Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be in Arlie Cemetery in Childress County. Ms. Baker was born in Childress on Aug. 1, 1943, and raised in Wellington. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1962. She moved to Amarillo from Wellington in 1984. She was a commercial artist and photographer and did freelance work for 20 years. She was a Baptist. Ms. Baker worked and volunteered with many non-profit organizations in Amarillo. She loved being "Mom" and "Grandma" more than anything else. Survivors include two sons, James Baker and wife, Linda, and Tommy Baker and wife, Beth, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Lisa Baker of Lubbock; two sisters, Katie Crawford of Amarillo and Sue Boggs of Choctaw, Okla.; a brother, Bill Adkins of Sweetwater; and four grandchildren, Shay'le, Matthew, Lakynn and Tarynn Baker. Mass will be at 2 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redula officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Amaya was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Lamesa to Jesus and Amelia Perez. She married Eddie Amaya in 1950 in Boulder, Colo. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Yolanda Amaya of Kress, Isabell Amaya of Temple and Margaret Amaya of Olton; five sons, Juan, Roy, Eliseo and David Amaya, all of Plainview, and Ernest Amaya of Olton; two brothers, Vidal and Jesse Perez, both of Dimmitt; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carolyn Jean "C.J." Burgan CLAUDE - Carolyn Jean "C.J." Burgan, 46, died Thursday, July 14, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Edwards, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Burgan was born Jan. 23, 1959, in Pana, Ill., to Robert W. and Daisy M. Ritchey Bowman. She married Ira Burgan in 1987 at Las Vegas. She and her husband had been in the trucking business for much of their lives. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jarod Challans of Pana and Jamie Challans of Vandalia, Ill.; a brother, Robert Bowman of Pana; an adopted sister, Sherry Ann Bowman of Pana; and a granddaughter, Sierra Challans of Pana. Harris, 83, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, in Perryton. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Follett United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Okla. Mr. Harris was a farmer and rancher who loved his church and family very much. Survivors include four sons, Jerald Harris of Oklahoma City, Kale Harris of Follett, Randy Harris of Belton and Monte Harris of Oceanside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Healey, 81, died Thursday, July 14, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Joe Bixenman of Perryton officiating. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson, Kan., with the Rev. David Metz officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Wilson. Arrangements are by Foster Mortuary in Wilson and Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mr. Healey was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Wilson. He married Irene Soukup on Oct. 28, 1947, in Ellsworth, Kan. He had lived in the area since 1958, moving from Wilson. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline for 28 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Perryton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Liberal, Kan. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline Kanuar Healey, and two brothers, John Healey and Jean Healey. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Juliana Sursa and husband, Rick, of Tucumcari, N.M.; two sons, Jim Healey of Spearman and Tim Healey and wife, Delores, of Maple Hill, Kan.; three sisters, Marjorie Soukup of Lindsborg, Kan., Rosanna Thompson of Lenexa, Kan., and Mary Lee Molz of Dearfield, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Layton was born April 12, 1951, in Vernon. He was a Dumas resident since 1990. Survivors include two children, Shannon of Plains and Amon Layton of Austin; two grandchildren; his mother, Penny Nemsgern of Dumas; two sisters, Patricia Fowler of Amarillo and Debbie Peek of Dayton; and two brothers, Charles "Charlie" Layton of Childress and Bryant Layton of Macungie, Pa. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clifford F. McBee PLAINVIEW - Clifford F. McBee, 96, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Garland Street Church of Christ with Russell Harris, minister, and J.W. Hamby officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. McBee was born May 9, 1909, in Throckmorton. He married Loreta Hodges on March 19, 1938, in Brady. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry McBee of Plainview and Billy McBee of Billings, Mont.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Medina Children's Home, 21300 Highway No. 16 North, Medina, TX 78055-3808. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Ira Stice Bruce HOUSTON - Ira Stice Bruce, 84, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., in Amarillo with Dr. John Bridwell, minister emeritus of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Mr. Bruce was born Dec. 31, 1920, in El Dorado, Kan., to William and Ida Bruce. Ira was a veteran of the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post in Amarillo. He was very active in the community. He was a member of the Plainview Lions Club, eight years; Amarillo Downtown Lions Club, 35 years; Toastmasters Club in Plainview, five years; Optimist Club of Plainview, seven years; Royal Neighbors Fraternity, 56 years; Plainview Citizen's Traffic Commission, five years and served as vice chairman in 1957; and Cancer Society of Hale County, five years, and served as chairman for three years. He was also a life member of Alpha Kapha Psi Fraternity and a member of First Christian Church for 60 years, having served as Sunday school superintendent five years in Plainview and as deacon for many years. He was a graduate of West Texas State with a bachelor of arts in business administration and received his master's degree from the University of Texas. He was also a member of the York Rite, Palo Duro Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shrine, Super Excellent Master, York Rite College, Order of the Silver Trowel, High Priesthood, Red Cross of Constantine, K.Y.C.H., Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priests, past president of the Scottish Rite Association and member of the 23rd Degree Team of the Scottish Rite. He served twice as Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and served on the board of the Rainbow for Girls, both in Plainview and in Amarillo. He was the owner and operator of Bruce & Son Moving Co. for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Wesley L. Bruce. Survivors include his wife, Lois; a daughter, Karen Biondi of Houston; two grandchildren, Shannon Pointer of Paris and Johnny Cordell of Andrews; two great-grandchildren, Zac and Brady Pointer, both of Paris; special friends, Randi E. Evans and Naomi A. Evans; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
