Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Dotson and Bill Crenshaw, Mrs. Bales' son-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by School Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Bales was born on June 22, 1918, in the Star Community, Okla., to DeWitt and Jessie Morgan as the third of 11 children. She graduated valedictorian of Mountain View High School in 1936 and graduated with honors from Hillcrest Nursing School. She married Evert Bales on May 27, 1941, and lived and worked on farms in Oklahoma and Texas most of her married life of 54 years. She was saved at an early age at Missionary Baptist Church in Star, Okla., and served the Lord in church wherever she lived. She loved missions and working with children and seeing people come to know the Lord as personal Savior. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church at the time of her death. Mrs. Bales had a passion for people in nursing homes and spent many hours writing cards and letters and taking a "single" rose to someone. She loved her family. She loved flowers and worked hard to have a beautiful yard, flowers and plants up to the day she got sick. Her hobby was reading and cutting articles from newspapers and passing them on to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her Daddy and Mama, her husband, four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Crenshaw and husband, Bill, of Canyon; two sons, David Bales and wife, Johnnie, and Bob Bales and wife, Frankie, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Coleta Stinson of Fay, Okla., and Ellen Kilday of California; two brothers, Tyke Morgan of Cordell, Okla., and Sam Morgan of Whitesboro; many nieces and nephews; 6 married grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Loran Harper and Jerry Klein officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Jackie Eugene Forbis was born to Lowell Taylor Forbis and James Audie Forbis on March 7, 1936. He was born at home on the farm in Van Augustine. Jackie began working in the grocery business in 1951. He worked for Furr's Grocery from 1953 to 1979, working up from sacker to manager. He then went to work for Albertson's. He began as a night stocker and quickly worked his way up to the receiving clerk. He had worked at Albertson's for 26 years, his last day being Aug. 19, 2005. He was an Army veteran and had been stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo. and Port Whittier, Alaska. He and Bettie married on Oct. 9, 1960 in Twitty. He was a faithful member of East Amarillo Church of Christ more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Eugene in 1966; his dad in 1963; and his mother in 1970. He is survived by his wife, Bettie; a son, Joel Forbis of Amarillo; a daughter, Mary King of Amarillo; two brothers, James Kenneth Forbis of Amarillo and Charles Forbis of Paris; five grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kan., by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Elkhart in a two room house on the farm of her parents, Ollie and Paul Weatherford. She married Lloyd Miller in 1950, the year she moved to Amarillo. She attended Draughon's Business College in Wichita Falls while working for the freight industry. After graduating college, she worked for Roberts Paper for 30 years, finally opening her own business, Miller Paper, in 1995. Barbara has been a tremendous supporter for the community. She has served on numerous committees and boards. In 1998, she received the Sam Walton Business Leader Award. In 1999 she was elected vice chairman of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and became chairman in 2000. In March, 2000, Mrs. Miller was named the Texas Small Business Person of the Year. She was one of 53 business honorees who traveled to Washington, D.C., to receive her award from the Small Business Administration in a White House ceremony. Harvard Business School Club of New York selected Miller and Miller Paper Co. as one of 10 finalists in the third annual America's Entrepreneur Award competition. She was among those honored at a reception in New York City in 2001. In her volunteer work, Mrs. Miller served on the board of the Amarillo Opera, the High Plains Food Bank, KACV advisory board and Olivia's Angels, a support group for BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. She was a member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet and the Beethoven Society of the Amarillo Symphony. She was a cancer survivor and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She received the Amarillo Breast Cancer Coalition Distinguished Service Award, and was president of Camp Alphie, a camp for children whose lives are affected by cancer. Her other awards include a Career Achievement Award from Amarillo Women's Network in 1985. She later received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Amarillo Women's Network. She was a former president of Women's Network and a member of Amarillo Executive Women and Republican Women's Club. She was a member of the "Helping People Class" and an active member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was also a member of the Rotary Club of Amarillo, where she maintained perfect attendance until her recent illness. She was a Paul Harris Fellow. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lloyd Jay Miller, in 1989. Survivors include her children, Patricia Morrison and husband Ernest of Derby, Kan., and Steven Miller of Richfield, Kan.; her brother, Howard Weatherford and wife, Barbara, of Anthem, Ariz.; and two grandsons, Robert Morrison and wife, Laurianne, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and John Patrick Morrison of Derby, Kan. LaMunyon James E. LaMunyon, 76, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Steven Gaines of Covenant Fellowship officiating. Mr. LaMunyon was born on Sept. 2, 1930, in Amarillo to Clarence and Mabel Stenglemeir LaMunyon. