Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dale Moreland, associate pastor of San Jacinto Baptist Church of Quail Creek, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Keeney was born July 28, 1909, in Hope, Ark. She married R.M. Keeney on Dec. 26, 1925. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Dec. 26, 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Keeney moved to Dumas from Hall County in 1934. They owned and operated Keeney Bakery in Dumas until 1955, then moved to Amarillo, where they were in the bakery business until their retirement in 1970. They were longtime members of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Mrs. Keeney was preceded in death by her husband in October 2001. Survivors include three sons, R.M. “Mert” Keeney and wife, Freda, of Dumas, Stanley L. Keeney and wife, Evelyn, of Amarillo and A.E. Keeney of Fritch; a daughter, Theresa Jackson of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth Wade Jones of Shawnee, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the East Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Charles Jones of Hollywood Road Community Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Kimble was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Panhandle to W.H. and Mada Elizabeth Hill Kimble. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He was a World War II and European Theater veteran, serving in the Army and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Sharon Wynelle Kimble-Plattner. He is survived by a son, David Kent Kimble and wife, Katrina, of Amarillo; a twin sister, Bernice Brewer and husband, Farris, of Amarillo; a sister, Naoma Thornton and husband, Olin, of Waxahachie; three grandsons, Joshua Kimble, Jeremy Kimble and Drew Kimble, all of Amarillo; and a loving lifetime friend, Hilda Strader of Amarillo. Sanchez Maria Manuela G. Sanchez, 84, of Amarillo died Monday, July 25, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Sanchez was born in the winter of 1920 in Midland. She married Emeterio Rico in 1938 and moved to Amarillo in 1963. She was a business woman and became the owner and proprietor of the Main Bar around 1973. Mrs. Sanchez attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Emilia Rodriguez, in 1983. Survivors include four sons, George Rico and Narciso Rico, both of Midland, Luis Rico of Amarillo and Augustin Sanchez of Portland; and five daughters, Ester Estrada of Midland, Maria D. “Cooky” Sanchez and Maria “Lupe” Ramirez, both of Lubbock, and Yolanda Salas and Teresa Diaz, both of Amarillo; 53 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Lula Pearl “Pete” Floyd PANHANDLE - Lula Pearl “Pete” Floyd, 57, died Monday, July 25, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Hedley with the Rev. Billy Jack Capps officiating and the Rev. Bruce Howard assisting. Interment will be in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mrs. Floyd was born on Feb. 2, 1948, in Levelland. She had been a Panhandle resident for 30 years. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Panhandle. She married Gene Floyd on Nov. 9, 1979, in Claude. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gene Engledow; and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Gene Floyd; a son, Tony Floyd of Panhandle; three daughters, Tammy Whitt of Pampa, Kandy Pounds and Julie Neeley, both of Sunray; two brothers, Melvin Watson of Vernal, Utah, and C.A. Sweet of Weatherford; a sister, JoAnn Capps of Big Spring; and 10 grandchildren. There will be family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Panhandle Funeral Home. Mr. Harvey was born on May 15, 1917, in Seymour. He served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Mrs. VanHouten worked as a nurse in the Big Spring area in the early 1950s to the late 1960s, then in the Odessa and Kermit areas until the early 1970s. She was instrumental in the starting of the Howard College’s Nursing School and was a graduate of the first class taught. Survivors include her husband, W.C. Mr. Gonzales was born on Feb. 8, 1982, in Clayton, N.M., to Gilbert and Sharon Gonzales. He was a member of the Clovis Fire Department Honor Guard and attended First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bethany; a son, Adrian; his parents, Gilbert and Sharon Gonzales of Clayton; a brother-in-law, Shad DeFoor of Clayton; three grandmothers, Frances Montoya, Elaine Olivas and Mary Gonzales, all of Clayton; and grandparents, Harry and Nadine Downey. Mrs. Miller was born April 9, 1921, in McQueen, Okla., to Vernon and Lillie Wise. She married Carroll D. Miller on March 5, 1940, in Clovis. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Jean Northcott of Topeka, Kan.; a son, Philip Eugene Miller of Topeka; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. He was a resident of the Pampa and Mobeetie areas most of his life and moved to Angel Fire in 2000. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mrs. Shiplet was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Henryetta, Okla. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Logan. For many years, she and her late husband, Jack Shiplet, owned and operated the LP Gas Co. in Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a brother, Finus T. Curnutt. Survivors include two daughters, Etta Clara Butler of Del City, Okla., and Barbara Modisette of Clovis; two sons, Kenneth Shiplet of Logan and Billy Jack Shiplet of Raymore, Mo.; two brothers, Albert Curnutt of Portales and G.A. His friends can join the family for lunch at noon Thursday at the Melrose Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Sparks was born Feb. 10, 1924, in the Perry Community in New Mexico. He was a gentleman farmer with a passion for horses, old trucks, good friends and a spirited game of pool. Survivors include a sister, Kathryn Biggers of Melrose; a half brother, Allen Sparks of Fort Sumner; his wife, Patricia E. Sparks of California; three sons, Greg Sparks of Maryland, Steven B. She married Domenick “Dick” Zurzolo on Aug. 19, 1942, in Clovis. Vandiver BELLA VISTA, Ark. - John M. Vandiver Sr., 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, July 22, 2005, at his home in Bella Vista. Mr. Vandiver was born on Oct. 24, 1915, in Childress County to Mannon Vandiver and Jenny P. Bowen Vandiver. He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines for 35 years. He moved to Bella Vista 16 years ago from Amarillo. He was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bonnie; two sons, Ronnie Vandiver of Matador and John Michael Vandiver of Bella Vista; a brother, Floyd Vandiver of Amarillo; a sister, Lois Newman of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Wade Vandiver and wife, Lorye, of Houston, April Dawn Perkins and husband, Ralph, of Heidelburg, Germany, Scott Michael Vandiver of Bella Vista and Dustin Vandiver and wife, Heather, of Gravette, Ark.; and two great-grandchildren.
