Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Zimmerman of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. VanLaningham was born March 24, 1924, in Amarillo to Thomas O and Sarah E. Johnson. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1941. She attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University and lived in Oklahoma, Galveston, Litchfield, Ill., and Toledo Bend Lake, but always came home to Amarillo. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and volunteered through Amarillo Junior League, Northwest Texas Hospital, Child Welfare Board, Cerebral Palsy Center, Girl Scouts, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary in Litchfield, Adult Reading Program Hemphill and Hemphill Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam VanLaningham on Feb. 25, 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Garrett and husband, Bob, of Amarillo; a son, Tom Stout and wife, Pat, of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Andrea, Shelby, Brett, Shannon and Brad; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Dr. Russell Burns officiating. Mr. Davis was born April 18, 1937, in Amarillo. He began driving a truck at the age of 14 with R.E. Cheek, his brother-in-law, and Dwight Creek Trucking for 15 years. He then drove for ICX for 15 years after working for Jane Gripp of Plains Transportation. He also accomplished his dream of owning and operating his own truck for the past seven years. There was not a person in his life that he did not touch. He will be greatly missed. Benny was a giver until the very end and was a donor to Life Gift. The family wishes to extend a very special thank-you to Dr. Holly Mitchell and Dr. Russell Burns for all the care and compassion they gave Benny during his time of need, and also to the staff of Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Eudy, born in Memphis, had lived in Amarillo for 68 years. She graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She was a past member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc., Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas and the National Historical Society. She continued her education in nursing at Austin and San Antonio, specializing in obstetrical nursing and intensive care of the neonate, congenital heart defects, concepts in obstetrical anesthesia, and mental health and mental retardation. She had been employed by Dr. Patrick Oles and Dr. Isadore Dravin at St. Anthony's Hospital, and the original Northwest Texas Hospital. Before her retirement she worked with the elderly. Mrs. Eudy married John B. Eudy on Jan. 5, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a son, John B. Eudy Jr. in 1996; and a grandson, Roy George Eudy Jr. in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Eudy Sawyers and husband, John W., of Amarillo; a son, Roy George Eudy Sr. of Amarillo; a brother, Billy Fred Jones Sr. of Amarillo; a brother, Tommy Scott of Battle Creek, Mich.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Vance Warren B. Vance, 72, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Barney Railsback of Irwin Road Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Vance was born March 17, 1933, in Santa Rosa. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he settled in Amarillo and married Patsy Patterson in 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Vance started Vance Welding and Refrigeration in October 1969. After retiring in 2002, Mr. Vance spent most of his time at his lake home at Lake o'the Pines in Jefferson. He loved flying, fishing and being with his family. Mr. Vance was a great businessman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cindy Cowan and husband, Charles, and Mary Stansell and husband, Craig, all of Amarillo; two sons, Wallace Vance and wife, Valerie, and Warren "Butch" Vance, all of Amarillo; a twin brother, Wallace Vance of Kingman, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Charles Christopher Cowan, Steven Randale Cowan, Jeff Vance, Mark Vance, Matthew Vance, Wallace B. "Jim" Hudson James F. "Jim" Hudson, 79, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy, minister, officiating. Private family burial with full military honors will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hudson was born Dec. 12, 1925, at Bruno, Ark., to James W. and Jennie M. Hudson. He graduated from Bruno Consolidated High School and entered the Navy in 1943. Mr. Hudson served on the USS Collingsworth in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946. Following his tour of duty, he attended the University of Arkansas for a year and transferred to the College of the Ozarks Pharmacy School. There he met Frances Jane Shell and they were married Aug. 15, 1948, at Clarksville, Ark. He graduated from pharmacy school in 1950. He was recalled to the Navy the same year during the Korean conflict and served on the USS Walke. Following his discharge, Mr. Hudson began his career as a pharmacist. He worked as a medical service representative for Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Co. for 30 years and retired in 1987. After retirement, he worked in a number of pharmacies around the panhandle. Most recently he worked at Avondale Pharmacy. Mr. Hudson received citations from the Arkansas and Texas Boards of Pharmacy for 50 years practice as a registered pharmacist. Mr. Hudson was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and head usher. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara H. Taylor and husband, Scott, of Amarillo; a son, Forrest W. Hudson and wife, Mitzi, of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister, Beulah Burleson of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Dr. Loyde H. Hudson and wife, Arlene, of Fayetteville and Doyne M. Mrs. Gollihugh was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Memphis to Earl A. and Bonnie Ruth Byrom Scott. She married Dewey Gollihugh on Aug. 8, 1964, in Amarillo. Mrs. Gollihugh has been a resident of Amarillo for the past 45 years. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Mrs. Gollihugh liked to crochet and read, especially her Bible. She adored her children and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mona Warren of Kansas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Tascosa Road Fellowship Church with Jay Roberson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. McGill was born Dec. 22, 1923, to Pat Corbitt and Essie Compton McGill in Clarksville. He married Melba Jerene McGill on Dec. 23, 1943, in Clarksville. Mr. McGill was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in 1943, where he was trained as a gunner in charge of an 81mm mortar. These duties included supervising and assisting in the setting up, aiming and firing of that weapon, placing mortar and sights in the aiming stage and adjusting mortar for elevation and deflection. Another of his responsibilities was controlling the crew and its coordination with other crews. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat against armed enemy World War II during the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. After his discharge in 1945 he moved to Amarillo where he was employed by Pioneer Natural Gas Co. for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jerene McGill; and a daughter, Bettie Sue McGill Hutson. Survivors include his daughter, Jerene Maxwell; five grandchildren, Jeff Maxwell and wife, Tiffany, Jason Maxwell and wife, Dena, Kristy Lammes and husband, Alan, Keith Bartlett and wife, Amber, and Debra Maxwell; and 16 great-grandchildren, Shantel Bartlett, Kate Maxwell, Chris and Corey Kaelin, Joshua Maxwell, Sammy and Dakota Kaelin, Matthew Maxwell, Seth Lammes, Tanna Maxwell, Jadon Lammes, Wade Maxwell, Mason Bartlett, Jayce Maxwell, Kian Lammes and Elizabeth Bartlett. Mrs. Veal was born July 24, 1918, in Red River County to Lonnie and Gracie Ellen (Toney) Pirtle. She moved to Childress as a small child and graduated from Childress High School in 1936. On Oct. 24, 1936, she married Arthur Veal in Childress, where they made their home until 1996. They then moved to Roswell, N.M., for nine years to be closer to family. The past year they have resided in Amarillo. Arthur and Ethel would have been married 69 years in October. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and dedicated her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Billy Veal; two sisters, Christine Dowis and Ruby Stillwell; and a brother, Weldon Pirtle. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spearman, where she taught children's Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and training union. She was a member of Fidelis Sunday school class and Women's Missionary Union. She was a former 4-H leader and was a member of 20th Century Club, Hansford County Library Board and OES No. 721 in Spearman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gillum and Eva Hamilton; her husband in 1993; six brothers; and two sisters including Ada McLain of Spearman.
