughter, Susan, and son, Richard, on Sunday, June 12, after having been diagnosed with brain cancer in February. Elsie was born in La Junta on Feb. 22, 1935, the third child of William Edgar Baker and Agnes Unity Ketchum Baker. She discovered and developed her lifelong love of music at an early age, exploring and learning to play the piano in Friends Church in La Junta.
