Bruce Bob L. Bruce, 72, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Mr. Bruce was born in Amarillo. He was president of Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, N.Y., Napet Realty, Vestal Rotary Club and American Cremation Association. He was on the board of directors of National Association of Cemeteries, was a warden at Christ Church in Binghamton, N.Y., and a member and warden of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Pat; a son, Scott Bruce and wife, Cristina, of Dallas; a daughter, Amy Hillin and husband, Hunter, of Austin; and two grandsons, Christopher and Greyson of Austin. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alvin L. Lee Alvin L. Lee, 86, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Continental and Sunday in Booker. Mr. Lee was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Carmen, Okla. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Lee was a teacher and a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Willene; a son, Leslie of Amarillo; two daughters, Jane Henton and Suzanne Burge, both of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Family suggests memorials be to Booker High School, Kerry Henton Scholarship Fund, S. Main St., Booker, TX 79005. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Lillie Stein Huff TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Lillie Stein Huff, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Witcher, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Huff was born Jan. 5, 1913, in Sagerton, Texas. She moved to Tucumcari in 1936 with her late husband, Mark Huff. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked in the original Tucumcari General Hospital. She along with her husband owned and operated Mark Huff Motor Co. and the Original Malt Shop, both located on Old Route 66 in Tucumcari. She had been a member of Tucumcari Garden Club, Tucumcari Elks Lodge Does Drove, Tucumcari Country Club and numerous bridge clubs of Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; a brother, Milton Stein; and most recently her sister, Nola Schubert. Survivors include a son, George Huff and wife, Nancy, of Kileen, Texas; her grandchildren, Tracy Subiran and Michael, of Mesa, Ariz., Mark Huff and Rachelle, of Germany, Hillary Huff of Grapevine, Texas, and Steven Porterfield of Stanton, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Karen Daniel and husband, Wayne, of Albuquerque; and a nephew, Marshall Schubert and Nancy of New Braunfels, Texas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area James "Jim" L. Phillips CHILDRESS - James "Jim" L. Phillips, 96, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Phillips was born July 13, 1909. He married Ida Lee Bain on Jan. 12, 1935, in Memphis. Survivors include three daughters, Rudene Wise of Clarendon, and Charlene Allcorn and Sue Cooper, both of Houston; a son, James Monroe Phillips of Brownwood; a brother, Jack Demsey Phillips of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Vasca Marie Kittrell Byrd LITTLEFIELD - Vasca Marie Kittrell Byrd, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Stewart, pastor, and the Rev. Glen Harlan officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Hart Cemetery in Hart with the Rev. Matt Baird officiating. Arrangements are by Hammons Funeral Home. Mrs. Byrd was born April 11, 1916, in Amity, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Roberson of Amherst and Peggy Davis of Anton; a son, Jerry Kittrell of Hart; four sisters, Helen Thompson of Texarkana, Ark., Jay Pete and Freddie Wendall, both of Hot Springs, Ark., and Dot Tankersley of Laguna Hills, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great- grandchildren.
