Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Fox officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Crumbie was born Nov. 10, 1915. He was a veteran, having served with the Marines during World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked in 1941. Mr. Crumbie was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Lubbock ISD. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Faye in 2003. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elvira Guerra PAMPA - Elvira Guerra, 64, died Monday July 18, 2005. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and a Guadalupana. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Howard was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Stillwell, Okla. She grew up in Bowlegs and graduated from high school there. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M University with a degree in elementary education. She married Wallace Howard on May 4, 1946, in Seminole, Okla. She was a homemaker and school teacher and later became a school administrator. She taught schools in Bowlegs, Seminole, Drumright and Cushing, Okla., and Farmington, N.M. Retiring in 1982, they moved back to Seminole. They moved to Tulia in 1998. Mr. Howard died Feb. 17, 2001. She was very active in the Methodist churches where they lived as a Sunday School teacher and church pianist. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, National Federation of Women’s Club and First United Methodist Church of Tulia. Survivors include a daughter, Terressa Leonard of Farmington; a son, Ben Howard and wife, Susan, of Tulia; four grandchildren, Chad and Carol Howard of Clovis, N.M., Sarah and Michael Allen and Missy Howard, all of Lubbock, and Brady and Heather Lane of Farmington; two great-granddaughters, Tylynn Lane of Farmington and Madison Howard of Clovis. Mr. Vidana was born June 17, 1983, in Sandra, Mexico. He was an employee of Booker Packing Co. and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Naugle was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Prior to moving to Sunray in 1985, she lived in Stratford all of her life. She married Willis Naugle on Aug. 17, 1929, in Guymon, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband; and two sons, Donald Naugle and Baby Naugle. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Davis and Dean Carroll, LaNell Blades and husband, Alton, and Malynda Hurd and husband, Tom; a son, Glen Naugle and Carol Robbins; a sister-in-law, Ruth Naugle; a brother-in-law, Basil Naugle; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren; and the wonderful caretakers at Memorial Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Eads was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Claude to Ray Dawkins and Elizabeth Hamel Dawkins. She graduated from Claude High School, where she played basketball. Their team won the first three Class “B” state championships. She later moved to Amarillo, where she married Gladwin A. Eads on Sept. 30, 1961. She was a secretary and retired from KGNC in 1998 after 22 years. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Survivors include her husband; her stepchildren, Charles Eads of Commerce, Colo., and Toni Eads of Denver; her mother of Claude; a sister, Lossie McGyert of Atlanta; a brother, D.L. Dawkins of Claude; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tommy Crabtree Tommy Crabtree, 59, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 16, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Oakdale Grace Fellowship Church. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Crabtree was born in Fairfax, Okla., to Coy and Celia Crabtree. He moved to Amarillo in 1950 from Borger. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1964, where he had been active in football and track. Mr. Crabtree worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 25 years, retiring on disability in 1991. He was a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Savanna Crabtree of Amarillo; a son, Trent Perriman of Amarillo; and a brother, Johnny Crabtree of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agnes Tarry Straube Agnes Tarry Straube, 88, of Amarillo died Monday, July 18, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Levelland with the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery by George C. Price Funeral Home of Levelland. Mrs. Straube was born Dec. 6, 1916, to Ann and Ray Tarry in Kansas City, Kan. She married Melvin Straube on March 20, 1947. They were married 50 years and lived in Levelland for 40 years. Agnes was a homemaker and worked as a school secretary at Cactus Elementary for 10 years. She was a member of Las Fidelis Study Club and received the Volunteer of the Year Award for outstanding service in 1994 from the Methodist Hospital Levelland. She taught Sunday school for many years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Levelland. She moved to Amarillo eight years ago and was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo and 50/50 Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include two daughters, Christie Byrne and Tarrie Pirtle and husband, Ken, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Susan Jones of Amarillo, Jeff Pirtle of Burbank, Calif., Sean Byrne of Bethesda Md., and Ryan Byrne of Frisco; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Bridget Jones of Amarillo. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Sandoval married Refugia Marie Ulibarri on March 24, 1955. He retired in 1991 from the Guymon Public Schools as a custodian. Survivors include his wife; four children, Stephen Sandoval of Chickasha, Anthony Sandoval and Chris Sandoval, both of Hugoton, Kan., and Dorothy Morris of Liberal, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Leo Sandoval of Amarillo, Texas. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Lee Parrish MADILL, Okla. - Mary Lee Parrish, 92, died Sunday, July 17, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Assembly of God Church with Weldon Wright, pastor, and Ron Brannan officiating. Music will be arranged by Rhonda Darnell. