Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Lyndon Latham of Anna Street Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Chilton was born in Plainview. She moved to Amarillo where she had resided for 65 years. She retired from the Amarillo Independent School District after 30 years in cafeteria management. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace "Chili" Chilton in 1987; two sons, Leland "Skeet" Chilton in 1980 and Darwyn "Bud" Chilton in 2002; two grandsons, Lee Chilton in 1987 and Leland Chilton II in 1987; and a sister, Verdis Wheeler in 1990. Survivors include four grandchildren including Melody Mullane of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Leland Chilton III, Lace Ward and William Mullane, all of Amarillo; three great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Lona Chilton of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thelma Dell Eubanks Amarillot Thelma Dell Eubanks, 83, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in Denver. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Moreland, associate pastor of San Jacinto Baptist Church at Quail Creek, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Eubanks had been living in Denver with her daughter for the past two years due to deteriorating health. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and attended San Jacinto Baptist Church. She loved to read, embroider, eat Mr. Goodbars and take care of her poodles. Survivors include a daughter, Fran Reed and husband, Roy, of Lakewood, Colo.; a son, Raymond Eubanks of Wheeler; four grandchildren, Monte Reed, John Reed, Sonny Reed and Kari Osborn, all of Denver; and seven great-grandchildren. Fountain: 1915-2005 John T. Fountain, 90, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Fountain was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Rising Star to Howell C. Fountain and Molly V. Crowder. He married Zelta Campbell on April 18, 1936, in Farwell. He retired from SPS after 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Masonic Lodge No. 731, past patron of OES Bonita No. 184, Khiva Shrine - York Rite, and served as both Rainbow Girls dad and De Molay dad. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Howell Fountain in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Martin and husband, Bill, of Vernon and Voncille North and husband, Lester, of Amarillo; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Evans worked as a billing clerk at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital for 16 years. She was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alvy Marshall Johnson Jr. Alvy Marshall Johson Jr.: 1922-2005 Alvy Marshall Johnson Jr., 82, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson and the Rev. Perry Hunsaker officiating. Burial will be private in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Corsicana to A.M. Johnson Sr. and Goldie Tyson Johnson. The family moved to Lubbock in 1925. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1940, attended Texas Tech for two years and TCU for 1 semesters. He entered the service in early 1943 and was in the Air Force until November 1945. He was a tech sgt. radio gunner on a B-24, serving with the 43rd bomb group of the 5th Air Force. His plane flew more than 30 missions over Japan and Formosa. Returning to Texas Tech, he met and married Mary Findley on Sept. 3, 1946, at Hale Center. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary next month. He received his BS in geology in 1947 and was hired by the Texas Co. to work in geophysics in the Anadarko and Permian Basins. He received his master's in 1952 at Tech. In 1953, the family moved to Amarillo. He taught science at Sam Houston Junior High. In 1956, he began teaching geology at Amarillo College, retiring in 1985 after 29 successful years. During this time he did further graduate work at Texas Tech, Indiana University and the University of Texas. He also taught two or three summer sessions at WT. One of his favorite experiences was serving six summers as a seasonal ranger naturalist in Glacier National Park. He felt that it added greatly to his teaching ability. Mr. Johnson was passionate about teaching, nature and the outdoors, protecting the environment and our natural resources. He loved his family, his church and Amarillo College. He was an avid hiker, fossil and mineral collector, and Indian artifact collector. After his retirement he began volunteering at the VA hospital, where he served more than 17 years, and for an excess of 9,000 hours. He also volunteered with his friend, Dr. Joe Taylor, at AC for several years. In 1997, he was named AC's fourth professor emeritus, an honor he greatly appreciated. Mr. Johnson was a 50-plus year member of Masonic Lodge, currently No. 731 of Amarillo, St. Paul United Methodist Church and Christian Workers/Caring Christians Sunday school class, which he had served as president and as one of the teaching roster for many years, The Amarillo College Retirees group and Tophatters Dance Club. His family expresses their deep gratitude to the great staff at both Ware Memorial Care Center and BSA Hospice for their loving care. Mr. McKinney was born in Red River County. He served in both the Army Air Corps and the Army. While residing in Amarillo, he retired from the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad. Mr. Richards was born Jan. 4, 1969, in Torrance, Calif., to Donald and Norma Brown Richards. Ray loved to play the guitar and wrote music. He played in the band "Duality" for many years and even recorded several sound tracks. He loved hiking, camping, cooking, riding his motorcycle and helping others. He was honorably discharged from the Army. He was a carpenter by trade. He married Jade Allison Webb on Aug. 14, 2004, in Amarillo where they made their home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Richard Rivera Jr. of Plainview, Henry Rivera of Dimmitt and Edward Rivera of Seguin; five brothers, Cecil and Thomas Rivera, both of Lubbock, John Rivera of Lawton, Okla., Ray Rivera of Germany and Roland Rivera of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Castillo of Midland and Rosa Gonzalez of Hamlin; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Rosa Booch DOTHAN, ALA. - Ruth Rosa Booch, 83, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. Memorial services in Amarillo, Texas, are pending. Arrangements are by Byrd Funeral Home. Mrs. Booch was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Esslingen, Germany. She served as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Bamberg, Germany, from 1946 through 1947, where she met her husband, Ernest Lewis Booch. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1952. From 1969 to 1972, she served as program director of the Greater Amarillo Chapter of the American Red Cross and then from 1972 to 1983 served as its executive director. She was awarded boss of the year for 1982/1983 by the American Business Women's Association and in 1980, was one of the finalists for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Woman of the Year award. After her retirement from the Red Cross in 1983, Mrs. Booch moved to Alabama for the birth of her grandson, Thomas. She remained in Alabama and became the ultimate, loving grandmother to Thomas until his untimely death in 2004. Throughout her life she was active in a number of civic activities, including various USAF Officers Wives Clubs, YMCA committees, PTA, International Club, American Field Service and Altrusa Club. She loved reading, painting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years; a grandson, Thomas Lewis Lindsay; her parents, Franz and Helene Mller; two sisters, Helene and Liesel; and a brother, Erich. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Lindsay and husband, Tom, of Dothan; two sons, Grady Booch and wife, Jan, of Littleton, Colo., and Peter Krssinger and wife, Edith, of Mglingen, Germany; and a grandson, Markus Krssinger of Mglingen.The family suggests memorials be to the American Red Cross, Texas Panhandle Chapter, 1800 S.
