Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Church of the Nazarene with Ray McDowell, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Ms. Garrison was born May 9, 1957, in Amarillo. She had worked as a cook at a nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Bradly Shane Brown; and a grandson, Jacob Brown. Survivors include a daughter, Casey Dean Brown of Amarillo; a grandson, Cash Garrison Dan Brown; three sisters, Loretta Elaine Collins, Carole Stovall and Glenda Gayle Ridge, all of Amarillo; seven brothers, Gary Lynn Garrison, Kelley Duane Garrison and Wendell Garrison, all of Amarillo, Rocky Garrison of Crosby, Scott Garrison and Tracey Garrison, both of Grand Junction, Colo., and Bobby Dale Garrison of Clifton, Colo.; and her best friend, Twilia Chumney of Amarillo. The family will be at 1900 Martin Road, Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lois McQueen Lois McQueen, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Dale Moreland of San Jacinto Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. McQueen was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Winnsboro to Pete and Alice Parnell. She married John Oliver McQueen on May 1,1935, in Memphis. She was a homemaker until her children were raised. She then went to work for Bivins Nursing Home, where she retired after 10 years of service. She loved to crochet, travel and fish. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 23, 1976; a sister; and five brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Nedra Pinner and husband, Arly, and Kay Shelton and husband, Ken, all of Amarillo; a son, Jerry McQueen and wife, Susie, of Denison; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee Jay Statser Lee Jay Statser, 86, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post No. 1475. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Statser was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Trent. He was a graduate of White Flat School. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Mildred Judge on April 13, 1946, in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in July 2001. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1946. He was a carpenter and a building contractor. He started A-1 Floor Covering and operated Lee's Floor Covering with his wife, Mildred, until his retirement. He was a lifetime member and judge advocate of VFW Post 1475. Mr. Statser loved to make handcrafted wood items for friends and family. He took great pride in relating World War II experiences to Amarillo students. Survivors include a daughter, Kendra Maxwell of San Diego; four sons, John Statser of Mesquite, Larry Statser of Wichita Falls, Duane Statser of Amarillo and Mark Statser of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include his parents of Amarillo; three sisters, Vivana Porras, Esmarelda Porras and Stephanie Porras; and his grandparents, Angela Porras and Clinto and Teresa Aloso. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frances Atha Younger Frances Atha Younger, 99, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Stewart Funeral Service Chapel in Hollis, Okla. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis. Mrs. Younger was born Oct. 8, 1905, to Mr. and Mrs. F.M. McClendon in Klondike. The McClendon family relocated from Delta County to Dryden, Okla., in the summer of 1912, traveling by covered wagons with mules. Frances graduated from Dryden High School in 1922. She was a skilled basketball player and later a big fan of sports. Frances met the love of her life, Tyson Sullivan Younger. They were married in Hollis at a sunrise ceremony on Dec. 28, 1928. The couple farmed near the community of Arlie until Tice died in 1954. They were the loving parents of their children, Gypsy, Doug, Bob, Natalie and Bart. Frances saw to it that all of her children received a college education. Frances moved to Amarillo in 1956. She worked at the Hollywood Fashion Shop for 26 years and took "early" retirement at the age of 77. Frances had a strong bond with her 12 grandchildren and their spouses and loved watching her 18 great-grandchildren begin to grow up. She was always there for her children and grandchildren and they for her. Her legacy will be the lasting impression of strength of character, grace, integrity, humor and wit, which has served to shape the lives of her children and grandchildren. Frances was truly a member of America's greatest generation. Later in life she often would say, "I have had a good life, a very good life." Frances, from those who knew you and loved you, we can find solace that your recent wish has been granted to "go and meet glory." She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Gypsy McClements; two sons, Doug Younger and Bob Younger; a granddaughter, Ticeen Moslener; three brothers, Elby, Maudin and Ed; and four sisters, Icy, Lottie, Oma and Lucille. Survivors include a daughter, Natalie Holtgrewe and husband, Victor, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a son, Bart Younger and wife, Sandra, of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Kay Younger of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren, including four grandsons, Cole Younger and wife, Terri, and Jim Younger and wife, Aneta, all of Amarillo, Vance Holtgrewe and wife, Taresa, of Roy, Utah, and Bart Younger Jr. of Tulsa, and four granddaughters, Shauna Jones and husband, Brady, of Amarillo, Jan Moslener and husband, Mike, of Rockwall, Deb Summers and husband, Eric, of Phoenix and Jill Younger of Dallas; 18 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Beth Satterwhite of Lubbock and Lenelle Sanford of California; a nephew, Bill Hicks and wife, Micki, of Los Alamos, N.M.; and a great-niece, Amy Kellog of Dallas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marceille "Marky" Farmer Miller Marceille "Marky" Farmer Miller, 82, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005. At the request of Marceille, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Her family will have a Celebration of Life for both her and her late husband in the fall. Local arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Miller was born May 6, 1923, in her grandmother's home in Wheeler. Marky attended Wheeler public schools, graduating in 1940. She received a teaching degree from West Texas State Teachers College and taught primary grades and art in Childress, Pampa and Las Cruces, N.M. In May 1948, she began her career as a fashion artist with what was then Amarillo Daily News and Amarillo Globe. There she met Gene Miller, and they were married September 1950. After years at home with her children, she returned to her job at the Amarillo Globe-News. She and Gene retired July 1991. She enjoyed reading, traveling, was an excellent seamstress, loved to paint and collected dolls. Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Paige Miller and Jim McGee of Amarillo and Brooke and CK Bucy of Lubbock; and six grandchildren, Carmen, Keegan and Harrison Bucy, all of Lubbock, Holden Bucy of Denton, Logan Miller-McGee of Amarillo and Decklan McGee of Arlington. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Holmes of Arden Road Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hoffman was born in Bartlesville, Okla. She graduated from Phillips High School and Frank Phillips College. On Jan. 20, 1961, she married Fred Hoffman in Borger. She was an avid bowler and past director and treasurer of the Amarillo Women's Bowling Association. She was a loyal wife, caring mother and wonderful grandmother. Survivors include her husband; a son, Terry W. Hoffman and wife, Lucy, of Lubbock; a brother, Don Burrow and wife, Mary, of Borger; and a grandson, Sterling Hoffman of Lubbock. Mrs. Morgan was born June 22, 1923, in Coal County, Okla., to Landon and Nora Mason. She married Charlie Morgan on June 10, 1939, and they raised eight children in McLean, where they lived for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980; a baby daughter in 1942; and a daughter, Joyce Ann in 1997. He married Rita Ferguson on Aug. 19, 1950, in Laverne.
