Martinez Jose R. Martinez, 67, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005. Family memorial services will be at a later date in Corpus Christi. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home. Mr. Martinez was born Sept. 28, 1937, in Bastrop County to Eliaro Martinez and Hermia Rodriguez Martinez. Jose was a self-employed blade man. Survivors include a son, Abram Martinez of Corpus Christi; and a brother, Juan Martinez of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Fay Molder Mobley Ruth Fay Molder Mobley, 75, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories in Clarendon with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mrs. Mobley was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Dalhart and was raised in Donley County. She attended Lelia Lake schools and was the Lelia Lake High School salutatorian in 1947. She was a resident of Wichita Falls before moving to Amarillo in 1950. She married Luther Edward “Ed” Mobley on June 19, 1949, in Hedley. She was a homemaker and a member of a non-denominational church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She was a strong and independent woman who enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; a son, Donald Mobley in 1982; a daughter, Pat Atkin in 2002; four brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a son, Michael Mobley of Amarillo; two daughters, Debbie Lomax and Martha Gay Tomlinson, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pratt, 79, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Ware Living Center. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Pratt was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Greensburg, Pa., to Jacob and Katherine Sawyer. She grew up in Coraopolis, Pa., where she met James David Pratt. She married James on April 24, 1947, in Coraopolis. They were married for 56 years. Dorothy was a homemaker who lived all over Texas following Jim Pratt in his journalism career. They moved to Mississippi in 1982 and returned to Amarillo in 2003. Dorothy was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Altar’s Society. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 25, 2003; and a grandson, Austin Travis on May 11, 1986. Warren loved the outdoors, from fishing to working in his yard. He cherished his grandchildren greatly. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today in Flomot Cemetery in Flomot by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Crowell peacefully joined our Lord on July 28, 2005. She was born June 4, 1917, in Scranton to Mack F. and Eva Jobe Richardson. Wilma graduated from high school in Abilene in 1933 and received her BA in English from Hardin- Simmons University in 1937. Wilma was a member of the HSU Cowgirls Honorary Society and played tennis. Following graduation from HSU she taught school, first in Clyde and later in McLean before marriage. In 1954, Wilma received a MA in education from West Texas State University and later taught in Flomot, Amarillo, Bushland, Levelland, Wharton and West Columbia (Brazoria County). Wilma was a longtime member of P.E.O. Sisterhood of professional educators and was a past president of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was a member of Amarillo’s “Forty-Five Uppers” organization and was active in the Democratic party in Texas, serving several times as a delegate from Potter County to the Texas State Democratic Party Convention. A lifelong Baptist, Wilma joined First Baptist Church in Amarillo upon returning from Brazoria County in 1978, and was active in Seniors Sunday school. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of bridge groups in both Amarillo and Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Odis Crowell; her parents; and her brothers, Oran and Mark Richardson. Survivors include four sons, Max and wife, Patricia, of Tucson, Stephen and wife, Phyllis, of Spring, James and wife, Karen, of Houston and Kent and wife, Marla, of Midland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Zelma Hunt of Killeen. Hannigan, 62, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005. A public Irish wake will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Valley Inn in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Hannigan was born to George Allen Hannigan and Lela Madge Foree Hannigan in Grand Junction, Colo. He was raised in Grand Junction and graduated from high school there. He served in the Army from 1961 until 1965 and served in Vietnam. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1970 and worked for the Valley Café for more than 13 years. He has worked for Valley Inn for the past three years. Survivors include a sister, Derrelie Cates of Amarillo; a brother, Larry Hannigan and wife, Cindy, of Port Isabel; various nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Mrs. Jean Cox of Reno, Nev. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Frank Heflin Robert Frank Heflin, 83, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 28, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Smith, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Heflin was born May 29, 1922, in Danville, Ala. After graduating from high school in 1939, he attended Franklin College in Indiana. In 1942, he interrupted his college education to join the Army Air Corps. After an honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Franklin College, receiving his baccalaureate degree in 1948. After working in Tennessee as an investigator for the Civil Service Commission, he attended Peabody College and Vanderbuilt University, where he received his master of arts degree in history. During these graduate studies he served in research and teaching fellowships, positions which continued as he completed the work for his doctoral degree at Vanderbuilt. In 1957, he accepted a teaching position in the department of history at West Texas A&M University, a position which spanned three decades and continued until his retirement. During his teaching career at WT, he earned the respect both of his colleagues and his students as evidenced by awards in teaching excellence, favorite professor and, upon retirement, professor emeritus of history. He contributed his talents in many ways to the quality of the wider university campus, but most especially by his leadership in organizing a chapter of Phi Delta Theta, a national social fraternity that he had joined as an undergraduate student at Franklin College. He served as faculty advisor to the WT campus chapter until his retirement. Mr. Heflin married Patsy Blair Morris in 1973. She shared his love of travel especially in the British Isles. Both were active in church activities at St. Stephen United Methodist, serving in many leadership positions until her illness and death. In 2003, he moved to Craig Methodist Retirement Community, where he lived until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a stepson, Kelly Blair Morris. Survivors include a sister, Mary Elizabeth Lockhart and husband, John, of Hartselle, Ala.; two nephews, Tim Lockhart and wife, Anne, of Norfolk, Va., and Drew Lockhart and wife, Leslie, of Huntsville, Ala.; a niece, Abigail Lockhart of Lilburn, Ga.; a stepson, John Miller Morris of Austin; and a stepgranddaughter, Erin Claire Morris of Austin. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Khiva Temple of the Shrine, Drum and Bugle Corps., Yellow Rose Sams and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo in April 2003. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Reed, known as Kenney, CK or Chuckie, was born May 12, 1931, in Amarillo to Charles S. and Thelma Reed. Kenney married Barbara Faye Ditto on Feb. 12, 1954. They celebrated 51 years of marriage this year. Kenney served in the Army from 1951 to 1952. He worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Amarillo from 1948 until 1966. He was employed at Pantex from 1966 until his retirement in 1997. Georgia St. Ms. Trimble was born March 25, 1934, in Artesia, N.M., to James and Lavora Mayden. She was raised in Oklahoma. Mrs. Trimble married David Lee Trimble on Sept. 12, 1950, in Portales, N.M. She was a homemaker but did occasionally work outside the home as a chef. Cooking was her passion. She cooked for Polk Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and painting. In the past few years she became computer savvy, e-mailing friends, family and researching genealogy. She was very knowledgeable and could have succeeded at anything she put her mind to. She was a sweet loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francis Trimble Burchfield on Feb. 3, 1999; and two brothers, Edwin and Warren Lee Mayden. Georgia St. Mr. Homer was born Aug. 5, 1912, to Mary and Killian Homer in Rhineland. He moved to Groom where he met and married Agnes Koetting in 1939. She preceded him in death in January 2004. He did custom harvesting work until 1955 when he purchased the Texaco station in Groom, operating it until 1973. He was also engaged in farming. He was a member of Groom Lions Club. He was instrumental in organizing and starting the Groom Ambulance Service. He was a volunteer driver for 21 years. He was elected mayor of Groom in 1981 and served five terms until he retired. He also assisted Agnes in cutting the squares for the lap quilts that she made and donated to the many nursing homes in the area. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Groom and the Men’s Club. He enjoyed selling “books” of raffle tickets, playing dominoes, gin rummy and hearts. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother; and two sisters. Our mom, always looking out for others before herself, loved to make special, precious things for us, and crocheted blankets for us and our pets, too. She was the best tamale cook in the world and tortillas were her specialty. Boy did she spoil the grandkids, always taking their side. Sat and Maria, our parents, were married in Tucumcari, N.M. They honeymooned in Dalhart and loved it so much they settled. Maria Quintana known by most as Edie or Eddy, and was always ready to help anyone in need. She so loved the Catholic Church and Crusillo movement. Jesus was the number one way. Eternal rest be granted unto her our Lord and let your light shine upon her. We love you Mommy, Nene and Grandma. Worth in West Point, Miss., the third daughter of four children. She moved to Amarillo at age 2 and graduated from Amarillo High School. On Dec. 26, 1937, she married her husband of 67 years, Ernest A. Sego in Alamosa, Colo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha S. Sego-Calvert. She is survived by her husband; a sister, Martha E.
