Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Tascosa Road Fellowship Church with Jay Roberson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Henderson was born Aug. 2, 1926, to Arthur R. and Emma Fern Kimball. Ardith met the love of her life, Don Henderson, in 1946 and they married in 1947. She graduated from Northwest Texas School of Nursing and devoted 10 years to her nursing career. A talented artist, Ardith enjoyed oil painting. She served her community through her volunteer work with the Suicide Hotline. Ardith was a born-again Christian and member of Tascosa Road Fellowship. She was a devoted servant and blessed the lives of all who she encountered with her kindness and gift for nurturing and counseling others. Ardith’s love and adoration of family defined its meaning for all. All of those who knew her were blessed and bettered by her presence in their lives. Ardith will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband; her children, Donald Ray Henderson and wife, Vicki Diane, Kim Wade Henderson and wife, Kimbra Lea, and Kip Lynn Denson and husband, James Steven; six grandchildren, Brian Lee Henderson and wife, Rahnee Jo, Kelly Danise Owens and husband, Charles Patterson, Aaron Wade Henderson, Catherine Lea Henderson, Vanessa Nicole Henderson and Clay Alan Raleigh; and two great-grandchildren, Burkleigh Marie Henderson and Aiden Patterson Owens. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Assembly of God Church in Albany with Bill Meyerholtz of Miracle Convenant Church and the Rev. Don Clevenger of the church in Albany officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery. Mr. Newcomb moved to Amarillo nine years ago from Borger. He retired in 1989 from pipeline construction work. Mr. Newcomb married Gloria Hill on Oct. 8, 1998. He was a member of Miracle Covenant Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Jane Ramsey of Tuscola; a son, Johnny Newcomb III of California; a brother, Raymond Newcomb and wife, Margie, of Borger; a sister, Joy Trammill and husband, Bobby, of Pampa; three stepchildren, Stephanie Bogle of Amarillo, Robert Burge of Albany and Elizabeth Weems of Winston Salem, N.C.; a niece, Linda Kay Vance of Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rickie Ray Sawyer uFFFC Rickie Ray Sawyer, 56, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with LaVon Thompson, pastor of Life of Praise Fellowship Church, and Jerry Davey, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Sawyer was born and raised in Iowa. He married Shirley Phillips in 1983 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Bivins Memorial Nursing Home and Palo Duro Hospital. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He really enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; three sons, Bill Miller, Shannon Sawyer and Micheal Sawyer, all of Amarillo; his mother, Katherine Whittemore of Amarillo; five brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charles Weiss uFFFC Charles Weiss, 69, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Weiss was born in Amarillo and lived here most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the Army. He worked in sales for many years and also drove a taxi for several years. Mr. Weiss was an avid bowler and was involved in league bowling in Amarillo for more than 40 years. He was an avid Cubs, Braves and Broncos fan, his favorite player being John Elway. He also got lots of enjoyment playing slot machines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Weiss and Pauline Bryant; and a brother, Bobby Weiss. Survivors include a daughter, Terry Hosler of Amarillo; two sons, Rick Weiss and Chris Weiss, both Amarillo; two grandchildren, Kimberly Wilson and Cody Hosler, both of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Wilson and Breauna Wilson, both of Amarillo; his companion of many years, Ernestine Costley of Amarillo; a brother, Carl Weiss of Amarillo; and a sister, Debbie Willis of Amarillo. The family will be at 1025 Trinchera Drive. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Roy Cahill PANHANDLE — Roy Cahill, 88, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ in Panhandle with John Henley, minister, and Glen Walton, minister of Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle. Mr. Cahill was born June 24, 1917, in Sawyerville, Ill., to Lawrence Neal Cahill and Sallie Harmon Cahill. He had lived in Pampa for more than 40 years while working for Phillips Petroleum in the Miami field in Roberts County. He later lived in El Valle Escondido, Taos, N.M., and Panhandle. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Panhandle. He married Mildred Abbott on May 9, 1937, in Archer City. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sally Smith and husband, Jack, of Panhandle; two sons, Roy Cahill and wife, Jo Ellen, of Amarillo and John Cahill and wife, Kathy, of Overton; a brother, Leslie N. Cahill and wife, Mickey, of Lufkin; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hawkins of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Johnny Eastep of Central Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Hereford on Dec. 29, 1971, to Ronald and Vickie Hawkins. She graduated from Hereford High School and was a cattle processor. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Vickie and Jerry Shaffer of Dimmitt; a daughter, Sandra Navarette of Dimmitt; a brother, Ronnie Hawkins of Hereford; her grandmother, Ada Hawkins of Palestine; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, N.M., with the Rev. Bill Bridwell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell. Mr. Langford was born Oct. 25, 1909, in Kirk, N.M. He married Ogetha Maye Gann on Nov. 25, 1931, in Clovis. Survivors include two sons, Leon Langford of Morris, Okla., and Delvin Langford of Austin; a daughter, Carolyn Henard of Tatum, N.M.; a sister, Vera Williams of Conchas Dam, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren. Mr. Manwarring was born March 22, 1918, in Alhambra, Calif. He married Margaret Virginia Watson in Las Vegas in 1947. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Michelle Garvet of Amarillo and Melanie Willey of Dallas; a sister, Dorothy Hobson of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Mead was born May 24, 1936, in Hillsboro to Burl Mead and Leta Phillips Mead. He married Kay Norman on Nov. 26, 1969, in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Stacy Urban of Rowlett; four daughters, Jana Tidmore of Lubbock, Shanna Piatt of College Station, Susan Bridgeforth of Lovington, N.M., and Melissa Hmielewski of Little Elm; and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Murphy was born April 29, 1932, in McAlester, Okla. She was a member of Trinity Worship Center. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Kay Petty of Childress and Gwendolyn Jo Shirley of Coppell; a son, Danny Murphy of Childress; two brothers, Tommy Sims of Childress and Leslie Sims of Maryland; three sisters, Georgia Jones of Childress, Mittie Chandler of Amarillo and Bess Davenport of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dorothy Westbrook SHAMROCK — Dorothy Westbrook, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005. Mrs. Westbrook was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Shamrock. She married Cleburne Westbrook on Aug. 18, 1946, in Wheeler. Survivors include two sons, Donald Westbrook of Shamrock and Jerry Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Shirley Rhodes of Shamrock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Taylor SEMINOLE, Okla. — Viola B. Taylor, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Taylor was born March 22, 1919, in Boynton. She married Glynn Dale Taylor on April 14, 1944, in Seminole. Survivors include two sons, Glynn Dale Taylor of Shawnee and Rhonald Lynn Taylor of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Pamela Sue Ennis of Monvevallo, Ala.; three sisters, Pauline Moore of Dumas, Texas, Joyce Hunter of Borger, Texas, and Pat Fleming of Perryton, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Burke Wadley EDMOND, Okla. — Gary Burke Wadley, 73, formerly of Guymon, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Faith Bible Church in Edmond. A second service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Guymon. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon by Matthews Funeral Home. Our beloved Gary Burke Wadley went home to be with his Lord on Aug. 20, after a battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Tyrone to Robert and Ferne Wadley. Gary lived in Guymon for many years and retired in Edmond in 2003. He and his wife, Karlyne Southern, were married for 54 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Kirk, in 1975. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terri Lambert and husband, Raymond; two sons, Courtney and wife, Pam, and David and wife, Olivene; five grandchildren, Brandon, Maegan, Nikki, Andrea and Nathan; and seven great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewher Roy Glen Webb uFFFC BURLESON — Roy Glen Webb, 74, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with the Rev. Johnnie Snider officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. The family held a memorial service Monday in Laurel Land Funeral Chapel in Dallas. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis. Mr. Webb was born June 23, 1931, in Vernon. He married Glenda Childress on Dec. 27, 1956, in Phillips. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Gaylord of Burleson; two brothers, Bud Webb of Kingsland and Jerry Don Webb of Lubbock; and two grandchildren. Box 470773, Fort Worth, TX 76147; or your local VFW Post. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy N. Somerville UFFFC GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Timothy N. Somerville, 58, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Mr. Somerville was born in Amarillo, Texas, on May 6, 1947, to Harold A. and Mira C. Childress Somerville. He graduated from Amarillo High School Class of 1965. Tim served in the Army Reserves and began his pilot’s training at Tradewind Airport in Amarillo. He also attended numerous other flight schools, which led to his becoming a captain on the Boeing 757 with America West Airlines, a post he served for the last 19 years. In 1975, he married Linda Mayo. On Sept. 28, 2003, he married Gloria Grabo. They were married on the train that runs between Silverton, Colo., and Durango, Colo. Tim was a voracious reader and a Civil War history buff. He also enjoyed fishing, but his true love was flying. He was honored by his peers, the Airline Pilots Association, on Aug. 6 in Phoenix to celebrate his leadership, courage and integrity. He was preceded in death by his father in 1974; and a nephew, Scott Gresham in 2001. Survivors include his wife; his mother of Amarillo; a son, Brian Somerville and wife, Audrey, of Greeley; a daughter, Glory Entinger and husband, Chad, of Faribault, Minn.; a brother, John Somerville and wife, Pam, of Amarillo; a sister, Rosemary Gresham and husband, Jim, of Fritch; and his grandchildren, Shekynah, Corban and Davan Entinger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials be to The Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH, 44106.
