Mrs. Kingston was the oldest daughter born in a family of five. She was born June 25, 1919, in Seymour to William Luther Cunningham and Zora Lucinda Reynolds Cunningham. She grew up during the Depression, learned how to be thrifty and stretch a dollar. She had two brothers, Chester and Norris, and two sisters, Beatrice Messenger and Opal Bale. Family traditions and reunions were always a priority to Geneva. Her love of family and God continued on as she married and began her own family. She said the happiest day of her life was when she married the love of her life, Bill Bransford Kingston, on March 24, 1940, in Haskell. They became the parents of three children, Bill Kingston Jr., Jimmy Ray and Judith "Judy" Margaret. Being a wife and a mother made her life complete. She worked at Marie Foundations from the day it opened until the day it closed (about 20 years). She loved to sew and continued to make baby quilts and stuffed rabbits after the factory closed. The simple pleasures in life - nature, birds, flowers, gardening, making quilts - have always made Geneva happy. She enjoyed her extended family at McLean Care Center. "Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Her children arise up and call her blessed," Proverbs 31: 25, 28 These Bible verses describe Geneva perfectly and reflected her philosophy for life. She lived each day with a sweet smile on her face not realizing how her gentle nature and smile brightened so many lives. The ringing sounds of her laughter and playful nature made you want to join in and enjoy the passing moment. You read her thoughts through the expressions of her eyes or she would reach out to hold your hand. Although she was quiet in nature, she will never realize the impact she had on the lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. and Zora Cunningham; her husband, Bill Kingston; a son, Bill Kingston Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Kyle Kingston. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Wood and husband, Gary, of Pampa; a son, Jim Kingston and wife, Minnie, of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Billie Kingston of McLean; seven grandchildren, Joel and Jeff Kingston of Hobbs, N.M., Amber Kingston of Panhandle, Misti English of Tuscola, Jimmy Kingston of Amarillo, Brandon Wood of Round Rock and Jason Wood of Pampa; and 12 great- grandchildren.
