Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Fellowship North Ministry Center with John Love officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Rohrs was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., and was raised in Gering, Neb. She was a 1959 graduate of Gering High School. She married Gary Rohrs on Aug. 14, 1959, in Gering. She has been a resident of Amarillo since 1960. She worked as a dark room technician for the Potter County Sheriff's Department for 25 years before retiring in 2004. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She loved working with youth through church, scouting and sports. The family would like to thank the many family members and friends who have done so much in the time of MarJean's illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Valden Rundell; and her brother, Jerry Rundell. Survivors include her husband, Gary of Amarillo; a daughter, Brenda Rohrs of Amarillo; a son, Kent Rohrs and wife, Kristi, of Amarillo; her mother, Esther Rundell of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Bryson Rohrs and Brittani Rohrs. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Mike Nuthman of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Ms. Brown was born in Wellington and raised in Amarillo. She was employed at Northwest Texas Hospital from 1970 until her retirement in 1995 as a unit clerk. Ms. Brown resided on Fairfield Street for 33 years. She loved to garden. Ms. Brown was a friend to all. She was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Brown in 2003. Survivors include a son, Claud Brown of Amarillo; two sisters, Jewel Downing of Lubbock and Debra Brown Bernson of Amarillo; a sister, Judy Powell Miller of Houston; a grandson, Chance Brown of San Diego; and a great-grandson, Craig Brown of San Diego The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice. Osage St. Mr. Beatty was born in Pratt, Kan. He married his wife, Delinda, in 1966. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Crouch was born Oct. 15, 1905, in Pocasset, Okla. She married O.M. Crouch on Aug. 15, 1931. Mrs. Crouch spent the majority of her working years as an employee of the Amarillo Public School System, but had lived the last 10 years in Kokomo. She was a member of First Christian Church of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two sons, Gregory A. Crouch and wife, Sally, of Laguna Beach, Calif., and David P. Crouch and wife, Virginia, of Kokomo; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guadalupe "Lupita" Preciado Guadalupe "Lupita" Preciado, 38, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. today in the church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Miss Preciado was born in Los Angeles and graduated from Caprock High School. She liked the outdoors and enjoyed travel. She was a great artist and loved to draw. She was a people person and will be missed by many. Miss Preciado was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pepe Preciado and Effie Preciado and Florence and Joe Fausto. Survivors include her parents, Johnny and Amelia Preciado of Amarillo; five sisters, Annete Mendez, Angelina Preciado, Destiny Preciado and Natalie Lange, all of Amarillo, and Bernadine Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Lewis Preciado and Eugene Watson Preciado, both of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Connie Charlene Smyrl Connie Charlene Smyrl, 52, of Canyon died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Mrs. Smyrl was born Oct. 24, 1952, in Birmingham, Ala., to Gene and Mae Nell Best Penn. She graduated from Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College. She married Charles Smyrl at Clovis, N.M., on April 24, 1980, and has lived in Canyon since then. She was an avid Canyon Lady Eagles fan and supporter and was a member of the CHS Band Booster Club. She taught bowling at Western Bowl in Amarillo for more than 15 years to any child that was interested. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joseph Smyrl of Texas; a daughter, Jennifer Smyrl of Canyon; a sister, Karen Peterson and husband, Bruce, of Spring; two brothers, Dennis Penn and wife, Lisa, of Indian Hills, N.C., and David Penn and wife, Rhonda, of Amarillo; her mother, Mae Nell Penn of Amarillo; and her father, Gene Penn and wife, Saundra, of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dalhart Church of Christ with Dean Whaley, minister, and Guy Patterson, her grandson of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Connor was born in Donnelly County to Grady and Hazel (Muncy) Horn. Her family farmed in Hedley. She attended Wellington Schools. After loosing her parents at a young age, she stayed with her Grandmother Muncy in Wellington. She then met and married A.H. Patterson and they made their home in the Wellington area. In 1948, they moved to the Dalhart area where they purchased a farm. In 1967, A.H. Patterson died. She continued making her home in Dalhart, where she met and married Lev Connor on Nov. 2, 1968, in Dalhart. She was a state board member of Keep Texas Beautiful and she helped organize Keep Texas Beautiful in Dalhart. She was an active member of Dalhart Church of Christ since 1948, where she taught Bible school and Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband in 1967; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsea Jo Patterson. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tommy Patterson and wife, Martha, of Dumas; two sisters, Willie Merle Kuyendall of Amarillo and Wanda Picket Tilger of Athens; four grandchildren, Guy and Melinda Patterson of Dumas, Joey and Kay Patterson of Amarillo, Mykie Hawkins of Dalhart and Tony and Katherine McLain of Houston; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He had worked as a farm laborer. Survivors include his mother, Ora Lee Ward of Dimmitt; a son, Mark Horn of Amarillo; two daughters, Carolyn Ward and Karen Ward, both of Dallas; three brothers, Sylvester Ward of Lubbock, Kirk Ward of Amarillo and Willie Ward of Anton; and five sisters, Dorothy Ward of Amarillo, Wanda Sherman of Odessa, Glenda Faye Dozier and Sandra Ward, both of Dallas, and Joyce Hood of Earth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marjorie Daniels HEREFORD - Marjorie Daniels, 74, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hereford Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ted Taylor and the Rev. Paul Garcia officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Daniels was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Hooker, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Elsie Loveland. She married Al Daniels on May 1, 1949, in Hooker and they moved to Hereford in 1978, where Mrs. Daniels became director of Hereford Senior Citizens. She retired in 2003 after 25 years. Mrs. Daniels was very instrumental in raising money for the Senior Citizens and even designed the new Senior Citizens building located at 426 Ranger in Hereford. She also helped bring Assisted Living for Senior Citizens to Amarillo. Mrs. Daniels was a representative for the State of Texas for the Aged, she was appointed to Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, a member of the state- wide Health Coordinating Council of the state of Texas, a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Golden K Kiwanis Club, a member of Hereford Nazarene Church and was Hereford Citizen of the Year in 1989. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Mike Daniels of Pampa, Alan Daniels and wife, Bonnie, and Kerby Daniels and wife, Candy, all of Panhandle, and Scott Daniels of Hereford; a daughter, Cheryl Vardeman and husband, Ronnie, of Denison; two brothers, Don Loveland of Hereford and Jerry Loveland and wife, Leona, of Liberal, Kan.; a sister, Rita Porterfield of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Council, Okla. She had spent most of her life in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas in the restaurant business. He married Alene Pickard on Oct. 16, 1953, in Borger. Survivors include his wife; a son, Zachary Earl Srygley of Amarillo; four daughters, Tamera Srygley and Renee Geiger, both of Dallas, Melissa Spillman of Dewey, Okla., and Rachel Hill of Lefors; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betty Murry DUMAS - Betty Murry, 77, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. J McGaughy, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mrs. Murry was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo. For more than 50 years she lived in Dumas and was engaged in farming as an owner and operator. She was a Christian and very generous with her time and talents. She was a regular volunteer at Safe Place, Meals on Wheels, Moore County Museum and Dumas Chamber of Commerce. She was recently selected as one of the Visionary Award winners. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kory. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Murry and Robert Murry and wife, Elaine, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Cynthia Lanham and husband, Scooter, of Amarillo, Lillian Bingham and husband, Kevin, of Aurora, Colo., and Mary Reynolds and husband, Billy, of Dalhart; 13 grandchildren, Crystal, Brandi, Londa, David, Rachel, Paul, Crystol, Ollie, Dusty, Amanda, Jack, Kalob and Whitney; and 16 great-grandchildren. Steve Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Cook was born March 13, 1927, in Springfield, Mass. She was a 35-year resident of Plainview and moved to Odessa in 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Langston and Pamela Cox, both of Odessa, and Thomasina Pierce of Plainview; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Delbert Bruce York SCOTTSBURG, IND. - Delbert Bruce York, 73, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Mr. York was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Portales, N.M. He married Patricia S. Bright York on May 15, 1981. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandy Turner of Amarillo, Texas, and Loresia S. Keith of Jeffersonville; a son, Jeffrey E. Hobbs of Scottsburg; a brother, Robert York of Odessa, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Skinner of Nocona, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Vernon T. "Doc" Watley BEAUMONT - Dr. Vernon T. "Doc" Watley, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Broussard's Mortuary. Mr. Watley was born in Groom on Jan. 31, 1922. He graduated from Groom High School in 1938 and enrolled in pre-med at Texas A&M University. In March 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. On April 5, 1942, he married Mary Margaret Moore of Clarksville. Mary, while visiting from the University of Texas, had met Vernon two years earlier at a Baptist Student Union banquet at Texas A&M, while on a visit to her brother Bob, who was also a student at A&M. He was stationed at Tent City which is now Lackland Air Force Base. A year later he was sent to Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y., to complete his pre-med course. Vernon went on to Yale Medical School and was discharged from the Air Force in January 1946. In June 1949, he graduated with an M.D. Degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He interned at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver for a year and worked for a year as an assistant to a brain surgeon. He was called back to serve in the Korean War for two years as a captain in the Air Force, in charge of the neurological service at Lackland Air Force Base. Dr. Watley was the superintendent of Abilene State Hospital for Epileptics for two years and psychiatrist at Austin State Hospital for three years. He practiced medicine in Vega for eight years as the only doctor in Oldham County. For 11 years he was an emergency room doctor; five years in Pineville Community Hospital; five years in Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont; and one year in Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange. He practiced three years as a family doctor in Beaumont until his retirement in late 1981. Mary and Doc had two foster daughters that had lived with them in Pineville, Ky., for a year, Lisa Thomas lived with them in 1970, and Jaqui Foster Andrus lived with them in 1971. When Mary and Doc moved back to Texas, Lisa and Jacqui followed them and raised their families in Southeast Texas. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Kay; his parents, John and Winnie of Amarillo; and four younger brothers, J. C., Roger, Glenn and Mark. Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Watley; three sons, John Watley of Evadale, Charles Watley of Kennefick and Jim Watley of Santa Fe, N.M.; a daughter, Diana Margaret of Beaumont and Patricia Porter of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Rebekah Verne Watley of Katy, Schuyler Watley of Fort Worth, Shawn Watley of Port Arthur, Jacob Porter and Jessica Porter, both of Boise, and Nancy Jane Watley of Kennefick; two foster daughters, Lisa Thomas and Jacqui Foster Andrus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Holt ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Betty J. Holt, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Carl Novian, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Holt was a longtime resident of Pampa, moving to Sparks, Nev., in 1962, and then to Englewood in 1999. She was employed by the Postal Service for 24 years, retiring in 1988 as assistant postmaster. Survivors include two sons, James Holt of Vienna, Va., and Jerry Holt of Centennial, Colo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rowe A. Plunk MIDLAND - Rowe A. Plunk, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Porterfield of West Kentucky Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Plunk was born April 7, 1914. On April 18, 1943, he married Louise, his wife of 53 years. Survivors include four sons, Rowe A.
