Fuentes Glenn P. Fuentes, 48, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 11, 2005. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Duane Bilderback, pastor of Church of the Restoration, officiating. Mr. Fuentes was born in Galveston on Jan. 19, 1957, to Robert and Dolores Fuentes. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1976 and married Dorothy Wilson on Dec. 31, 1983, in Amarillo. Mr. Fuentes enjoyed listening to music and working on the computer, but most importantly he cherished spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Bobby Fuentes Jr.; and his grandparents, Roy and Cruz Friddell, Guy and Agnes Fuentes and Faye Dudley. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tara Tisdale of Amarillo; a son, Landon Tisdale and wife, Candace, of Amarillo; a sister, Kelly Denny of Amarillo; a brother, Anthony Fuentes and wife, Judy, of Plainview; his mother, Dolores Robertson of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Jered and Ashlynn Tisdale. Austin St. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Marvin Jackson "Jack" Sparks Sr. GRUVER - Marvin Jackson "Jack" Sparks Sr., 75, died Monday, June 13, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ with Doug Messer and Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Sparks was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Bronte. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He married Carol Joyce Wallace on July 29, 1960, and moved to Gruver in 1967. He retired after 25 years from the Texas Department of Transportation in 1993. He was preceded in death by his father, William Marvin Sparks; his mother, Wilma Leigh Sparks; and a daughter, Norma Lynn Blount. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julie Williams and husband, Neal, of Gruver; a son, Marvin Sparks and wife, Dorthy; a son-in-law, Robert Blount of Gruver; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa Leigh Messer and husband, Buddy, of Canyon; a special cousin, James Waide and wife, Claudia, of Roswell, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kiefer was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Wister, Okla. Survivors include a son, Montie Kiefer of Dumas; three daughters, Peggy May, Janis Trammell and Jeannie Simmons, all of Wister, Okla.; a sister, Ruth Akers of Wister; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Delbert Serratt of Amarillo and the Rev. Jess Little, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Driskill was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Howe. He was an Armstrong County resident since 1947. He married Myrtice Elyda Anderson on Aug. 9, 1941, in Claude. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had been a farmer for most of his life and also was a heavy equipment operator for Armstrong County for several years before his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher for several years. He also served as a deacon for more than 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Gentry Driskill; his wife on Feb. 20, 1984; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Campbell and husband, Danny, of Anson; two sisters, Margie Davis of Granbury and Elsie Nell Dansbee of Early; a brother, Paul Driskill of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren, Jim Campbell of Abilene, Danella Wheeler of Snyder and Sarah Bell of Anson; six great- grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Canadian. She married John Martin on Sept. 27, 1947, in Clovis, N.M. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt. She and her husband farmed in Castro and Lamb counties since 1947. She moved to Amarillo to Craig Methodist Retirement Community in 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 2, 1993. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Rueben Vargas of Englewood, Colo., Albert Vargas of Aurora, Colo., and Phillip Vargas of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Vargas of Dallas; and four sisters, Patsy Gallegos and Clara Rojas, both of Dalhart, Texas, Jean Darbro of Guymon and Kathy Gomez of Liberal, Kan. Mrs. Barker was born April 20, 1931, in Amarillo to David and Jessie McCartney Dammier. She retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas, and since 1986 was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. She was married to her loving husband, Garret Barker, for 53 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda Barker in 1976; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mark Barker and wife, Aimee; a grandson, Austin Barker; a granddaughter, Maggie Barker; and two sisters. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Temple Houston Deaver Jr. DENISON - Temple Houston Deaver Jr., 81, died Sunday, June 12, 2005. He married Cassandra Morris on June 28, 1947, in Memphis.