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery in Powell by Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Mrs. Parrish was born in Marble, Ark., on Jan. 27, 1913, to the late Jimmy Brown and Martha Epps Devin. Mary grew up in Arkansas and in 1922, she moved to the Powell area. In 1942, she moved to Panhandle, Texas. Later in 1976, she moved to Oklahoma City and in 1983 she moved back to Madill, where she lived the rest of her life. Mary married Judson Howard Parrish on Aug. 31, 1930, in Powell. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Madill. Mary enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 1, 1981; her parents; six brothers, Joseph, Claude, Ron, Jesse, Luther and Marvin; three sisters, Beatrice Robinson, Mattie Vickers and Bertha Waid; and a grandchild, Roger Wayne Parrish. Survivors include a son, Dean Parrish of Kingston; a daughter, Norma Darnell of Kingston; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister, Pauline Gray of Kingston; a sister-in-law, Nita Faye Parrish of Kingston; and two brothers-in-law, George Robinson and Johnny Parrish, both of Madill. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry McKenzie of Highland Church of Christ in Memphis, Tenn., officiating. Burial will be in Byers Cemetery by Byers. Mr. McKenzie was born in Grand Saline on Jan. 16, 1927, the son of Noel James and Evalyn Mae Driver McKenzie. He graduated from Van High School in 1943 before attending North Texas State University. He served in the Army for two years and later graduated from Texas A&M University in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology. On March 16, 1951, he married Lou Elleen Wright in Wichita Falls. He was employed by Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls before moving to Amarillo in 1957, where he worked for Continental Carbon. He later became an independent building contractor who specialized in residential homes and remodeling projects. For a period of time he worked for United Savings Life Insurance Co. He taught for Amarillo Independent School District as an industrial technology instructor at Tascosa High School and Horace Mann Junior High School. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Colfax Lodge No. 904 and a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 15, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Michael McKenzie of Houston and Scott McKenzie of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathy Heitmeyer of Paris, Mo.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, James McKenzie of Amarillo and Larry McKenzie of Memphis, Tenn.; and two sisters, Melba White and Thelma McKenzie of Abilene. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Joe K. Lester LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Dr. Joe K. Lester, 80, died Sunday, July 17, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. Dr. Lester was born Oct. 29, 1924, in Clarion, Iowa, to the late Marietta and John Lester. John Lester jumped ship at Ellis Island and swam to shore, fearing he would not be allowed in the country. The same determined spirit compelled Joe to use his years in the Army during World War II, where he was a Ranger and served through the occupation of Japan, to qualify him for medical school after only 2 years of college. After completing medical school at the University of Oklahoma in 1952 and several years of family practice in Shamrock, Texas, he received a degree in orthopedics and became the first orthopedist in North Little Rock. Dr. Lester always kept his Shamrock roots. After owning the Rambler Motel on Route 66, he built the Irish Inn, which at one time was the largest motel between Oklahoma City and Amarillo. He was married to his wife, Dayle Britt Lester, for 54 years. Dr. Lester succeeded in life, but he never forgot his humble beginnings. Although in his later years he suffered from Alzheimer’s, the family had special time to care for him and he will be greatly missed, especially the twinkle in his clear blue eyes. The family would like to express gratitude to his caregivers. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jack Lester. Survivors include his wife; his children, Mary Lester, Ellen Lester Reif and husband, Mike, Joe Lester Jr. and wife, Kathy, Carol Lester, John Lester and wife, Jessica; his grandchildren, Brittany Seeds, Courtney, Lyndsay and Bethany Lester, Rebecca, Will and Rachel Reif, and Max and Nicholas Lester; and a great-grandchild, Audrey Seeds. Burial will be in Shep Cemetery by Winters Funeral Home of Winters. Mr. Talley was born Oct. 28, 1945, in Winters and grew up in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo. He attended Amarillo College, Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Mich., and Los Angeles Valley College in Los Angeles. He was ordained as a minister in 1967 from Amarillo Bible Training Work. He married Kay Bahlman on Dec. 29, 1967, in Amarillo. His ministry was extensive throughout the world. He was currently minister of Greenwell Springs Road Church of Christ in Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Mattie Talley and a sister, Anna Higgins. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Talley and wife, Jennifer, of Abilene, Texas; three daughters, Holly Reinoehl and husband, Mitch, of Summerville, N.J., Mary Anna McNeill and husband, Todd, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Tiffany Talley of Abilene and her fiance, Daniel Fleming, of College Station; nine brothers and sisters, Bill Talley, Tommy Talley, Vernon Talley, Jerry Talley, Pete Talley, Frances Oglesby, Dorothy Morehead, Marita Evans and Marilyn Leach, all of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren, Jackson Talley, Landon Talley, Shae Talley, Grant Reinoehl, Avery Reinoehl, Kathryn McNeill and Ethan McNeill.
