Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Polk Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lane Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Weeks was born Sept. 29, 1958, in Houston to Winfred and Dolores Ann Eck Cherry. He was a graduate of Pampa High School. He married Linda Marie Pierce on Sept. 20, 1991. He worked for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Affiliates for many years and later went to work for the Amarillo Independent School District and the Sirloin Stockade Restaurant. He had worked at Texas Tech Health Science Center since 2001. Wade was self-taught in many of the computer applications. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Weeks Sr.; a brother, Robert G. Weeks, Jr.; his foster father, Monroe Adkins; and his grandmother, Mary M. Meyers. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Dolores Weeks of Johnstown, Pa.; his foster mother, Jane Adkins of Altha, Fla.; four sisters, Bunny Lloyd and husband, Wade, of Felton, Del., Joanne Holman and husband, Leslie, of Amarillo, Mary Smith and husband, Phillip, of Lafayette, Ind., and Debbie Romani of Wauregan, Conn.; a brother, John W. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Sirkel was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Mills, N.M., to Euel and Emma (Crawford) Anderson. She was a graduate of Hereford High School. She married Lawrence Sirkel on April 7, 1947, in Hereford. She was retired in 1991 from the AISD after 22 years of service in the cafeteria at Olsen Park. She loved to laugh and be with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 2003; both parents; two sisters, Jennie Hutcheson and Laveta Stewart; and two brothers, Carlos Anderson and Johnny Anderson. "Dick" Cobb, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Chester O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Cobb, a graduate of Elk City, Okla., High School, attended Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla. He married Geraldine Vanderburg in 1935. He was a district salesman for Phillips Petroleum Co. and later was promoted to assistant division sales manager. Dick moved to New Mexico in 1961 and purchased Oil Distributing Co. He moved back to Amarillo in 1965 and established Remco after securing a Remington-Rand franchise, retiring in 1982. Dick was a pilot, stationed in Chteau dun, France, and a former flight instructor at an Army base in Brady. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church, a member of Golden "K" Kiwanis Club, former chairman of SCORE and a member of Gideon's. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Cobb. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Loran Harper and Jerry Klein, both of Comanche Trail Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Forbis was born to Lowell Taylor Forbis and James Audie Forbis on March 7, 1936. He was born at home on the farm in Van Augustine. Jackie began working in the grocery business in 1951. He worked for Furr's Grocery from 1953 to 1979, working up from sacker to manager. He then went to work for Albertson's. He began as a night stocker and quickly worked his way up to the receiving clerk. He had worked at Albertson's for 26 years, his last day being Aug. 19, 2005. He was an Army veteran and had been stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Port Whittier, Alaska. He and Bettie married on Oct. 9, 1960, in Twitty. He was a faithful member of East Amarillo Church of Christ more than 40 years and had been a member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ for the last two years. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Eugene in 1966; his dad in 1963; and his mother in 1970. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joel Forbis of Amarillo; a daughter, Mary King of Amarillo; two brothers, James Kenneth Forbis of Amarillo and Charles Forbis of Paris; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kan., by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Elkhart, Kan., in a two room house on the farm of her parents, Ollie and Paul Weatherford. She married Lloyd Miller in 1950, the year she moved to Amarillo. She attended Draughon's Business College in Wichita Falls while working for the freight industry. After graduating college, she worked for Roberts Paper for 30 years, finally opening her own business, Miller Paper, in 1995. Barbara has been a tremendous supporter for the community. She has served on numerous committees and boards. In 1998, she received the Sam Walton Business Leader Award. In 1999, she was elected vice chairman of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and became chairman in 2000. In March 2000, Mrs. Miller was named Texas Small Business Person of the Year. She was one of 53 business honorees who traveled to Washington, D.C., to receive her award from the Small Business Administration in a White House ceremony. Harvard Business School Club of New York selected Miller and Miller Paper Co. as one of 10 finalists in the third annual America's Entrepreneur Award competition. She was among those honored at a reception in New York City in 2001. In her volunteer work, Mrs. Miller served on the board of Amarillo Opera, High Plains Food Bank, KACV advisory board and Olivia's Angels, a support group for BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. She was a member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet and the Beethoven Society of the Amarillo Symphony. She was a cancer survivor and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She received the Amarillo Breast Cancer Coalition Distinguished Service Award, and was president of Camp Alphie, a camp for children whose lives are affected by cancer. Her other awards include a Career Achievement Award from Amarillo Women's Network in 1985. She later received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Amarillo Women's Network. She was a former president of Women's Network and a member of Amarillo Executive Women and Republican Women's Club. She was a member of the "Helping People Class" and an active member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was also a member of Rotary Club of Amarillo, where she maintained perfect attendance until her recent illness. She was a Paul Harris Fellow. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lloyd Jay Miller in 1989. Survivors include her children, Patricia Morrison and husband, Ernest, of Derby, Kan., and Steven Miller of Richfield, Kan.; her brother, Howard Weatherford and wife, Barbara, of Anthem, Ariz.; and two grandsons, Robert Morrison and wife, Laurianne, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and John Patrick Morrison of Derby. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Geary Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega by Boxwell Brothers at Vega. Mr. Harle was born Feb. 20, 1919, in White Deer to William Foster Harle and Ethel Pearl Taylor. His family moved to Oldham County in the early 1920s and began farming west of Vega. After high school, Taylor owned and operated the Vega Caf until his marriage to Helen Blanche Spear, a school teacher. Together for 35 years and parents of three children, they owned a family farm east of Vega, raising wheat and cattle, and operated a custom harvesting business. They maintained a ranch near Las Vegas, N.M., for many years. He was a member of Vega Kiwanis Club, Memorial Cemetery Board and a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willa Marion Harle Carpenter and Josephine Harle; and a previous wife, Ida Harle. Survivors include wife; his children, Charles William Harle and wife, Effie, Pamela Dillard and Judith Ward and husband, Hal, all of Vega; a stepson, David Blasingame and wife, Melissa, of Dallas; five grandchildren, Todd R. Mr. Hart was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Floydada, to the late Thomas E. and Edith Nora Overman Hart. Herman married Maartje Everdina Van Kerkwijk on March 10, 1956, in Amsterdam. He was an Amarillo resident for 20 years and was employed by the Texas Highway Deptartment for 15 years. He moved to Durango and lived there for five years then moved to Lubbock in 1981. Herman loved his family, children and sports. He was a coach with Kids, Inc. in Amarillo for many years. He was a member of South Plains Church of Christ and was a veteran of the Army from 1954 to 1956. He was preceded in death by a son, Stacey Bethel Hart in 1970; and three sisters. She retired from the postal service in Amarillo in 1983. Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas M. Elliott of Plano; two daughters, Terry M. Sams of Mesquite and Susan D. The family suggests memorials be to the National Wildlife Federation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neal Poore ATHENS - Neal Poore, 46, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Athens. Mr. Poore struggled for years against debilitating depression and his torment has ended. Before illness robbed him of the ability to work, he was a brilliant vibration analyst, operating his own consulting firm for many years. He was an avid organic gardener and his annual "Tomato Talk" was a favorite of the Henderson County Master Gardeners. He believed "digging in the dirt" was life's grandest pleasure. He was preceded in death by his father, David Poore; and his beloved black lab, Stella. Survivors include his wife, Terri Hudson; a daughter, Rebekah Poore of Amarillo; a grandson, Asher Whitmire of Amarillo; his devoted yellow lab, Blanche; and his extended family of "Friends of Bill W." who will long remember his willingness to help.