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he went to work for Diamond Shamrock and retired in 1983. Following his retirement from Diamond Shamrock, he went to work in the family business until it was sold. He was an active member of the San Jacinto Methodist Church. Mr. LaMunyon was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include aunts, uncles and several cousins. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Wade was born Sept. 29, 1958, in Houston to Winfred and Dolores Ann Eck Cherry. He was a graduate of Pampa High School. He married Linda Marie Pierce on Sept. 20, 1991. He worked for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Affiliates for many years and later went to work for the Amarillo Independent School District and the Sirloin Stockade Restaurant. He had worked at Texas Tech Health Science Center since 2001. Wade was self-taught in many of the computer applications. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Weeks, Sr.; a brother, Robert G. Weeks, Jr.; his foster father, Monroe Adkins; and his grandmother, Mary M. Meyers. Mr. Price was born on June 26, 1942 at Levelland to D.L. and Gracie Price. He was raised at Levelland and married Ellen Griffith at Levelland on Sept. 2, 1961. He worked at Boys Ranch for 35 years, retiring in July 2004. He was a member of Plum Creek Fellowship Church and loved RVing. He was preceded in death by his father, in 1994. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Martin Road Funeral and Cremation Services, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mr. Starks was born on Nov. 24, 1919, in Cooper. He married Estie Pauline Lindsey on July 4, 1947, in Amarillo. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in France. He retired from Coca Cola Co. in 1985. Mr. Starks loved a good practical joke, especially when he was the one pulling it. He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Amanda Fisher Starks; his father, Robert L. Starks; and a sister, Lillie Inez Slough. LaMaster, 95, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Chapel in Perryton with Dr. Ed Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mr. LaMaster was born in Old Ochiltree on June 8, 1910. He married Elda Vestal in 1937. She passed away in 1980. He married Eldah Borchers in 1981. She passed away in 2001. Mr. LaMaster was co-owner and insurance agent for the LaMaster Insurance Agency. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during WWII. He was a founding member of the Rotary Club in Perryton and was the oldest living lifetime member at the time of his death. He also was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include three brothers, LeRoy LaMaster and Phillip LaMaster, both of Perryton and Henry LaMaster of Amarillo; three granddaughters, Bobbie Bozeman and Lana Yeary, both of Perryton, and Linda Jacobi of Austin; two grandsons, Ben Turner of Elgin and Greg Turner of Pampa; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was born on May 9, 1930, in Hereford to D.O. and Naomi Williams. He graduated from Abernathy High School in 1947 and Texas Tech University in 1952, where he was a member of the Wrangler Club. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and had been a Mason and a Shriner, where he was a past president. He lived and farmed in Hereford for over 40 years and was a member of the American Ag for over 30 years. Mr. Williams married Shirley Hefty on Sept. 6, 1952, in Madison, Wis. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Williams; a daughter, Jo Lynn Schilling; and a grandson, Brian Williams. Mrs. Cruise had great love for her family and pets. She moved to Shamrock to live with her daughter. Arrangements are by Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Martin was a longtime Pampa resident before moving to Tucson six years ago. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church in Pampa. Prati AUSTIN - Emil V. Prati, 89, of Austin, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrews Children's Chapel in Amarillo with the Rev. Clifton Mann, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Prati was a first-generation Italian born on June 1, 1916, in Oalkey, Wy., to immigrants Victor and Rosina Rosa Prati. He retired as a postal operations analyst, safety officer and carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1949 to 1979. He also served as the local National Association Letter Carriers Union president. He moved to Amarillo in 1943 after being stationed at the Amarillo Army Air Field, where he met his wife of almost 60 years, Roena Belle Worsham, who preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Prati was awarded the Bronze Medal for his service during World War II, with the 43rd Infantry Division in the Phillipines. Mr. Prati, an avid square and couple dancer during the 1960s and 1970s , also enjoyed sending letters to the editor of the Amarillo Globe-News, responding to Bob Wiley's column, "Word for Word," and working the daily crossword puzzle. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal church and also served on the Board of the Quarterman Conference Center. Survivors include five children, Karen Prati of Gova, Italy, Katrina Prati of Austin, Kevan Prati and wife, Pamela, of Flower Mound, Kirk Prati of Oklahoma City and Kristina Dodson of Austin; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and best friends, Zeke and Tommie Neeley of Amarillo. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
