She worked as a manager for several hotels and motels in Amarillo. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Paul Evans in 1974, and a nephew, Michael Darren Webb in 1981. Mr. Cook was born in Moundridge, Kan., and later moved to Texas where he farmed and ranched. After many years in Texas, he moved to New Mexico where he, along with sons Doug and Darrell, proudly owned Cook's Truck Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Kenneth, Elmer, Clayton and Wayne, and his parents, Bert and Bertha Cook. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Haynes was born April 26, 1926, in Greenwood, Ark. He was a Dumas resident since 1957. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Dumas. He married Peggy Coleman on Sept. 29, 1945, in Russellville, Ark. He started teaching in 1946. He taught at Van Buren, Ark., and then at Lazbuddie before moving to Dumas. He was a math teacher at Dumas Junior High and also served as assistant principal. He was principal at Cactus and assistant principal at Dumas High School, retiring in 1989. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Haynes in 1965 and Billy Haynes in 1967. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Haynes and wife, Thelma, of Muleshoe; and three grandchildren, Neal Haynes, Brendan Haynes and Sasha Michelle Haynes. Mr. Rives, 46, died peacefully Wednesday, June 15, at his home in Bryan. The lives of his family and friends were much diminished by his sudden and unexpected passing. Doug was born Jan. 8, 1959, in Shamrock to Douglas and Josephine Rives. Doug was born and raised in Shamrock and graduated with pride from Shamrock High School. He was a member of the National Guard, where he served proudly for six years. It was during this time that some of his deepest lifelong friendships were established. Doug left Shamrock to be employed by Burlington Resources, and, at the time of his death, had been employed by Burlington for more than 20 years, most recently serving as production supervisor in Bryan. He cherished his years of employment with Burlington and the many, many close friendships that he developed during that time. He was proud of Burlington's image in the corporate world and the part he played in the development of that image. Although Doug's career with Burlington took him to several states and many cities, he never lost his love for Shamrock. Doug enjoyed life and lived every day to the fullest. He loved grilling steaks, playing golf and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys. But, most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend to many. To all of those who touched his life, may you be blessed, as he was, with joy, love and happiness. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son, Dillon. Survivors include his wife and loving companion of 23 years, Jami; two children, Ashley and Derek; his mother of Shamrock; a sister, Sue Crowson of Austin; and many doting nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who each hold many memories of his kindness, generosity and gentle spirit. Mrs. Haliburton taught Sunday school and was an artist. She loved to paint. She was a member of Church of Christ in Vega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Haliburton. She attended Nazareth schools and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1943. She married Walter Leo Kuper on Nov. 28, 1944. She engaged in farming with her husband and worked as school cafeteria manager for HISD and St. Anthony's schools for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; five sisters, Hilda Neusch, Rose Koenig, Helen Homer, Theresa Levin and Margaret Womack; three brothers, Leo Aichlmayr, Joe Aichlmayr and Paul Aichlmayr; a grandchild; and two great- grandchildren. She was born June 5, 1916, in Ennis. She moved to Cleburne in 2000 from Dimmitt. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Curby Ables on Dec. 20, 1992, and two sons, John Cline on April 28, 2003, and Virgil Cline on Nov. 29, 2004. Mrs. Howe was born March 22, 1920, in Kaufman. Shirley attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, where she met her future husband, Claude M. "Bud" Howe. The couple were married in August 1945 after Bud's return from active duty in World War II and moved to Amarillo, where they lived for more than 35 years. After her children entered school, Shirley began her love affair with teaching, which spanned more than 25 years until her retirement in May 1982. After her husband's death in 1985, she moved to Arlington to be near family and friends and lived there until moving to a retirement community in Houston in 2002. Always resilient and never looking back, she made many friends in both Arlington and Houston and will be sorely missed. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Howe Szalkowski and husband, Charles, of Houston; a son, Don Howe and wife, Vickie, of Alpharetta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Szalkowski of San Francisco and Stephen Szalkowski of Austin; and many other friends and family. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in DFW National Cemetery with Tommy Teague, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Jackson was born June 19, 1937, in Amarillo. She was known as Mom, Mama, Donna V and Dondee. She graduated from Amarillo High School, Golden Sandies, Class of '55, where she was lieutenant colonel of the ROTC. She also attended Baylor University. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed doll collecting, antique and country collectibles, volunteered as a candy striper at a local hospital and sold Mary Kay cosmetics. She was a member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church, where she was involved in many Sunday school activities and ladies' Bible study groups. Her greatest enjoyment in life were her children, grandchildren and her many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Geraldine Yocham, and grandmother, Eva Worsham. Survivors include her husband, Dudley; two sons, John Jackson and wife, Nancy, of Houston and Rick Jackson of North Richland Hills; a daughter, Ginger Jackson Collins of North Richland Hills; a sister, Reba Hardin and husband, Dick, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and five grandchildren, Amy Jackson of New York City, Aaron Jackson of Boston, Josh Jackson and Jake Jackson, both of Hollister, Calif., and Canyon Collins of North Richland Hills.
