Amarillo Globe-News http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ============================================================== Amarillo Globe-News Obituaries August 6, 2005 Amarillo Stephen Dale Carroll Stephen Dale Carroll, 61, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Mr. Carroll was born in Rock Island, Ill., to Jackson Vernon and Mary Ann Carroll on Nov. 14, 1943. He served in the Air Force. Mr. Vernon moved to Amarillo in 1960. He was employed by Frank's Repair Plumbing as a HVAC technician. He married Melody "Murphy" Whisenhunt in Amarillo on Aug. 12, 2002. Mr. Carroll was a smooth dancer and swept his wife off her feet more than once. When he wasn't fishing, he enjoyed a good poker or gin game with a pot of coffee close at hand. Although he appeared to be a rough "ole grouch" on the outside, he was the most generous man you could ever meet, offering assistance to anyone that needed it. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the owners and staff of Frank's Plumbing for all their support. Another note of thanks to all of Stephen's friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Treiva Daniels and husband, Marvin, of Amarillo; two sons, Vernon Carroll of Fort Worth and Thomas Carroll of Amarillo; his mother, Mary Ann Carroll of North Dakota; three sisters, Joyce, Susan and Judy, all of North Dakota; a brother, Michael of North Dakota; two stepsons, James Whisenhunt and wife, Christi, of Kilgore and Daniel Whisenhunt of Amarillo; and a stepgrandson, Jonathan Whisenhunt of Kilgore. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Gilberto Trevino Galvan HALE CENTER - Gilberto Trevino Galvan, 63, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in Lubbock. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Friday in Bartley Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be at noon today in St. Teresa Catholic Church with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery. Mr. Galvan was born Feb. 4, 1942, in Anson. He married Olga Alvarado on April 22, 1977, in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Juan Florencio Galvan of Hillsboro, Willie Ramos and Marcos Galvan, both of Hale Center, and Felix Galvan of Wynnewood, Okla.; eight daughters, Melda Ruiz, Rose Garcia and Elizabeth Lucero, all of Hale Center, Diana Carrion of Plainview, Doris Mason of Dallas, Rose Vargas of Grand Prairie, Beatrice Nunez of Lago Vista and Maria Olga Ochoa of Amarillo; four brothers, Mike Galvan and Eligio Galvan, both of Plainview, Joe Lozano of Anson and Raul Jimenez of Amarillo; eight sisters, Maria Ruiz of Elsa, Lydia Ochoa of Edinburg, Hortencia Rodriguez of Amarillo, Feliz Cervantez of Lemesa, Helodia Chapa of Plainview, Juanita Gonzales of Broken Arrow, Okla., Eva Galvan of Fort Worth and Louisa Seballos of Abilene; 37 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Ralph E. Hall HOBBS, N.M. - Ralph E. Hall, 75, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in Lubbock, Texas. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Street Church of Christ with Virgil Webb, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Mr. Hall was born April 28, 1930, in Harlen, Ky. He married Pauline Miles in 1952. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pam Dees of Hobbs and Kathy Wiseman of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Randy Hall of Riverside, Calif.; four brothers; five sisters; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
