Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kan., by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Elkhart, Kan., in a two room house on the farm of her parents, Ollie and Paul Weatherford. She married Lloyd Miller in 1950, the year she moved to Amarillo. She attended Draughon's Business College in Wichita Falls while working for the freight industry. After graduating college, she worked for Roberts Paper for 30 years, finally opening her own business, Miller Paper, in 1995. Barbara has been a tremendous supporter for the community. She has served on numerous committees and boards. In 1998, she received the Sam Walton Business Leader Award. In 1999, she was elected vice chairman of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and became chairman in 2000. In March 2000, Mrs. Miller was named Texas Small Business Person of the Year. She was one of 53 business honorees who traveled to Washington, D.C., to receive her award from the Small Business Administration in a White House ceremony. Harvard Business School Club of New York selected Miller and Miller Paper Co. as one of 10 finalists in the third annual America's Entrepreneur Award competition. She was among those honored at a reception in New York City in 2001. In her volunteer work, Mrs. Miller served on the board of Amarillo Opera, High Plains Food Bank, KACV advisory board and Olivia's Angels, a support group for BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. She was a member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet and the Beethoven Society of the Amarillo Symphony. She was a cancer survivor and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She received the Amarillo Breast Cancer Coalition Distinguished Service Award, and was president of Camp Alphie, a camp for children whose lives are affected by cancer. Her other awards include a Career Achievement Award from Amarillo Women's Network in 1985. She later received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Amarillo Women's Network. She was a former president of Women's Network and a member of Amarillo Executive Women and Republican Women's Club. She was a member of the "Helping People Class" and an active member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was also a member of Rotary Club of Amarillo, where she maintained perfect attendance until her recent illness. She was a Paul Harris Fellow. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lloyd Jay Miller in 1989. Survivors include her children, Patricia Morrison and husband, Ernest, of Derby, Kan., and Steven Miller of Richfield, Kan.; her brother, Howard Weatherford and wife, Barbara, of Anthem, Ariz.; and two grandsons, Robert Morrison and wife, Laurianne, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and John Patrick Morrison of Derby. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edna Hutson Edna Hutson, 84, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with the Rev. Robert E. Field, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Hutson was born May 30, 1921, in Cardiff, South Wales. She grew up in Wales and received her education in Cardiff. She was employed in the building of munitions during World War II in Cardiff, while her sister was in the British Land Army. Edna immigrated to the United States in 1947 where she met and married Dave E. Hutson in Tulia. Dave and Edna welcomed their daughter, Sandra, in 1950. They were married for nearly 58 years. Edna never knew a stranger, and was known for her sparkling personality and friendly disposition. She loved to travel and was happiest when surrounded by her family and her many canine friends. Edna considered herself to be a Texan, having lived here for 58 of her 84 years. She loved Amarillo and the Panhandle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivor and Elizabeth Helyer and a brother, Ivor Helyer Jr. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sandra Hutson, and an alternate daughter, Joan Herron, all of Amarillo; a sister, Vivienne Helyer of Amarillo; a brother, Ralph Helyer and wife, Eve, of Austin; three nephews, Scott Helyer of Arlington, Andrew Helyer of Pflugerville and Jim Hutson and wife, Frances, of Amarillo; and many more relatives in the United States and Wales. Walken Beverly J. Walken, 50, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel, 507 N. Hughes St., with the Rev. Howard Romaine, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Ms. Walken was born May 3, 1955, in Dallas. She had lived in Dallas and Amarillo and was a home health care provider. Survivors include a sister, Betty Anderson, of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Evelyn Mack Detten Evelyn Mack Detten, 91, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mrs. Detten was born in Canada in 1914 and moved to Texas in 1926. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1930. She married Arthur Detten on Aug. 10, 1932, in Amarillo. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a kind, gentle, and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Her homemade bread and home-cooked meals were legendary. The family wishes to thank the staff of BSA Hospice and Ware Living Center for their loving care and compassion. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973; an infant daughter, Evelyn Detten; twin infant sons, David Arthur Detten and Marvin Daniel Detten; and a daughter, Madelyn Duby in 1985. Mr. Cook was born May 17, 1952, in Amarillo to V.B. and Mary Jo Cook. He attended Palo Duro High School and graduated from the University of Texas. He was an accomplished artist and musician and was a voracious reader. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and later owned and operated his own business, Cooksketch. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother of Amarillo; a sister, Laura Sheey of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Rachel Cook-Norris of Lubbock; a niece, Sarah Sheey of Sacramento; a nephew, Liam Sheey of Sacramento; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Second Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Madison Donita Ottinger BOISE CITY, OKLA. - Madison Donita Ottinger, infant daughter of Beverly and Adam Ottinger, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Cimarron Mortuary Chapel with Frank Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery. Madison was born Sept. 2 in Guymon. She weighed four pounds, 11 ounces and was 17 inches long. Survivors include her parents; and her grandparents, Gladys Ottinger, Doug Ottinger and Shelly, all of Boise City, and John and Joann Blackburn of Hugoton, Kan. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Glasgow was born July 3, 1918, in Hardeman County. She married Odys Odra Glasgow on Jan. 15, 1954, in Weatherford. Survivors include numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Jewell Lee George of Hemet, Calif.; a daughter, Carolyn Branham of Jackson, Tenn.; and a stepdaughter, Carol Young of Flatonia; and a stepson, Douglas Glasgow of Houston. Mrs. Price was born Feb. 9, 1911, in Hugo, Okla. She was a housekeeper for many years. Survivors include a niece, Kathy Wilson of Lubbock; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew. Williams, 65, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glenda Johnson and Bruce Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Williams married Betty Smith on Dec. 31, 1964, in Amarillo. Harve was retired from Moormans Manufacturing Co. with over 30 years of service. He also was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Williams lived in Clarendon for 10 years before returning to Turkey about 1 years ago. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Doc Williams in September 1979. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kyle Wade Williams of Idalou; a daughter, Kelley Ann Cash of Anson; his mother, Arowene Williams of Lubbock; a brother, Terry "Doc" Williams of Abilene; a sister, Bridgett Johnson of Idalou; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Turkey United Methodist Church or a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Taylor Harle VEGA - William Taylor Harle, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Geary Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega by Boxwell Brothers at Vega. Mr. Harle was born Feb. 20, 1919, in White Deer to William Foster Harle and Ethel Pearl Taylor. His family moved to Oldham County in the early 1920s and began farming west of Vega. After high school, Taylor owned and operated the Vega Caf until his marriage to Helen Blanche Spear, a school teacher. Together for 35 years and parents of three children, they owned a family farm east of Vega, raising wheat and cattle, and operated a custom harvesting business. They maintained a ranch near Las Vegas, N.M., for many years. He was a member of Vega Kiwanis Club, Memorial Cemetery Board and a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willa Marion Harle Carpenter and Josephine Harle; and a previous wife, Ida Harle. Survivors include wife, Peggy; his children, Charles William Harle and wife, Effie, Pamela Dillard and Judith Ward and husband, Hal, all of Vega; a stepson, David Blasingame and wife, Melissa, of Dallas; five grandchildren, Todd R. Ward and wife, Cristal, of Little Elm, Tye A. Mrs. Wood was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Lipan. She married "Doc" Wood on Nov. 1, 1933, in Mountainair, N.M. Mrs. Nebgen was born July 5, 1970, in Amarillo. She married Gary Nebgen on Nov. 28, 1992, in Jacksboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Grove Hill Funeral Home with David Tarbet, minister of White Rock Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Bolivar Cemetery in Bolivar. Mrs. Dosier was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in 1909 in Denton County to W.R. and Mattie Amyx, she grew up in Denton and Cooke counties. Her adult life was spent in Dallas, Grapevine, Rhome and Canyon. She graduated from Gainesville High School and North Texas State College, and she taught school in Spring Grove, Coppell and Grapevine schools. She experienced the great technological advances of the 19th century. In May 1937, she married Charles Clyde Dosier and they celebrated 51 years of marriage. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ having worshipped in several congregations in the Dallas, Wise and Randall county area. She loved quilting, gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting and Bible reading. Many profited by her generosity and philanthropy. Survivors include two daughter, Connie Burgoon and husband, Bob, of Canyon and Paula Tarbet and husband, David, of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Jim Bob Burgoon of Lubbock, Bill Burgoon and Andrew Burgoon, both of Canyon, David Paul Tarbet of S. Yarmouth, Mass., Amy Duncan of Ruidoso, N.M., Timothy Tarbet of New Milford, Conn., Joanna Hale of Oak Ridge, N.C., and Judith Mayerhofer of Lewisville; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alberle Amyx of Kemp; a sister, Edith Porter of Bedford; and a number of nieces and nephews.
