Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Garrett and the Rev. Zack Pannell officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Pannell was born Aug. 30, 1911, near Lawton, Okla. During his teen years, his family moved to Plainview, where he graduated from Plainview High School and attended Wayland Baptist College. Mr. Pannell married the former Jane Adelle Robinson of Plainview on April 13, 1934. The couple met while Floyd was a student at Wayland and Jane was a student at Plainview High School. Mr. Pannell was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the Navy from June 1943 until October 1945, as Sonarman H, Second Class. After the war, he received both BA and MS degrees from Baylor University. Floyd taught in several area schools including Claude, Tulia and Plainview. In 1954, he was appointed postmaster in Tulia and served in that position 11 years. He later served as an area consultant for the Texas Education Agency in the field of office education. He retired in 1974. He was active in the Kiwanis Organization for many years and served one term as president of the Tulia chapter. Floyd and Jane spent several retirement years in Bella Vista, Ark., then moved to Amarillo in 1985, where they were members of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 2, 2005. Survivors include a son, Zack E. Pannell and wife, Nancy, of Denton; three daughters, Loana Ann Webb and Floydelle Milam, both of Amarillo, and Helen Messler and husband, Pete, of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren. "Charlie" Simpson Charles I. "Charlie" Simpson, 74, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 30, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Private family burial will be in Lockney Cemetery in Lockney. Mr. Simpson was born and raised in Lockney and was a graduate of Lockney High School. He married Mildred "Millie" Rodgers on Nov. 5, 1948, in Clovis, N.M. He lived in the Texas Panhandle most of his life, where he worked for Curry Motor Freight for many years. He was affiliated with First Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Tom Simpson in February; and a sister, Betty Emmitt in January. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Edie Simpson of Arlington; three sons, Rick Simpson and wife, Susan, of Plano, Zoe Simpson and wife, Pattie, of Kingwood and Jeff Simpson and wife, Roseanna, of Corinth; a sister, Iwana Monroe of Tulia; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Delores R. Stallings Delores R. Stallings, 76, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Larry Stallings officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Stallings was born and raised in Amarillo. She married Stanley Stallings in 1946 at Amarillo. Delores worked at Avondale Elementary School in the cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Eddie Stallings of Amarillo and Larry Stallings of San Antonio; a sister, Almeta Malone of Garden Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnie "J.J." Cunningham Johnie "J.J." Cunningham, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 Services will be at noon Saturday in Polk Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Marty Hamrick officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Cunningham was born Jan. 7, 1923, to Early and Georgia Cunningham. He served in the Navy during World War II aboard a jeep carrier in the North Atlantic. He married the former Betty Caldwell in 1947. Mr. Cunningham owned several businesses in Amarillo including Paramount Shamrock Service Station, J&J Trucking and One Hour Martinizer Dry Cleaning. He retired in 1983. Mr. Cunningham was a longtime member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class for more than 58 years. He was a Mason and a big supporter of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; a brother; and six sisters. Survivors include two sons, John Robert Cunningham of Lemoore, Calif., and Clay Thomas Cunningham of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. Stewart, 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 26, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Stewart was the son of Frank and Margaret Stewart of Hempstead, N.Y. He was born Sept. 24, 1918, the oldest child of a large family. Frank served a number of years in the Army and met Dorothy Eaton while stationed in Abilene. They were married in Dallas on Jan. 19, 1947. After leaving the military the couple settled in Amarillo, where they have lived ever since. They had been married for 57 years when Dorothy died in June 2004. Frank worked for many years as the general manager of Robert's Paper Co., retiring in 1985. Since retirement, Frank became active in volunteer work through Catholic Family Service and Meals on Wheels. He had remained active in his church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, until the time of his death. After a heart attack in 1968, Frank became well known in the neighborhood, taking daily long walks, years before it was popular to do so. Frank will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, John, Dave and Art; a sister, Carol; a son-in-law, Rick Thompson; and an infant son, Michael. Survivors include three children, Cynthia Thompson of Amarillo, Susan Stewart and Mark White, both of Spring, and Tim Stewart and wife, Elaine, of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren, James Thompson of Amarillo, and Austin Stewart and Kate Stewart, both of Austin; a sister, Betty Ivero of Long Island, N.Y.; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Team was born and raised in Childress and was a graduate of Childress High School. She also attended Abilene Christian College. She married W.H. "Bill" Team on Nov. 21, 1954, in Amarillo, and had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 40 years. Mrs. Team was a member of Central Church of Christ for many years, and was a charter member of the Church of Christ at The Colonies. She loved being "Memaw" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything else. She loved playing games and was loved by many for her candy making. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patty Vincent of Amarillo; a son, Bob Team and wife, Tammy, of Amarillo; her mother, Arradel Powell of Amarillo; three sisters, Patsy Duncan and Charlotte Powell, both of Amarillo, and Peggy Blanton and husband, Everett, of Abilene; three brothers, Joe Powell and wife, Nancy, of Kentucky, Bob Powell and wife, Kay, of Fort Worth and Ben Powell and wife, Gail, of Franklin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Kaye, Kaycee and Heath Vincent, Amy Ruf, Jody Team, Josh Team, Cameron and Maddie Bradley and Monica Borin; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Haley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Booker Christian Church with Bobby Smithson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. Mr. Lehman was born June 17, 1919, in LaKemp, Okla., to Edwin William and Mary Estelle Winn. Winn moved to Booker soon after it became a town and started school. He graduated from Booker High School and enrolled at Texas Tech University, where he later graduated. On April 3, 1943, Winn married Irwie Beverly Buie at Stamford. They lived in Houston for a short time before moving to Booker. To this union two sons were born, Robert and Bill. Winn operated Lehman Grocery Store until 1975, when the building was destroyed. He then became actively involved in agriculture. Winn had served as mayor of Booker and had served on the Booker School Board. He was always a very strong supporter of the Booker community. His God, family and church were the most important things to him. Winn was a very active member of Booker Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Robert L. Lehman of St. Louis, Mo., and Bill Lehman and wife, Pam, of White Deer; two grandchildren, William Winn Lehman and wife, Keri, of Simsbury, Conn., and Mary Pat Rogers and husband, Josh, of Rockspring; and many friends. Mr. Parker was a veteran of the Army and the National Guard, serving during the Korean conflict. He was an ordained minister at Open Door Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Goodwin was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Stratford. She was a lifelong resident of Sunray. She was owner of a family grocery store, and was a member of First Church of God in Christ at Clovis. Survivors include three sisters, Willola Slaughter Wells of Waco, Texas, Gussie Slaughter Wilson of Chicago and Mrs. Johnny Slaughter Bacy of Corpus Christi, Texas; three stepsons, Bishop W.C. He was a circulation manager and later became publisher for the Clovis News Journal, where he retired after 30 years in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Faunette; a son, Brooks Griffin of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Mary Afsharirad of Allen, Texas, Raynette Keith Barker of Clovis; and six grandchildren. Mr. Spirlock married Jerry Overton on Jan. 16, 1958, in Perryton, Texas. He worked as a truck driver.
