Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Charles Broadhurst officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Mrs. Carver was born July 16, 1934, to Homer and Ollie Shipley in Borger where she grew up. She had lived in Eunice, N.M., for more than 20 years and had later lived in San Francisco and in Amarillo. She was a political activist with the Democratic Party and will be remembered as a great cook and a mother to everyone who knew her. She was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Bruce Carver of Hobbs, N.M.; a daughter, Melanie Carver of Rio Rancho; her former husband, Dub Carver of Amarillo; a brother, H.A. Shipley of Borger; a sister, Delores Wright of Jal, N.M.; and three grandchildren, Danielle and Hieth Carver and Alem Abai. Monroe St., Amarillo, TX 79101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Anna Loda Sims Morrison Anna Loda Sims Morrison, 98, of Canyon died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005. Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday in Carter Cemetery in Carter, Okla., with David Crump, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., Amarillo. Mrs. Morrison was born in Cherry Hill, Ark., and moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Sayre, Okla. She worked as a drapery seamstress and variety store clerk. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis Ray Morrison and Troyce Dale Morrison. Survivors include two daughters, Jean O'Brien of Canyon and Sue Tolbert of Amarillo; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Mr. Mobbs was born April 11, 1955, in Olton to Robert Leon Mobbs and Josephine Fisher Mobbs. He was employed by Gebos Distributing Co. and had recently moved to Perryton to manage the store there. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; his mother of Dalhart; two brothers, David Mobbs of Lowell, Ark., and Steve Mobbs of Abilene; and four sisters, Marilyn Ellibee of Dumas, Beverly Scott of Aurora, Colo., Susan Holcombe of Amarillo and Margaret Robb of Idalou. Mrs. Austin was born June 8, 1922, in Arkansas to Joe B. and Jenny Lackey. She married Harold S. "Whiz" Austin on Dec. 10, 1946, in Los Angeles and moved to Wheeler County, where she worked with her husband on the family farm and ranch. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Austin of Gravette, Ark., and Joe Austin of Wheeler; a daughter, Charlotte Brown of San Antonio; four brothers, Wendell Lackey of Coos Bay, Ore., Preston Lackey and Sanford Lackey, both of Jasper, Ark., and Wayne Lackey of Illinois; a sister, Mabel King of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Janet Hill Sauer SPEARMAN - Janet Hill Sauer, 50, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Sauer was born June 28, 1955, in Shattuck, Okla. She lived in the area for a lifetime. She married Randall Sauer on Aug. 15, 1974, in Dumas. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid football fan. Survivors include her husband; a son, Scott Sauer of Spearman; her parents, Bill and Rheta Hill of Dumas; a sister, Jodi Carrell of Dumas; her grandfather, Ollie Cates of Guymon, Okla.; seven nephews, Chad Robinette, Cole Robinette, Josh Sauer, Kyron Schmidt, Justin Sauer, Brandon Gross and Sean Gross; and four nieces, Jessica Sauer, Jennifer Sauer, Brittani Schmidt and Ashley Sauer. Roland, Spearman, TX 79081; Boy Scout Troop 551 in Spearman; or the Spearman Fire Department. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Abraham Hajjar TRUSSVILLE, ALA. - Abraham Hajjar, 87, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in Birmingham. Arrangements were by Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens East. Mr. Hajjar was born in Lawrence, Mass., in 1918. Mr. Hajjar went on to enlist in the Army in 1937 as an artillery man, served in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic in North Africa and England during World War II, participated in the Normandy Invasion, June 1945, and was part of the occupation force after the German surrender. During the Cold War, Mr. Hajjar participated in the Berlin Airlift, served with Gen. Curtis Lamay in a SAC command and was a technical instructor for military aircraft repair/maintenance schools in the United States, Greece and Saudi Arabia. In 1968, Mr. Hajjar retired from the Air Force as a chief warrant officer. Shortly after retirement, he worked for Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, Texas, repairing aircraft damaged during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hajjar enjoyed inventing machinery, studying biblical history, studying religions, storytelling, cooking, music, football and dogs. He had an infectious sense of humor that brought pleasure to persons around him. Lastly, he loved people, had many close friends and was gracious to charities. The family would like to thank all persons for their prayers and kindness during the illness. "Uncle Abe," as he was affectionately called by friends and family, will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; and a brother, J.R. Survivors include two sons, William Hajjar and Frank Capps; a sister, Evelyn Ellis; two brothers, Albert Hajjar and Eli Hajjar; and numerous nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Rosa Booch DOTHAN, ALA. - Ruth Rosa Booch, 83, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements in Dothan were by Byrd Funeral Home. Mrs. Booch was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Esslingen, Germany. She served as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Bamberg, Germany, from 1946 through 1947, where she met her husband, Ernest Lewis Booch. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1952. From 1969 to 1972, she served as program director of the Greater Amarillo Chapter of the American Red Cross and then from 1972 to 1983 served as its executive director. She was awarded boss of the year for 1982/1983 by the American Business Woman's Association and in 1980, was one of the finalists for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Woman of the Year award. After her retirement from the Red Cross in 1983, Mrs. Booch moved to Alabama for the birth of her grandson, Thomas. She remained in Alabama and became the ultimate, loving grandmother to Thomas until his untimely death in 2004. Throughout her life she was active in a number of civic activities, including various USAF Officers Wives Clubs, YMCA committees, PTA, International Club, American Field Service and Altrusa Club. She loved reading, painting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years; a grandson, Thomas Lewis Lindsay; her parents, Franz and Helene Mller; two sisters, Helene and Liesel; and a brother, Erich. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Lindsay and husband, Tom, of Dothan; two sons, Grady Booch and wife, Jan, of Littleton, Colo., and Peter Krssinger and wife, Edith, of Mglingen, Germany; and a grandson, Markus Krssinger of Mglingen. The family suggests memorials be to the American Red Cross, Texas Panhandle Chapter, 1800 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79102-3017.
