Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Randy Davis, pastor of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Mr. Cathey was born Oct. 30, 1929, to J.E. and Emma Mae Cathey. He graduated from Phillips High School and attended Frank Phillips College before going into the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was in the Reserves until 1960. After his military service, he worked for McCartts and managed Safeway stores and Affiliated Food Stores in Amarillo. He moved to Midland and worked 17 years for Sewell Ford as a fleet salesman. After retirement, he moved to Amarillo and volunteered as an ombudsman for Area for the Aged. Mr. Cathey served as president of the Downtown Senior Citizens Kiwanis Club and as a past president of Family Counsel at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Earlene; two brothers, John and David; and a nephew, Chad Musgraves. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Ann Rogers and husband, Kirk, of Fort Worth and Lisa Ann Montman and husband, Richard, of Canada; a sister, Barbara Musgraves and husband, E.D., of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Paige Arlen Moore, Kassie Ann Rogers, Keri Elain Rogers and Sara Elizabeth Montman; two grandsons, Kirk B. "K.J." Rogers Jr. and Richard Clayton Montman; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Regina Magill. The family suggests memorials to be to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Aspermont Cemetery in Aspermont. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Bomarton to John and May Taylor. She was a civil servant, having worked at Amarillo Air Force Base for many years. She was a farmer's wife, an artist and a Christian. She married Carlton D. Davis in Aspermont on July 6, 1936. He preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Carlton, in Aspermont. "Mother is now in Heaven holding my daddy's hand. We will miss you Mother!" She was also preceded in death by a son, Barney Paige. Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. "Bob" Trometer Robert L. "Bob" Trometer, 65, of Amarillo, formerly of Hinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005. Vigil services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Local arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Trometer died at BSA Hospice in Amarillo following a yearlong battle with cancer. Bob was born Dec. 24, 1939, in Sioux City, the son of Wesley A. and Hazel Markinson Trometer. He married Evelyn J. Angove on Aug. 16, 1963, in Remson, Iowa. He worked for the Farmer's Co-op Elevator in Hinton, then for Iowa Beef Processors. In 1975, he accepted a transfer to the IBP plant in Amarillo. In 1977, he joined Owens-Corning Fiberglas and retired from there in 2001. He was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Amarillo. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and the New Mexico mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Evelyn, and a son, Craig Trometer of Amarillo. The family suggest memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. McCrate French Geneva L. McCrate French, 89, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 23, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano East Cemetery with Dr. Charles Jones, Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Martin Road Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, 1505 Martin Road. Mrs. French passed away Saturday afternoon, July 23. She was born May 7, 1916, in Ridgeway. She was the last surviving child of nine children born to her parents, Pat and Sarah Deaton, who came to Texas from Arkansas in 1912. For some 17 years, Geneva was a teacher at Forest Hill Elementary School in Amarillo. She was formerly married to Woodrow J. McCrate, who passed away in 1966 following 26 years of marriage. Geneva then married Claude C. French on Nov. 20, 1975. Claude preceded Geneva in death in 2003. Her stepdaughter, Vicki French Eyer, who lives in Canyon, has been a local source of encouragement during recent periods of illness. Geneva was a member of Second Baptist Church and was also a member of Dorcas Sunday School Class. At the time of her death, Geneva had been a resident of Ware Care Center. She was preceded in death by both husbands; four brothers, Kermie E., Everett E., Leslie L. and Marshal M.; and four sisters, Christine Holley, Maprie Mitchell, Mary Lou Murphy and Lozeeda Flowers. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Vicki French Eyer of Canyon, and a large number of nephews and nieces, the offspring of many brothers and sisters. Three of these are the children of her older brother, Kermie, Patrick Deaton of Houston, Barbara Duderstandt of Austin and Veronica Estes of North Richland Hills. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joyce Harvey Nichols Joyce Harvey Nichols, 76, of Amarillo died Monday, July 25, 2005. She retired as an assistant manager from the El Paso County Library. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Beth Nichols; four brothers; and a sister. Arrangements are by Blackburn- Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Searcy was born Dec. 1, 1909, in Collin County near Prosper to Elwood and Jennie Searcy. A lifelong resident of Amarillo, Stinnett and the Texas Panhandle, Mr. Searcy was a longtime member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. Mr. Searcy had lived the last 17 months at the C.C. Young Assisted Living Community in Dallas. The family would like to express their special appreciation to Dean and Susan Stravato of Lake Tanglewood for their kind and generous support during C.C.'s and Marguerite's last few years in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Scoggan Searcy on Jan. 20, 2002; two children, Jerry Searcy and Sharon Cox; two sisters, Viola Coffee and Bernice Davis; and a brother, L.H. Searcy. Mrs. Dice was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Denison. She was a resident of Dumas for the past five years and a resident of Moore County since 1954. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. She was preceded in death by a son, Edmond Dice, in 1956, and her husband, G.L. Dice, in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Hise and husband, Tony, of Dumas and Fay Ann Mendosa and husband, John, of Amarillo; a son, Pete Dice and wife, Debbie, of Lake Jackson; eight grandchildren, Eddie, Shelley, Kris, Micah, Holiday, Jason, Megan and Christopher; 10 great-grandchildren; dear friend, Simona Flores and family; and beloved extended families of Calvary Baptist Church and Golden Heritage. Private burial will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. Lt. Col. Demas was born Sept. 27, 1917, to Katherine Trivilas Demas and Peter Demas of Cleveland. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Carey Skinner, minister at Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, Amarillo. Mrs. McCracken was born in Oklahoma to Charles Hulet Sullivan and Martha Brimmer Sullivan. She married Arthur I. McCracken in 1929 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1978. Mrs. McCracken was a longtime Amarillo resident and had moved to Fort Collins two years ago. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McCracken was a good neighbor, mother and grandmother. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Edwards of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; two sons, Mike McCracken of Fort Collins and John McCracken of California; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
