Erwin Melvin A. Erwin, 77, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Odyssey Health Care, officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Garden Mausoleum. Mr. Erwin was born in Matador. He married Marie Buntan in 1951. She preceded him in death in 2001. He married Bobbie Lynch in 2003. He was in the Merchant Marine and the Army. Mr. Erwin started Erwin Finance Co. in 1957. He was also the owner of Erwin Motors Inc., Used Car Rentals Inc. and Erwin Pawn Inc. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Elaine Erwin of St. Croix, Barbara Erwin of El Paso and Janet Erwin of Amarillo; a son, David Erwin and wife, Pennie, of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, Rebecca Stout and Charlotte Wainscott, both of Austin, and Kathy Trimble of Lubbock; a sister, Ruby Bailey of Plainview; two brothers, Bill Murdick of Joshua and Kenneth Murdick of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Dane, Caitlyn, Ashley, Jessica and Hayden; and a great-granddaughter, Avery. The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Health Care, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zeireon Andrew Walker Zeireon Andrew Walker, 9-month-old infant son of James and Chanelle Walker of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Chester Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Zeireon was born Oct. 20, 2004, in Amarillo to James and Chanelle Walker. Survivors include his parents; a sister, Challea Walker; his grandparents; and his great-grandparents. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomasina Thomas Thomasina Thomas, 55, of Amarillo died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Ms. Thomas was born and raised in Amarillo and was a graduate of Tascosa High School. She graduated from the University of Texas as well as the University of Texas School of Law. She worked for the Randall County Criminal District Attorney's office before going into private practice. She practiced elder law in Amarillo for many years. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed helping others, and she loved the Texas Rangers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomasine Starnes Thomas in 1976 and Lloyd Thomas in 1989. Survivors include numerous cousins. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Julia Dean Reynolds Ellingwood Julia Dean Reynolds Ellingwood, 81, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005. No services are scheduled at this time. Inurnment will take place in Romance, Ark. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Ellingwood was born in Romance on June 20, 1924. She was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Lee Dumont of Amarillo, Martha Jane Wasson of Glendale, Ariz., and Sammie Jo Swift of Santee, Calif.; a son, James F. Cuevas of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Laurence Cathedral with the Rev. Gabriel Cardiel officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Garcia was born in Amarillo. He moved to Clayton N.M., in 1981, where he graduated from Clayton High School in 2000. He attended Eastern New Mexico University. Richard was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Clayton. He was employed in Amarillo at Pride Home Center for 2 years. He attended St. Laurence Cathedral. He was a loving son and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his parents, Steven and Vera Garcia of Amarillo; his grandmother, Maria Garcia of Clayton; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and many, many friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Jane Forsyth HAPPY - Jane Forsyth, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Lakewood, Colo. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Happy with the Rev. Paul Burwash officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy. Mrs. Forsyth, formerly of Happy, passed quietly from this life on Aug. 11. She was living in Denver at the time of her death. Born in Ira in 1920, she was one of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Falls. Jane met and later married Ross Forsyth while attending West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon. Jane moved with Ross to Happy in 1946 and later began her teaching career in the public school system there. A member of First Baptist Church until she moved to Denver, Jane now returns to the friends and community that she loved and was a part of for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William Roy, who died in infancy; and a sister Ethel Verle Young. Survivors include a sister, Georgene Galloway; three brothers, W.T. Falls, J.E. Falls Jr. and Joe Falls; two sons, Doug Forsyth and Tom Forsyth; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church in Happy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee Ray "Bud" Steel McLEAN - Lee Ray "Bud" Steel, 73, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in Heald Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes officiating. Arrangements are by Bailey-Ware Funeral Home. Mr. Steel was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Goree to George and Annie Steel. Mr. Steel was a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He was a pumper in the oilfield for Chevron. Survivors include a son, Dale Steel and wife, Rose, of McLean; two daughters, Terresa Finley and husband, Rex, of Denison and Kay Martin and husband, Fred, of Eufaula, Okla.; two sisters, Billie Faye Hindman and husband, Emmitt, of Breckenridge and Edie Bea Cole and husband, Bob, of Midwest City, Okla.; a brother, Gaylen Steel and wife, Corky, of Granbury; a sister-in-law, Mary Steel of Arkansas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Carl Lee Henley Scholarship Fund, McLean, Texas, or Heald Methodist Church, McLean, Texas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nixie Robertson DUMAS - Nixie Robertson, 72, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church of Dumas with Jerald Chadwick, close family friend and pastor of Central Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating and Rick Korsmo, pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Dumas, assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Robertson was born Nov. 30, 1932. She had been a Dumas resident since 1951. She was born to Lester and Birdie McDougal in Fort Towson, Okla. Following the death of her father at an early age, she was raised by her Daddy Claude Key. She was a very committed homemaker and mother. She and her husband, Shorty, were loving, hard-working, devoted parents who considered it their duty to instill a sense of faith, purpose, honesty and responsibility in their children. She later worked outside the home as a secretary/dispatcher for a trucking company, as a salesperson in a jewelry store and as a desk clerk in a motel. Nixie was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Dumas and later a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. After their retirement, Nixie and Shorty enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer and visiting with their extended family. Nixie had a special place in her heart for her Shetland sheepdogs. She was a mother to almost everyone she met. Her generosity of spirit was unparalleled. We are all fortunate for having the experience of knowing and loving her. Survivors include her husband, R.L.; three daughters, Linda Hamlin of Mount Pulaski, Ill., Glenna Rummel and husband, S.D., of Fritch and Suzanne Roberts and husband, Glenn, of Springfield, Va.; a son, Tim Robertson of Dumas; a brother, John Key and wife, Donna, of Yreka, Calif.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Nellie Weathers of Valliant, Okla.; a nephew, Mike Key of California; many special cousins and friends; and her beloved four-legged friends, Heidi, Missy and Alex. Steen, 51, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by Jack Chosvig. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. James McGowan officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Steen was born Oct. 28, 1953, in Los Alamos to Joe Nestor Miera and Cecilia Ulibarri Miera. A 1971 graduate of Clayton High School, she worked at the Eklund for a number of years and also worked for IBP in Amarillo, Texas, and Seaboard in Guymon, Okla. Survivors include three daughters, Melinda Montoya of Clayton, Dustie Jo Steen of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Holly Steen of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son, Carlos Montoya of Amarillo; her mother of Clayton; two sisters, Mary Ann Padilla of Liberal, Kan., and Jo Anna DeHerrera of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman with Larry Roberts officiating and Terry Slavens assisting. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. Echols was born April 1, 1941, in Gorman to Clea and Mutt Echols. He married Lavenia Rodgers on March 12, 1960, in Gorman. He was district supervisor for Energas for many years before retiring. He was a member of Eastland Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Echols and wife, Terri, of Odessa and Eric Echols and wife, Karen, of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandsons, Aaron Echols of Abilene and Ryne Echols of Odessa; and two aunts, Velda Baze and Annie Watson, both of Gorman. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ruby Moultrie, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Bruce Parks assisting. Burial will be in Anton Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mrs. Jezisek was born Sept. 1, 1936, to Benjamin and Mary Brittingham. She married Paul Jezisek on Aug. 25, 1979, in Anton. Survivors include a daughter, Annette Wolf of Shallowater; a stepdaughter, Truby Stamps of Anton; a son, Donny Davis of San Antonio; two stepsons, Nicky Jezisek of Anton and Eddy Jezisek of Navasota; a brother, Francis Brittingham of Amarillo; a sister, Yvonne Hill of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Vista Care Hospice, 1010 Slide Road, Lubbock, TX 79416. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Rosa Booch DOTHAN, Ala. - Ruth Rosa Booch, 83, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements in Dothan were by Byrd Funeral Home. Mrs. Booch was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Esslingen, Germany. She served as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Bamberg, Germany, from 1946 through 1947, where she met her husband, Ernest Lewis Booch. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1952. From 1969 to 1972, she served as program director of the Greater Amarillo Chapter of the American Red Cross and then from 1972 to 1983 served as its executive director. She was awarded boss of the year for 1982/1983 by the American Business Woman’s Association and in 1980, was one of the finalists for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Woman of the Year award. After her retirement from the Red Cross in 1983, Mrs. Booch moved to Alabama for the birth of her grandson, Thomas. She remained in Alabama and became the ultimate, loving grandmother to Thomas until his untimely death in 2004. Throughout her life she was active in a number of civic activities, including various USAF Officers Wives Clubs, YMCA committees, PTA, International Club, American Field Service and Altrusa Club. She loved reading, painting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years; a grandson, Thomas Lewis Lindsay; her parents, Franz and Helene Müller; two sisters, Helene and Liesel; and a brother, Erich. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Lindsay and husband, Tom, of Dothan; two sons, Grady Booch and wife, Jan, of Littleton, Colo., and Peter Krössinger and wife, Edith, of Möglingen, Germany; and a grandson, Markus Krössinger of Möglingen.
